We had a wonderful time. Beautiful park. We arrived around 1pm, and unfortunately found out that the park is closed daily from 12-3. I would of rated the park a 5 star buy having to sit around and wait is definitely a BIG negative. Suggestion.....stagger lunches, keep someone there. Not a good first impressions to be closed during what is usually the busiest time of the day. Be better!!

Great facility. Unfortunately could not enjoy the golf course with all the rain but would highly recommend this lovation

The site was a bit narrow. It was difficult to position my camper so that I was off the grass and could still open the side out.

The electric system has fallen into disrepair. There are a few pedestals that have been replaced but must look to be in sad shape. Lucky I use a good surge protector as when I plugged it in tripped with a line voltage error. No telling what damage it could have caused to my trailer. Also they no longer have a cable tv system due to a provider issue. The driveways are potted and need work also.

I had no service to call and make a reservation. I was welcomed with a friendly smile and professional service. The campground is clean and the facilities well maintained. I can't wait to go again!

Enjoyed the hot tub twice in my overnight stay. Friendly staff and decent amenities. Cabins look great. More expensive than most KOA's but for me the hot tub was worth it. I would stay here again, next time more than just a day.

I asked for a pull thru because we were only there for an overnight. Was put in one and charged extra! The problem was we barely fit and even though we said we had a slide out we only had about 2 inches left as we were blocked by the ultilitie post and to get that we had to park partly on the grass.

Very friendly service and a great site.

Excellent customer service. Great amenities. It’s a nice spot but the grounds could use a little love. Lamposts broken, and there several permanent residents living in the cabins and a few of the camp spots. It was perfect for an overnight as we were driving through the redwoods. Clean and safe. The staff are helpful and friendly.

Beautiful, friendly, helpful, & convenient place to stay. Close enough to walk to Historic Benbow Hotel for nice a meal. There's a wonderful golf course too.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for spending time with us at the KOA and Benbow Historic Inn! Glad to hear you got to enjoy many of our amenities and hope to see you again soon!

The location is really great & is right on the river by Benbow Inn.The resort has nice sized spots that are almost all full hookups & mature trees. With that said, the once green landscaping is dry & in need of care. Pool area lacks lounge chairs & is over ran by unattended children jumping & diving in. Most the staff are very young but are polite. The pool bathrooms really need attention as well.

Friendly staff 1) Grounds are looking tired and dated. 2) Cost is out of line with camping experience. 3) Need standards for long term tenants. (no junk, dead plants, etc. around the RV) 4) Except for the office building, landscaping was dry and not kept tidy. 5) Garbage bin area was very unattractive. 6) Restrooms at rear of park were fairly clean but did not smell clean.

We always enjoy our stay. The campground is clean, the staff is friendly and it’s very quiet. We had a deluxe patio site and loved it.

Warm welcome. Nice campground; clean and well organized.

Beautiful campsite, great staff.

Best bathrooms in a KOA and we have stayed in many. Our problem was the grounds. Mostly solid mats of burrs so our velcro dog picked up everyone she stepped on. We carried her to the only patch of green near us. Not fun for any of us.

All good, perfect.

Nothing about this KOA matches the description and photos. The bathrooms were disgusting. There is no green lawn. You pay for a premium patio site and the only difference in the cheap site and the expensive site is the difference in the table same exact site rundown place.

Very clean and beautiful

Everything is completely DRY.. I was shocked that it still advertises a 9 hole golf course... it was basically the color of HAY!! It also said there was a children's waterpark basically, they can only run it on the weekend and only for 10 minutes a daytime!!! ...come to find out according to CA law they can not run the water HOWEVER< that is not a excuse for advertising it!!
Sep 22, 2025
There is inadequate lighting along the road nearest the river and around the bathroom facilities. You need to remove dying trees and replant. Improve the landscaping. Staff was helpful and friendly however which was much appreciated.

We had to arrive late due to highway 101 being shut down and the staff made it so easy for us to get parked and setup. Thanks for a great overnight!

Your campground is a disgrace. Excuses about vineyards consuming water necessary to green up the golf course have been going on for years. The rv sites are dry as a bone and filthy. When checking in to our "premium" site - I had to spend time picking up tons of dog poop in our "dry grass" area and there was trash in the fire pit. Do you think you could enclose or at least paint the trash dumpster

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I apologize for the misinformation and not meeting expectations. The vineyards are not our problem, our pump for the course was ripped out of the river and we are waiting on Fish and Game to approve a well. There is no excuse for your site being dirty and ensure our newer staff will be more diligent

I have stayed at the Benbow KOA three times in the past couple of years and it always has been exceptional. I love the location, all the amenities, and the fact that people are respectful and quiet in the evenings.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. The grounds were clean and well maintained. Due to water restrictions most of the grass for the campground and golf course is dead. In addition they are only able to turn on the splash pad for 10min every hour on the weekends. Overall good experience!

We just stayed one night but, it is a lovely campground. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. It would be a great addition if they could add a dog park.

Loved all the trees, the kitties (they keep the mice at bay and out of RVs while being cute), the showers and the friendly staff. Most RV parks are little more than parking lots but this KOA is quite nice.

We stayed at the Benbow KOA for spring break 2024. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Check-in was a breeze. Since it was Easter weekend, the campground staff hosted an egg hunt for the kids with an appearance from the Easter Bunny. It was pretty awesome! We stayed in a FHU “comfort” patio site 52, with relatives staying in Tent Site T1, right across the road from our site. The RV site required minimal leveling and all hookups were well maintained. The site included patio furniture and a fire pit. The patio was nice since the grass was muddy from all the winter rain. The showers and bathrooms appeared clean and maintained. The hot tub was open, but it was too early in the season for the pool and splash pad. The laundry room was large and had newer machines. The gift shop had all the essentials for RVers and guests. There is also 2 arcade games, a Star Wars pinball machine and pool table in the lounge area of the front office. They have a small library of books and board games, dice and dominoes to use. The dog park area is on the smaller side, but there are some great pet walk areas around the resort. There is also a small 9 hole golf course next to the KOA. The WiFi was good and able to stream. The cable was not so good due to limited channels and fuzz (could have been my fault). The historic Benbow Inn across the way was a nice surprise with good food options, a full bar and traditional afternoon tea. It's a short walk on a nice path or you can drive there. We were within a few freeway exits of the Avenue of the Giants and a lot of other famous trees and redwood groves in the area. One exit away, in Garberville, there is a supermarket called Ray's Food Place and an awesome Mexican restaurant called El Cora Restaurant. There are fuel options in Garberville as well. I would definitely recommend Benbow KOA to others.

We arrived just before 8:00 p.m. with no reservations and we're greeted by Chloe and Juan who attended to our every need. Thank you for hiring the best. They are definitely an asset to your company. We so enjoyed our time there even though it was real short. Thank you again for your hospitality. You were amazing! Thank you again for such a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend your campground to anyone traveling

Best KOA cabins we have stayed in. Many models to choose from in the midst of Redwood country. We have stayed there many times, and they are always outstanding. They are very clean and spotless - you can walk around in your socks and they won't get dirty. Spacious and well stocked, towels, dishes, everything. Sheets are crisp. Staff is wonderful and helpful. You can dine at the adjacent historic Benbow Inn. Just wonderful.
