Join us Christmas Eve as we light hundreds of luminarias in our campground. (Weather permitting.)
Luminarias are made from brown paper bags weighted down with sand and illuminated from within by a lit candle. These are typically arranged in rows to create large and elaborate displays. The hope among Roman Catholics is that the lights will guide the spirit of the Christ child to one's home.
Along with this we will have a bonfire and s'mores.
The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging march through the high desert terrain of White Sands Missile Range, conducted in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their freedom, health and, in many cases, their very lives.
26 miles of high desert, 26 miles of pure perserverance.
Please know we are about 40 miles from where the march starts.
Alamogordo's United We Stand 9/11 Stair Climb Relay honors the fire fighters and other first responders who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.
Teams of up to four participants climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center in tribute to the ultimate sacrifice of the 9/11 heroes. In honor of the 343 firefighters lost that day, each participant carries at least one photo of a fallen FDNY member.
It is also First Responders Day - Free Museum Admission
