While this means some sites will no longer have direct access, these designated areas are conveniently located and will provide a safe and environmentally friendly way to enjoy kayaking.
Silt and Turbidity Fencing: You may notice silt and turbidity fencing in some areas right now along the mangroves while we work on upgrading our sites. These are temporary measures to protect water quality and prevent silt from entering the mangrove habitats during construction. We understand that this may be an adjustment, but it's an important step in safeguarding these natural resources.
Strict No-Disturbance Policy and Fines: The mangroves are highly protected under both state and federal laws. We ask all guests to respect the boundaries and not disturb these areas in any way. This includes avoiding any actions that could harm or remove mangrove plants. Please be aware that there are significant fines for anyone caught cutting or disturbing the mangroves, as these actions are strictly prohibited. The county is supportive of these efforts, and we are committed to maintaining compliance to protect these vital ecosystems.
