The heavy snow and frigid temperatures of Western New York are making us dream of campfires and warm summer fun. From spring festivals to fall apple harvests, the Sodus Point area offers an endless opportunity for summer memories. May 8 to May 17, The Rochester Lilac Festival takes place at Highland park in downtown Rochester, NY. The week long celebration of that beautiful lilac offers festival goers live music, local area food vendors, family fun, art work from local artists, and free tours of the parks world class collection of the lilacs. There’s even a lilac themed parade which should be well worth the visit. The neighboring town of Williamson hosts the Apple Blossom Festival May 14-17. This year’s theme is “Blossoming Back to the 90’s” and offers food vendors, carnival rides, craft vendors, and a fireworks display.
Sodus Point is known for its great fishing and the Sodus Pro/Am Fishing Tournament is a perfect opportunity for anglers of all ages and skills to compete for prizes and even bigger bragging rights. Taking place July 18 and 19th our campground is located just minutes away from the fun. The Sodus Point Lighthouse built in 1871, hosts their annual Artisan Festival July 31-August 2. The storied lighthouse is a stunning backdrop to the gathering which brings artists from all over the region to show off their work to the community and visitors alike. The Sodus Point Light House Museum is also home to a free concert series that takes place during the summer.

Farming has deep roots in Wayne County and the Great Wayne County Faire is a celebration of our community and that rich agricultural history. Taking place August 10-August 16. Food and craft vendors, livestock exhibits, rodeos, tractor pulls, and a demolition derby are all on schedule during week long calendar of events.
September highlights include the Rochester Fringe Festival in which world class performance art will take over venues throughout the city from September 15 through September 26. This well acclaimed festival is always a ton of fun. Centrally located in downtown Rochester, all performance venues are conveniently within walking distance of each other. You won’t want to miss the Purple Painted Lady Festival which takes place September 19th and September 20th. This gathering of local artists, live bands, and food trucks provides to charities through admission and promises to be a great time.
The dessert to another great camping season comes in the form of the Wayne County Apple Tour. It’s just about a given that the best apples in the world are grown right here in our little corner of the world and the Apple Tour is a great way to explore participating orchards and farms while sampling some of the best fruit in the world.
