Blue Water celebrates heroes during First Responders Weekend

3rd year thanking our community for the services they provide

Blue Water has once again celebrated local heroes including first responders and military and medical personnel at Outer Banks West/Currituck Sound KOA Holiday for their 3rd Annual First Responders Weekend from March 24th to the 26thIn addition to the variety of included amenities Outer Banks West KOA offers to help first responders have memorable experiences, the property also featured over 30 vendors over the weekend including Harley Davidson, Braxton Flags, Salty Sailor Apothecary, Old Man Design, and many more.

“We love giving back to our community whenever we have the opportunity,” said Angi Bingham, General Manager of Outer Banks West/Currituck Sound KOA Holiday.  “This has turned into a local tradition that many in our community look forward to every year, including our staff.”

This year’s event featured multiple food trucks, music from J-Heard & The Henchman and other acts, Bounce & Boogie Bounce House for the kids, a community bonfire, Patriot Guard Parade, and an appearance from the Lizard Land Reptile show.  The campground will also be honoring one of its own with the annual “Robert Helfant Memorial Parade”, paying tribute to the founder of the event who was a member of the Virginia Beach Fire Department for 26 years.

The 3rd annual First Responders Weekend also featured appearances by Smokey Bear, beer bingo, and a mobile cigar lounge.  All activities were open to the public throughout the weekend. Blue Water requested guests attending the event to “Pay it Forward” and contribute to a collection for the Currituck Animal Shelter.

The 3rd annual First Responders Weekend at Outer Banks West/Currituck Sound KOA Holiday would not have been possible without the support of Currituck Chamber of Commerce, Lower Currituck Fire Rescue, North Carolina Patriot Guard Riders, Currituck Animal Shelter, DJ Alan Bain, Outer Banks Harley Davidson and Sanctuary Vineyards.
