While there aren't any national parks directly adjacent to Ouray, Colorado, there are several within a reasonable driving distance - making Ouray a great basecamp for adventure. Here are a few notable ones:
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park: Located about 70 miles east of Ouray, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park features dramatic cliffs, deep canyons, and the Gunnison River. It offers scenic drives, hiking trails, and opportunities for wildlife viewing and stargazing.
Mesa Verde National Park: Situated approximately 120 miles southwest of Ouray, Mesa Verde National Park is renowned for its well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. The area offers boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and scenic drives, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
