Not fair to rate this KOA based on our overnight stay. It was freezing with snow flurries; it was during off season.

We love staying at the KOA in Onawa for the 6 months from April to October and this year was real good. The holidays they try to have something special for our grandkids who visit. They had a petting zoo a couple times that let the kids feed their animals. They had a kiddie parade and later a foam machine for the ��ids. They have completed their new playground which the kids �.

I had enough points to receive 10.00 off my price. But I was told staying only one night I wasn't allowed to use my points. This KOA had very little grass very dusty. It was windy during our stay, so much dust. The lake was hard to see as this place was packed. Looked like some trailers were there for the long haul and in poor condition. Probably will look elsewhere if I am in the area again

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

No all summer rain equals dust, dredging the lake equals low lake, you could have picked a site with a lake view but you picked the least expensive site for your overnight stay.

Our stay was great. It gave us a chance to relax and enjoy time with our son and friends before coming home. Facilities were resplendent in fall colors and early morning/late day walks were thoroughly enjoyed! Well done!

We loved our stay at this campground! It is a quiet, peaceful and quaint little place in Iowa, Staff was friendly and accommodating to our wants, requests and needs. Pool was refreshing and clean as well as bathrooms and laundry. This place sits on a nice lake with all water sports accessible. Close proximity to larger metropolis if you cant find something in the kampstore or store in town.

we have stayed at the Onawa/blue Lake KOA several times and everytime has been fantastic. The Kampground is always clean and well kept. The employees are always professional, Knowledgeable and polite. My family always feel at home there and are treated with respect. We love to camp there and will return as often as we can.

Beautiful setting by lake. Friendly staff. Very cold weather that was unexpected so would have been nice to have warmer bathroom temp but understand due to costs. Would stay again if in area. Very quiet and restful.

Upon arrival the office looked like a grenade went off. A complete mess. The grounds keeper decided to mow all of the leaves and dirt stirring up dust and stones which struck parked trailers. No respect for peoples trailers.

Pretty funny since the entire unit is enclosed. Office was closed for the season and in remodel state I guess we should have turned you away for not having made a reservation prior to arrival instead of allowing you in the office or campground.

Our 1st time here. Just an overnight on our trip east. 98% of the CG is seasonal. Only 1 row of travelers. Fortunately almost none of the seasonals were occupied otherwise the camp would have been extremely packed. Not sure why KOA allows such a large portion of sites to be seasonal. It makes travelers feel like intruders in an established community.

We stayed 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The staff was helpful and friendly. The facilities were clean and well maintained. We will definitely be back!

Very quiet location this time of year since it was one week before their winter closure. Would have given more stars if the woman’s bathroom didn’t have all kinds of spider webs and cobwebs around the the windows and light fixtures. Creepy crawlers Greek some people out…

Staff were friendly and helpful. Campground consisted of many mature trees that provided great shade. Very nice place.

Although it was a very convenient location right off the freeway, it was the dirtiest and dustiest campground we’ve ever stayed at. Dirt multiple inches thick surrounded the site and was where we stepped off of our steps. Can’t imagine in rain. Light wind and people driving through made a consistent dust bowl effect throughout the campground. The pull through site was Unlevel as well. Needs TL

This KOA has tent sites located right by a beautiful lake. Very pleased with the location, but since I booked toward the end of September the bathrooms had developed a collection of spiderwebs. Decorations for Halloween perhaps? ;)

Staff-awesome and accommodating. Clean. Some sites smaller and a bit unlevel but good. I would stay there again!!

Our hose for sewer didn't reach. We were not told about it being back further than normal We have not had any issues at other facilities. This was an inconvenience. We won't be back

We were not met when we arrived at 1:30 in the afternoon and when we finally met the camp host it wasn’t friendly she came to us to tell us we couldn’t have a rug, never even a hello or welcome. The second time was because we didn’t have the sign hung up in our truck. If we were initially met we might have known all this. The most unfriendly person we’ve come across I do not recommend this

Check in is 3 we staff accordingly and are short staffed. Rules on site map that you picked up in night reservation. Told twice about rug, speeding and not stopping at stop signs...all posted, not sure where the confusion is?

The water was brown and never cleared up in the 3 nights we were there. The office people were missing most of the time. When they were there, they were rude and not helpful. The only adult in the office was more interested in playing on her cell phone. The available sights are very few. The campground is very full of long term campers on the best sights.

Nice little KOA that was built for older(no slides) RV’s, but it is a beautiful area. Sites are very close to each other but it is quiet and a great park. We would stay again if we were passing through the area.

Third stay here and has always been great. Check in was a breeze. Young adults at check in had all the right answers and were very helpful. The pool is well kept. We were able to purchase propane. We didn't have kids with us but noticed how nice the playground area was. Laundry was clean and worked fine. Nice fire pits. Easy access off the interstate. Close to carwash and 2 gas stations. Look forward to staying here again as we drive back to Canada after snowbirding in Florida.

Beautiful park, location. Updated bathrooms. Level sites, nice fire pit. The family staff was articulate and thorough. Truly a pleasure to deal with. I wish them the best.
