Friendly staff. Nice pool. Close to the highway so the traffic noise is a little loud but it was a good stop for our trip home.

Great

The campsites are extremely close you can literally stretch out your arms and touch the camper next to you ! The camp k9 could use some attention The grass should be mowed more often and the utility hookups could be updated. The pool and showers were clean and sanitary!

This campground was the nicest and had the most green space of any campground we stayed at during our 10 week road trip. It had a frisbe golf course, nice playground, and a pond to fish in. They also had trash cans throughout the park so you did not have to walk very far.

Very narrow roads, very close sites. Could not put our awning out because it would have touched our neighbors slide-out. And they charged us $7.00 more dollars for the night, just as the previous reviews say. This was our last stop on a 17 day trip and no other KOA or campground did this because we booked early in the year. Wasn’t worth the first price let alone more being added on.

We had a great stay. Took our grandkids with us. Lots for them to do. They loved fishing, the jump pad, arcade and the pool. Employees were all friendly and take pride in their jobs and safety for all. Bathrooms were the cleanest. Pool and pool area clean. Store had a little of everything. Great tshirts! Thanks Rachel, Moses, Sherrill, Jeff for making our stay great! (Just to name a few)

Those were the smallest sites we have ever stayed in!

Really nice people and clean grounds. Even our feller campers were fun. The only negative is that it is pretty close to the highway.

I would only book an end site with a patio. The other sites are TOO narrow. CG is close to highway and staff is very nice. Good for an overnight stay and make sure you aren't bothered by road noise as our site was next to the highway and you hear it 24/7. We didn't mind it. Felt bad for other campers in narrow sites, they could bare extend slides and awnings without touching other rigs!

Great stop while travelling thru IA. Right off the highway, gas and food at the exit. Super clean and air conditioned bath house plus full hookups. The only caution I would give is you to the light sleepers. It is right next to 80 so you do hear the highway. Not an issue for us as we run a fan all night. Great stop, Thanks !

Very clean! Staff was great! We stayed on a Friday night and Saturday morning pancakes are available to help you get on the road to your next destination quickly. Pool was sparkling clean. Yes the highway was kind of loud but with our ac running it masked the sound. One of the best!

Nice stop off the interstate for the night. We really enjoyed walking the well maintained nature trail after a long day of driving.

Very relaxing stay.

The staff did a great job at gapping out the sites as they were small. We did an end lot but due to the sewage hose distance we were away from the patio by 20-30 feet and had a tree right by our awning so it barely could go out. But staff were great. Lots to do there for the kids.

We had a fantastic visit to the Newton KOA! Small but extremely clean & the staff is amazing! Ron & Clarence really went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The shuttle back and forth to the speedway was amazing. Also, we can't say thank you enough to Kevin for helping us with a flat tire on the interstate after we had already checked out. You saved the day! We can't wait to stay again!

Was only one night but it is a very well run KOA. Clean, quiet, well staffed. If ever in the area we will be back.

Check in was amazing, we were greeted by Jose, or was so welcoming. We were traveling with a uhaul and extra vehicle, the staff was so helpful and accommodating, even moved our site so we could have all of our stuff in one location. Highly recommend to all travelers, thank you so much for being so great!!!

I wasn't there for long, just a quick overnight. However, I felt very welcomed from the moment I arrived until I left.

The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The campground was very well planned out and tidy. The grass was cut and the sites were very nice. Plenty to do. Country setting but close to gas and restaurants. Would surely stay again! Sincerely, Harley Bishop Jr.

It was okay old basketball goal little bitty jumping spot and pool which is all okay! Except the fact they had me at the very top of the hill right next to the highway in the rockiest part of the campground with no shade. They also requested I show them my medical papers for my dog which is illegal seeing my animal is a service animal they wouldn't allow his breed but nice people and understanding

Jose was a wonderful host. Upon arrival he greeted us and ensured we were guided to our site. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The KOA was very kid and dog friendly. There were several things for kids to play on plus the pool. Access from I80 was quite easy. Sites were very close together; we felt cramped. Not KOA's fault but I80 is extremely noisy.
Jul 21, 2024
It was good except the sites were so close together that there was no privacy to be outside.

Nice park, however right on the interstate so noisy. Clean restrooms.

I just stayed overnight so I didn't really get a chance to check out the amenities. I sleep very soundly and it’s a good thing here. You are right next to the interstate and it is very loud! Other than that all went well for me. Nice pull through site so I didn't have to disconnect my Jeep.

Big scary situation We arrived at 9pm but at 3pm that day some bought an item in the camp store and it was changed to our credit card I called and they refunded me but did not seem to concerned our credit number was not secure??

Little loud but quiet enjoy able, love this place. The person who runs this place knows what she's doing. Always clean, don't understand why lower bathroom is locked up. Still would never leave a bad review. Would love to die in this location if I was going to go 😂. I love KOA. Have found some wonderful artifacts. This is a whole other experience only artifact hunters would understand. Bathrooms are always clean and smells fresh. Everyone works hard to keep it clean. Ripped off 3:00 dollars machine , still better than driving ten miles.

Can't give an accurate review as we only stayed overnight. The sites were long. So we didn't have to unhook. Phone staff were friendly.

After arriving I researched the different types of KOAs. I learned there are two types, Journey and Holiday. The Newton/Des Moines East KOA is a Journey. The Journey KOAs are near highways and often have less amenities. For this KOA the highway part is true but they have several amenities for campers such as a pool, jump pad, playground, dog park, and horseshoe pit. The staff are very friendly and during our stay there was a great amount of maintenance, painting tables and site poles, being done. Regardless of the highway noise, this was a nice campground.
