General Campground Information

After Hours Check-In

We have a simple process for your type of check-in: whether one of our staff is available to greet you, your trip puts your arrival after hours, or you need a place to stop for a time before reaching your final destination.

When checking in after hours with an existing reservation:

  • Locate the Night Registration Box: Head to the main entrance porch outside the front office.
  • Retrieve Your Welcome Packet: Look for an envelope clearly labeled with your last name
  • Collect Essential Information: Inside the envelope, you will find your pre-assigned site number, a printed campground map layout, the current Wi-Fi network password, and any necessary gate or facility codes.
  • Locate Your Site: Follow the map straight to your site. All RV spaces at this specific location are pull-thru sites, making late-night parking highly accessible.
  • Observe Quiet Hours: Park your rig smoothly and remain mindful that strict campground quiet hours begin exactly at 10:00 PM. No noisy setup or generator usage is allowed past this window.

For walk-in campers:
  • Check Available Sites: Look inside the night registration box for unassigned "Walk-In" envelopes. These will list the specific site numbers left available for the night.
  • Fill Out the Registration Slip: Complete the paperwork inside the envelope with your personal details, vehicle layout, and length of stay.
  • Insert Payment: Place your cash, check, or authorized credit card information directly into the envelope slot. Drop it securely into the office drop-box.
  • Check In with the Office: Stop by the front desk the following morning after 8:00 AM to officially validate your registration.

Campfires

The primary rules regarding fires at this campground include:
  • Designated Fire Rings Only: Wood fires are strictly permitted only within the provided metal fire rings.
  • Placement Restrictions: Placing a fire pit directly on the grass or concrete pads is strictly prohibited. Violating this rule will result in an immediate $100 fine charged to your site registration.
  • You are not allowed to cut down or prune any local trees, limbs, or shrubs on the property to use as kindling.
  • Firewood Availability: Safe, seasoned firewood bundles are available for purchase directly at the KampStore.
  • Constant Supervision Required: You must carefully monitor your fire at all times and completely extinguish the embers with water before leaving the site unattended or going to sleep for the evening.
  • Local Fire Bans: Because the campground is tucked into the heavily forested Shasta-Trinity National Forest region, all wood campfires are subject to temporary suspension if the local fire chief or United States Forest Service implements an emergency regional burn ban due to high winds or dry conditions

The Town of Mt. Shasta

Shasta Boulevard, our park is less than two miles from downtown Mount Shasta City. This vibrant mountain town perfectly balances historic, small-town charm with a wealth of outdoor adventures, distinct local shops, and breathtaking natural wonders.
  • Historic Downtown Dining & Shopping: Take a short 3-minute drive or scenic bike ride into the heart of town to explore tree-lined streets filled with artisan boutiques, spiritual bookshops, and cozy coffee houses. Food lovers can indulge in excellent local dining, ranging from fresh mountain-town bakeries to craft breweries like Mt. Shasta Brewing Co. and local favorite eateries.
  • The Sacred Headwaters at City Park: Mount Shasta is world-renowned for its pristine glacial runoff. Downtown is home to premier outfitting shops like The Fifth Season, where you can rent technical climbing gear, purchase localized trail maps, check daily mountain weather updates, or hire an expert guide for your ascent.

A quick 15-mile drive from your campsite brings you to Lake Siskiyou, featuring clear water, kayak/paddleboard rentals, and a spectacular 7-mile hiking trail loop. Just above it sits Castle Lake, a dramatic glacial cirque lake perfect for high-alpine swimming, fishing, and hiking up to the Castle Crags wilderness overlooks.
  • The Mount Shasta Scenic Byway: For a breathtaking afternoon drive, jump onto the Everitt Memorial Highway right from town. This paved scenic byway climbs up to 7,900 feet on the slopes of the mountain, offering accessible trailheads, alpine meadows, and panoramic vistas of the entire Shasta Valley.
  • Hassle-Free Provisioning: Keeping your RV pantry or tent cooler fully stocked is simple. Downtown features multiple full-service grocery hubs, including Ray's Food Place and the Mount Shasta Supermarket, alongside pharmacies and fueling stations.

CAMPGROUND EXTRAS & GUEST AMENITIES

To ensure your stay at the base of Mount Shasta is as comfortable as it is adventurous, we proudly offer a range of on-site recreational activities and guest services. Please review our guidelines for utilizing these extra campground amenities below:
  • Seasonal Swimming Pool: Our outdoor pool is open seasonally from Late May (Memorial Day Weekend) through Late September (Labor Day Weekend). Pool hours are 9:00 AM to Dusk daily. There is no lifeguard on duty; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Banana Bike Rentals: Fun, low-riding banana bikes are available for rent directly through the KampStore. Rentals are billed hourly, and helmets are strongly recommended for all riders cruising the campground loops.
  • KampK9® Off-Leash Dog Park: Give your furry co-pilots a chance to stretch their legs! Our fully fenced KampK9 arena is available for off-leash play from sunrise to sunset. Owners must remain inside the fence with their pets and clean up immediately after them.
  • Sports & Game Room: Challenge your family to outdoor basketball, shuffleboard, and horseshoes, or escape the elements inside our indoor recreation room featuring an arcade and table tennis lounge. Equipment can be checked out for free at the front desk.
  • Premium Fire Pit Rentals: If your standard site does not feature a luxury fire area, upgraded heavy-duty fire pit rentals are available via the KampStore. Only store-purchased firewood or approved local bundles may be burned to protect our pristine mountain air quality.
  • On-Site Guest Laundry: Our modern, token-operated laundry facilities are open 24 hours a day in the central restroom building for your convenience. Tokens and detergent sheets are stocked daily at the store counter.
  • Train Buff Earplugs: Our campground is proudly located along a historic mountain train route. Children and rail fans love watching the engines pass, but for our light sleepers, complimentary premium earplugs are available at the front desk upon request.

Quiet hours

The strict campground quiet hours at the Mount Shasta City KOA Holiday are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM daily. To maintain a peaceful environment for all campers, you must follow these specific night rules during this window:
  • No Loud Noises: All music, loud conversations, and electronic playback devices must be turned off or lowered so they cannot be heard outside your immediate site boundary.
  • Generator Ban: Running on-board or external RV generators is strictly prohibited between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
  • Vehicle Curfew: Guests are asked to minimize driving vehicles through the campground loops during these hours to prevent headlight disturbance and engine noise.
  • Children & Pets: Children must return to their registered campsites by 10:00 PM, and barking pets must be kept quietly inside your rig or tent.
  • Early Departures: Please keep noise to a minimum.

Damage & Property Fines
The park charges specific damage fees to correct site negligence or broken utilities:

  • Fire Pit on the Grass: $100 fine if you move a campfire ring or start a fire on a grassy zone.
  • Sprinkler & Campground Infrastructure Damage: A $25 minimum fine plus the exact cost of parts and labor if your rig damages property or breaks any utility hookups.

Check-in and Check-out: Tent Sites

Check-in by 2:00 pm ---- Check-out by 11:00 am

Children

Mount Shasta City KOA Holiday enforces specific guidelines regarding children to prioritize safety and maintain a family-friendly atmosphere.
  • Mandatory Supervision: Parents and guardians are legally responsible for their children's safety and behavior at all times. Children under the age of 12 must be physically accompanied by an adult when utilizing any campground amenities, recreation areas, the game room, or the public restrooms.
  • Pool Safety Rules: The seasonal swimming pool operates without a lifeguard (swim at your own risk). Because of this, children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at the pool deck at all times.
  • Playground Restrictions: The on-site playground is strictly open during daylight hours only. Parents are required to remain present at the playground area while their children are playing on the equipment.
  • Quiet Hours & Curfew: Children must return to their designated family campsite by the start of campground quiet hours at 10:00 PM.
  • Tent Allocation: If you are tent camping, the park defines a standard "family" as two adults and unmarried children under 18. They allow an extra small tent (up to 8'x8') on your dedicated tent site specifically to accommodate children.
  • Booking Fees: Children ages 0 to 5 stay for free at this property, while kids aged 6 to 17 may carry a minimal extra-person fee depending on your site configuration

Check-In & Check-Out: RV Sites

Check-In begins @ 2:00pm, with Check-Out @ 11:00am

Pet Policy

The Mount Shasta City KOA Holiday is a pet-friendly park, but it enforces strict rules to keep all campers and animals safe.
The primary components of their pet policy include:
  • Leash Requirements: All dogs must be kept on a physical leash no longer than 6 feet at all times when outside. The only exceptions are when the dog is securely inside your personal vehicle/RV, playing in the designated on-site dog park, or in our pet-friendly Signature Site.
  • Supervision Rules: You are never allowed to leave a pet tethered or unattended outside at your campsite.
  • Cabin Accommodation Fees: If you are booking a cabin or lodging unit rather than an RV or tent site, there is a $30 non-refundable pet deposit per pet, per stay.
  • Behavior and Nuisance Controls: Barking must be kept to an absolute minimum. Dogs displaying hostile, aggressive, or defensive behavior will be asked to leave the campground immediately, along with their owners, without a refund.
  • Waste Disposal: Pet owners must immediately clean up after their animals and properly discard all droppings into designated trash receptacles

Check-In & Check-Out: Cabins

Check-In is 2:00 pm, and Check-Out is 11:00 am

Satellite / Wi-Fi / Cell Service

The KOA understands that winding down with a movie, listening to some music while BBQ'ing, and staying in touch with loved ones are optimal for some while traveling. Please note that while we have all services available at the KOA, we are snuggled in amongst many trees and mountains, so some services may not work or may become slow or glitchy. We apologize if this is part of your experience, and we continue to find ways to upgrade and improve our services to make them more accommodating.

Store/Office Hours

The general store hours at the KampStore/Reservation Desk are typically 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, and 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sundays.

Because this location is open all year round, the operational schedule shifts depending on the season:

Peak Summer Season (May - September): The store aligns with the maximum campground operating hours (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM) to accommodate summer travelers, late-dusk check-ins, and campfire wood requests.

Off-Peak & Winter Season (October - April): Store hours often shrink significantly due to early freezes and low winter occupancy. KampStore hours can be reduced to 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily during deep winter stretches.

Emergency, Incident, & Utility Failure Procedures

Our top priority is ensuring that you, your family, and your fellow campers enjoy a safe, peaceful, and memorable outdoor experience. While we maintain our resort infrastructure to the highest standards, accidents and utility anomalies can happen. We kindly ask that you familiarize yourself with our safety protocols below so we can work together to handle any unexpected situations swiftly and efficiently.

1. Emergencies & Personal Injuries: In the event of a medical emergency, severe injury, or fire, immediately dial 911. Once emergency services are dispatched, you must notify campground management via the front desk at 530-926-4029 (or via our after-hours line at 530-926-9905 for late-night events) so staff can safely guide emergency vehicles to your site. All accidents or injuries on campground property must be reported to the office within 24 hours to file a formal Incident Report.

2. Site Utility Failures: Do not attempt to repair campground infrastructure yourself. If you experience a utility failure at your site—including a blown electrical pedestal breaker, low water pressure, a water leak, or a sewer backup—please contact the front office immediately. For utility failures occurring after business hours, call our urgent on-site maintenance line at 530-926-9905. A technician will be dispatched promptly to isolate the issue and restore service.

3. Liability & Property Damage: Registered guests assume full financial responsibility for any accidental or negligent damage caused to campground utility pedestals, water spigots, landscaping, or structures by their party, guests, or equipment.

Evacuation Routes

  • Evacuation Sirens & Alerts: In an emergency evacuation scenario, park staff will notify guests via an audible siren, loudspeaker announcements, and physical site-by-site alerts.
  • Primary Gathering Assembly Point: Upon receiving an evacuation order, all guests not inside a vehicle should immediately walk to the main entrance parking lot directly adjacent to the front office/KampStore.
  • Primary Vehicle Exit Route: Drive your vehicle slowly out of the main campground loop road toward the main exit gate, turning onto North Mt. Shasta Boulevard. Follow all directional arrows and emergency staff commands.
  • Secondary Vehicle Exit Route: If the main entrance is compromised or blocked, park staff will direct vehicles to exit through the rear emergency access gates.
  • Rig Abandonment Protocol: If you are towing or driving a large RV and a fast-moving threat is imminent, you must disconnect and abandon your rig if instructed by emergency personnel. Human life takes absolute priority over property.

Severe Weather Safety & Action Plans

  • Weather Monitoring & Alerts: Guests are highly encouraged to monitor local weather radio stations or mobile alerts for Siskiyou County. Park staff will broadcast urgent alerts if conditions escalate to a warning level.
  • High Wind Site Security: When high wind warnings are issued, you must immediately retract all RV awnings, secure loose outdoor patio furniture, stow pop-up tents, and bring lightweight items inside. Flying debris poses a severe hazard to canvas structures and vehicles.
  • Lightning & Thunderstorms: If a severe lightning storm moves into the Mt. Shasta area, vacate all open outdoor recreation zones, the swimming pool, and the playground. Seek immediate shelter inside a hard-sided vehicle or RV, or inside the main campground office building. Avoid standing near tall pine trees or utility poles.
  • Freezing Temperatures & Snow: During winter operations, if temperatures are forecast to drop below 32°F, guests must disconnect their external city water hoses overnight to prevent frozen park spigots or use heat tape. Please clear heavy snow accumulation off your vehicle rooftops and RV slides to avoid structural strain.

Deposits, Cancellations, and Payment Policies

Standard Deposit Amounts: A mandatory deposit equal to the full cost of a one-night stay is securely charged to your credit card immediately at the time of booking for all standard RV, tent, and lodging configurations. For guests with pets, a $30.00 non-refundable pet deposit per pet, per stay will be applied.
  • Approved Payment Methods: We securely process all major digital payments. Acceptable methods include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and contactless debit systems. We do not accept personal checks upon arrival, and text/email payment updates are not authorized for security compliance. All refunds are credited directly back to the original card utilized to process the initial one-night deposit.
  • Standard Cancellation Policies: If you need to cancel a standard booking, you must notify the front office over the phone by 4:00 PM before your designated deadline window.
  • [list]
  • RV & Tent Sites: Requires a minimum 7-day cancellation notice prior to your arrival date. Eligible cancellations made before this window will receive a full refund of your one-night deposit minus a $20.00 administrative cancellation fee. Cancellations made less than 7 days out forfeit the entire one-night deposit.
  • Cabins & Lodging: Requires a minimum 28-day cancellation notice prior to your arrival date. Eligible cancellations made before this window will receive a full refund of your one-night deposit minus a $20.00 administrative cancellation fee. Cancellations made less than 28 days out forfeit the entire one-night deposit.

  • Holiday Weekends & Special Events: During peak high-occupancy cycles (including Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day weekends), specific minimum-stay constraints apply. Holiday cancellation notice windows expand significantly: 14 days notice is required for RV/Tent sites to salvage your one-night deposit, and 14 days notice is required for all Cabins and Lodges. Failure to meet these holiday deadlines results in a complete forfeiture of your multi-night event deposit.
  • Extended Stays (Long-Term Rules): Guests booking extended or month-to-month RV spaces are required to provide a last month's rent deposit along with a $250.00 refundable security deposit for incidental tracking. Rigs must pass a basic infrastructure check to ensure they comply with modern campground hookup safety guidelines. Early departures or mid-stay check-outs on extended packages are not eligible for partial refunds of any remaining deposit balances.
  • No-Shows & Weather Discomforts: Please note that KOA corporate policies explicitly state that refunds of your one-night deposit are never issued for unannounced no-shows, early checkout departures, or standard discomforts of nature (such as mountain rain or smoke shifts).

    Propane Station Onsite

    • Operating & Dispensing Hours: Propane dispensing is available daily during regular KampStore business hours, from 8:00 AM to Dusk. For safety compliance and maximum visibility, propane pumping is strictly halted after dark.
    • Accommodating All Tank Layouts: Our commercial dispensing station is fully equipped to fill both removable DOT cylinders (such as standard 20-lb, 30-lb, or 40-lb barbeque and travel trailer tanks) and on-board ASME motorhome tanks for large drivable rigs.
    • Hassle-Free Drive-Up Access: The propane refueling island is strategically positioned with wide, clear drive-up lanes, allowing even the largest class-A motorhomes and fifth-wheels to pull up safely alongside the dispenser without tight maneuvering.
    • Certified Staff & Payment: For safety and liability reasons, all tank inspections and fuel dispensing must be completed by a certified campground technician. Payments are calculated by the gallon or flat cylinder rate and can be processed using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express directly at the station or billed straight to your site registration.
    • Strict Safety & Inspection Rules: All tanks must be un-mounted from vehicles prior to filling (unless it is a permanently fixed ASME motorhome tank). Per federal safety guidelines, all passengers and pets must exit the vehicle during the refueling process, and all open flames, pilot lights, or engines must be completely turned off. We cannot legally fill tanks that are expired, rusted, or structurally compromised.

    Seasonal Outdoor Swimming Pool

Cool off after a day of hiking the mountain trails or simply soak up the summer sun at our pristine outdoor swimming pool! Located centrally within the resort, our swimming facility offers the perfect refreshing escape for the entire family. To ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all our guests, please review our operating hours and safety regulations below.
    • Operating Hours: Our swimming pool is open seasonally from Late May (Memorial Day Weekend) through Late September (Labor Day Weekend). Daily swim hours are from 9:00 AM to Dusk. The pool area is locked promptly at sunset for safety and maintenance.
    • No Lifeguard on Duty: All swimming is at your own risk. Guests are expected to practice safe water habits at all times.
    • Mandatory Child Supervision: Children under the age of 14 must be physically accompanied and actively supervised by an adult (18 or older) at all times while inside the fenced pool deck.
    • Proper Swim Attire Required: Standard, clean swimwear is required for entry to the pool. Toddlers and children who are not fully potty-trained must wear approved, leak-proof swim diapers at all times while in the water.
    • Strict Safety Restrictions: For the health and comfort of all campers, glass containers, food, alcohol, and smoking/vaping are strictly prohibited inside the fenced pool area. No diving, running, horseplay, or loud music is permitted on the pool deck.
    • No Pets Allowed: While we love your furry co-pilots, animals are strictly barred from entering the fenced pool enclosure due to local health department codes (with the exception of legally documented task-trained service animals).

    Visitor Policy

At Mount Shasta City KOA Holiday, we delight in welcoming family and friends to join our registered guests for a day of making memories at the base of the mountain. However, to maintain a safe environment, manage parking constraints, and ensure our premium amenities do not become overcrowded, we require all-day visitors to adhere to the following campground policies:
    • Mandatory Office Registration: All visitors who are not part of your initial reservation party must stop by the main front desk or KampStore to register immediately upon arriving on the property. Unregistered visitors will be asked to leave the premises.
    • Visitor Day-Use Hours: Registered day visitors are welcome to enjoy the campground grounds and facilities between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM daily. All visitors must exit the resort property promptly at 10:00 PM to respect our campground quiet hours.
    • Visitor & Parking Fees: Day-use visitor fees are $5.00 per adult (ages 18+) and $3.00 per child (ages 6–17). Children aged 5 and under enter for free. Due to limited space, visitor vehicles must park in designated overflow parking zones near the front office rather than at your individual site pad.
    • Amenity Access: Registered day visitors have full access to our campground amenities—including the playground, sports courts, and seasonal swimming pool—provided they are accompanied by the registered site host.
    • Visitor Pet Rules: Day visitors bringing pets must provide up-to-date proof of vaccination at the front desk upon arrival. Visitor pets are subject to the same strict 6-foot leash rules and behavioral standards as overnight guest pets.
    • Host Responsibility: Registered overnight campers are legally and financially responsible for the behavior, safety, and actions of their day visitors. Any property damage or rule violations caused by a visitor will be billed directly to the primary site host's credit card on file.
