Deer Creek Lake

Located an hour east of Columbus in Fayette and Pickaway counties, Deer Creek Lake houses approximately 1,290 acres of freshwater. The fishing area features a marina, boat ramps, docks, picnic areas and a swimming beach. Anglers can expect to catch bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, largemouth bass, saugeye and more at Deer Creek Lake.

Buckeye Lake

Buckeye Lake in Fairfield, Licking and Perry Counties is 23 miles east of Columbus. Initially, the state built this lake to provide water to the state's canal system. Now, it is a state nature preserve and a 2,873-acre recreational lake. It is a fan-favorite for anglers after perch, bluegill, bass, crappie, catfish and other fish species. 

Buckeye Lake is also a popular destination for boating. You can bring electric boats, sailboats, canoes and rowboats onto the water. 

Antrim Park

Located in Franklin County, Antrim Park is a 30-foot deep, 120-acre lake with clean, clear waters and a wheelchair-accessible dock. The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department stocks the lake with rainbow trout annually and keeps the lake's banks and the surrounding parks in excellent condition year-round. Be advised that boats are not allowed on the lake.

Alum Creek Lake

Alum Creek Lake is an angler-friendly reservoir in Alum Creek State Park in Delaware County. This reservoir boasts up to 3,387 acres of freshwater, making it a popular destination for boating, fishing, swimming and kayaking. The reservoir's many coves and inlets provide perfect fishing spots for catching bass, crappie, muskie, saugeye and bluegill.  

Hoover Reservoir
