Campground Reviews

This is a very pretty RV park just outside the west entrance to RMNP. What stood out was how friendly and helpful the staff were. And the bathrooms were immaculate. This was one of the nicest KOA's that I've stayed at. Very highly recommended.

The staff helped me deal with an uncomfortable situation with perfect professionalism. They couldn't have done a better job and they helped turn a potentially bad situation into a lovely stay. Thank you!

Super convenient to town, just my husband, myself and our 3 year old grandson. First time at a KOA. We had friends camping there too and the kids had so much fun. Bathrooms were very clean and the camp employees very helpful and courteous. Will definitely go back.

We had a very relaxing few days! This is our 10th year coming to this KOA and it just keeps getting better! We saw a mama moose and her baby, (just ask our dog ), every day we were there. The weather was perfect, the campground was very quiet and the staff was amazing. We had a very nice conversation with Greg the morning before we left. Already have our reservations for next year! Thank you!

Front office in person & on the phone were VERY RUDE. We witnessed a husband and wife employee have a fued and yell at eachother. 3 reservations we messed up and 1 of our Group Trailer site was misbooked. My cousin was forced to relocate their trailor on the last day. A hike was cut short for 1 to come back & fix the problem. A Lake day was cut short to relocate the trailer. Bad service all around

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We apologize for your experience. The personnel involved in your experience are no longer with our campground and were dismissed as soon as we learned of this issue. When the guest wanted to extend their stay, there was already a guest locked into the original site.

Enjoyed every moment, from the cheery and helpful staff to the moose wondering thru the campground! Our campsite has a majestic view enhanced by a bubbling creek.

Our large group booked Individual reservations, & due to the employees incompetency, they managed to misbook 3 separate reservations, & instead of fixing & apologizing the went on to be extremely rude, relocated a large trailer to a new spot on our last night. VERY INCONVENIENT! Many of us have the same last name, they managed to confuse the reservations. We had over 10 cabins 7 Trailor sites.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We apologize for the confusion around the site reservations. However, in the end, we were able to resolve the booking challenges and make the reservation for the group. When the guest wanted to extend their stay, there was already a guest locked into the original site.

My only issue was although it was great having the baggies for dog poop around the park there was no where to dispose of it except the main dumpster. Everything else was great.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We live in bear country. Because dog poop trash cans are often used for regular trash and food scrapes, additional trash cans leads to problems with bears.

Our tent site was very small and crammed against the other sites. The tent pad needed maintenance and was eroding/ not level. There was another large group of people who were very loud and playing loud music/karaoke that the entire facility could hear. Honestly, I have stayed here at a different tent site before and enjoyed myself, but I would not come back based on my most recent experience.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are currently in the process of releveling the tent area. We hope you will visit us in the future to experience the improvements. We apologize for your less than favorable experience with the noise. In the future, please contact us to allow us to respond accordingly.

I cannot express how much we enjoyed staying at this KOA! Our beautiful campsite overlooking RMNP was one of our favorite campsites ever - we already booked it for next year! I have never seen so many hummingbirds in my life - they were so entertaining! We loved being so close to the park entrance and going for before-sunrise drives to see all of the moose! Fall 2026 can’t come soon enough!

Fairly quiet area. Not a fan of not parking by tent site, just requires more trips to/from the car. Campsite 6 did not have a great spot for your tent. People would also walk between our tent and our picnic table due to location of parking area. Would also walk right in front of our tent to get to their campsite from the bathroom- and within 2’ of tent. Only bonus was we had a bear proof box.

Nice clean showers and bathrooms. Our site was very private. Moose in the campground made it even better. Great location at the west entrance to RMNP and the restaurants in Grand Lake. Would most definitely stay there again. All staff were very nice and helpful.

Tent site extremely difficult to access from tent parking for older people.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for your feedback. If you visit us in the future, we have two tent sites that are easier to access for our elderly guests. Please let us know and we will do our best to reserve one of those sites instead.

Great staff, extremely clean and well run park. I always stay there, at least twice a year and have always enjoyed everything. Great place to stay.

This was probably the best KOA we’ve ever stayed at. Campground was very clean and sites are well spaced. Staff was very friendly and welcoming and constantly busy making everything look nice. We will definitely be back. Grand Lake is a beautiful town with easy access to RMNP.

The blinds on the room should be replaced. They were all falling apart.

Everyone who works there are sooooo nice and friendly.

A moose was in the camp when we arrived and the cabin and bathrooms were very clean. We love this place due to the proximity to the national park, trails, Grand Lake, and all of the animals we have seen while staying here. This camp makes relaxing easy!

Cabin, no bathroom. Clean bathrooms, and showers within walking distance. Beautiful views all around!

Be prepared for very cold summer night temperatures. Difficult to navigate the property at night. Fairly clean bathrooms.

We love this campground and stay here every year. It is clean, well-kept and family friendly. The staff is great too! Our only issue this year was kids screaming and people partying past 10 PM on Thursday night. We had to call the after hours line but they took care of it. I wish someone from the staff did rounds at 10 PM to tell people to be quiet.

We love staying at the Grand Lake KOA. It is extremely well run, with courteous, outgoing and friendly staff. The sites are roomy and pretty. We woke up one day to see a mule deer in front of our trailer. It is so close to Rocky Mountain National Park that you literally drive out of the KOA and into the Park. The picturesque town of Grand Lake is a great place to spend time as well. Love it here!

Nice cozy campground with a lovely walking trail into town. Beautiful lake, nice restaurants and shops.

Very friendly office and support staff. Loved the size of the campsites and the amenities at the deluxe RV sites. Access to the Rocky Mountain National park could not have been better being right next to the entrance. Added bonus was moose and deer walking through the campground. The town of Grand Lake was within minutes and had a really cool western vibe with unique shops and restaurants.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Great RV park with lovely, helpful staff and good and clean bathroom facilities. Located halfway between National park entrance and the town/lake. The park itself is very well maintained. Would be happy to stay there again.

We stayed about four nights at this KOA Campground. We were very happy with most parts of it. Restrooms were clean and spacious and water spigots were high enough for tall people like us and hot water was not a problem. Office Personnel were very nice, helpful and congenial. The grounds for the most part were well taken care of and maintained. Our main issue was the lack of maintenance of vegetation and branches on the site we had to back into. Branches scratched up our RV and we were not able to park our vehicle in the space with our trailer due to the untrimmed branches on either side of the RV spot. Otherwise, the Campground was nice to walk through, pleasant on the eyes, and very close to Rocky Mountain National Park which was a priority for us.

Instantly at home — a spotless, welcoming base for Rocky Mountain trips-. What a friendly welcome at the Grand Lake / Rocky Mountain National Park KOA Journey. You feel at home right away. The sites are exceptionally clean and lovingly set up. A really good fire pit with its own seating, and a second terrace with everything you could want for RV camping. The staff are exceptionally friendly, no matter where you're from, and help you with a smile at any time. The perfect RV campground for extended Rocky Mountain trips. So don't hesitate — just go.
