Nestled in the small town of Goodland, Kansas, this unique roadside attraction features the world's largest reproduction of Vincent van Gogh's famous "Three Sunflowers in a Vase." Standing at a towering 80 feet tall, this massive easel and painting is part of a series of Van Gogh replicas around the world. The artwork was created by artist Cameron Cross as a tribute to Van Gogh and his iconic sunflower series, celebrating art and bringing culture to unexpected places. Visitors can admire this striking piece against the backdrop of the Kansas plains, making it a must-see landmark for travelers passing through.
This exhibit showcases a detailed replica of one of the earliest helicopter prototypes, offering a glimpse into the pioneering efforts of aviation history. Located in an aviation heritage museum, the display highlights the mechanical ingenuity of early helicopter designs, which paved the way for modern vertical flight. Visitors can observe the structure up close, including the intricate framework and rotor design, providing insight into the challenges and creativity of early flight engineers. Informational plaques accompany the exhibit, allowing guests to learn more about the historical significance and evolution of helicopter technology. The museum features history and artifacts from Sherman County residents. There are over 8,000 objects on display, including a replica of America's first patented helicopter built by William Purvis and Charles Wilson of Goodland. Two years after the Civil War ended, war came to Sherman County. Some time around July 2, 1867, 25-year-old Lt. Lyman S. Kidder and his 10-man patrol, along with a Sioux Indian scout, Red Bead, were massacred in northeastern Sherman County. Their deaths were the first recorded event in Sherman County.

Weather Forecast Office allows tours from Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Call ahead at 785-899-2360. If the would-be tour group is small, under five people, a time could be worked out on the day of the call, providing the weather is quiet. For more than five people, please call a week in advance especially if children will be included or you have a request to see special weather equipment, such as tornado machines and weather balloons.
If the weather turns severe, please call before coming to confirm that the weather forecasters are still able to host tours.
Tour group members will be able to ask questions of the meteorologists, learn how forecasts are made and see the office's large array of computers filled with weather data and images.
No admission fee is charged. Tour time is approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

This house was built for Mary Ennis, a business woman of the time. It was occupied until 1997, and is a historic Queen Anne style house that was built in 1907 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was listed on the National Register in 2006. It was deemed significant as an "outstanding" example of Queen Anne architecture and for association with local builder, Fred Hunt.

The Morin School house is a historical, restored one-room school house. Tours are given from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Monday through Saturday, 8am to 12:30pm and Sunday, 12pm to 3pm. Located at 1717 Cherry St. in Goodland. Donation admission is appreciated.

Mount Sunflower, although not a true mountain, is the highest natural point in the U.S. state of Kansas. At 4,039 feet (1,231 m), it is 3,300 feet (1,010 m) above the state's topographic low point, which lies on the opposite side of the state. Located in Wallace County, it is less than half a mile (0.8 km) from the state border with Colorado and is close to the lowest point in Colorado.
The sixth of 74 carousels manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC) between 1904 and 1933, the Kit Carson County Carousel is a three-row, stationary (the animals do not move up and down) machine housed in a 12-sided frame building. It is the only antique carousel in America still having original paint on both the scenery panels and on the animals, and PTC#6 is the only surviving menagerie (having other animals in addition to horses) carousel made by PTC. And it's fully operational! Open daily 11am - 6pm, Memorial Day - Labor Day. Take I-70 Exit 437. Go NORTH past all of the fast food restaurants to the stoplight. Continue north, cross the railroad tracks and then take an immediate right (East) on a gravel road past Joe's Garage. Continue east past the baseball field and the Fairgrounds will be on your left. Turn into the Fairgrounds.

The Arikaree Breaks are a rugged landscape of canyons that have formed in a type of windblown silt called loess. In general, this loess was deposited by the wind during the past few million years. Loess is often rich in clay minerals, which allows these deposits to hold together and form a steep face.

Sherman County Speedway is an IMCA Sanctioned 3/8 mile, semi-banked, oval dirt track located on the North side of Goodland, KS at the Sherman County Fairgrounds.

Steever Water Park offers swimming from Memorial Day until late August. Kids will enjoy the two large water slides, as well as a smaller slide for toddlers. There is also a baby pool. Lap swimming and water aerobics are also available. Open Monday-Sunday, 1pm-7pm.

A memorial to the Cheyenne Indians who survived the Sand Creek massacre, as well as to the last known male buffalo shot in the area. This location is deemed by some historians to be where the ongoing battles between the plains natives and white settlers following the civil war began. This site contains metal sculptures made by a local artist and is open year-round.
Directions: Drive West of St. Francis & turn North on Kansas Highway 27. The site is located approximately 1 mile on West side of Highway.
The Cherry Creek Encampment site can be found along the Land and Sky Scenic Byway. This byway is the only byway that focuses on agriculture and features thousands of acres of rotating crops, livestock, and wildlife along the route, but that's not all. Travelers also have the opportunity to experience the Wallace Branch of the Great Western Cattle Trail, scale the highest point in Kansas at Mount Sunflower, marvel at the world's largest Van Gogh and explore the deep canyons and rugged landscape of the Arikaree Breaks. The St. Francis Motorcycle Museum is located at 110 East Washington in beautiful downtown St. Francis, Kansas. The 10,000 square foot museum houses more than 135 vintage motorcycles from various manufacturers. The big names in early motorcycles, Indian and Harley Davidson, are highly represented, but so are motorcycles from lesser known manufacturers, such as Flanders, Excelsior, Cleveland, Pope, Iver Johnson, Feilbach Limited, Ace, Henderson, Marsh-Metz and many others.
