Campground Reviews

It's dusty when it is dry but that is to be expected. BUT the place is beautiful and very accommodating. I watched it go from almost completely deserted to FULL UP and was surprised at how wonderfully quiet it was. There were so many families coming in to celebrate Mother's Day weekend and I was even accommodated when I wanted to be moved away from the waterfront and credited too. GREAT PLACE!

Positive: Late registration setup was great. Staff was very friendly the next morning. Decent one night stopover, cheaper than hotels. Negative: Site numbers were hard to find. Campground just kind of yucky. Not enough bathrooms. need one closer in the tent areas, got to see my tent neighbor pee in the trees. Would not recommend for a camping trip, only as a stop if there was nothing else around.

Loved my stay!

The site is easy to get to, and the scenery was beautiful. I told them they need either paved roads or gravel. The dirt roads kick up huge clouds of dirt each time a car or RV drives by. Our coach and car were filthy after just one night. The check in staff are very helpful. I feel it was not really meant for the large coaches due to the narrow roads and tight turns.

Our site was beautiful however a bit uneven. Site 34 could use some leveling around the water/ fire pit, it’s a little dangerous at night. Other than that it was perfect and we had a great time. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. The kids loved the activities that were planned.

Maybe this was an unusually dry time, but the dust seemed to be constant at our site #77. Also, quiet hours didn’t seem to exist where we were. The first night a large dog was barking loudly at 12:50am for a long time and then people became loud for quite a while after that. This wasn’t the relaxing weekend that we had anticipated.

The entrance road and streets in campground were full of potholes and very very dusty conditions. The WiFi/internet was the worst I have come across. KOA needs to have an investment plan to improve this campgrounds for improvements before they add on.

Please place sand & gravel on the roads, fill in the pot holes. Very dusty.

Loved the lake and full hookup but the road dust was horrible-have never seen such dust clouds everywhere when any vehicles small or large, fast or slow drive thru the park. Left a thick coating on every part of our car and camper, including slider tracks, which impeded the function of our slider. Suggest you invest in washed crushed gravel, pavement or at least a watering truck for a 10 rating.

Location is ideal but the rough road and dust is horrible. The gravel road dust could be improved with use of water truck or tractor with water sprayer. It was terrible.

Excellent relaxing stay, very clean park with great upkeep. Helpful and friendly staff. Great job everyone.

The inflatables were not going due to no staff. We had people who were extremely loud and I had to go over my self at 1am and tell them to keep it down. The next nigh at 11:30 pm they were once again very loud. So the 10pm quite hour was NOT being enforced. Other than that wish they had a few more things for the kids.

My son's bike was taken by a kid and the staff was wonderful in helping get it back. In the end we found the bike. They were all great!!

Someone needs a lesson in buying gravel. Only purchase washed gravel because it has NO dirt in it, thus no dusty roads. Once they get that correct the site would be good.

Wonderful place to stay. Very clean, lots of amenities & super friendly staff.

$80+/night for rustic cabin seemed a little high since we rented 1st week of May when water activities haven't started due to weather of course. Showers were just okay and bathrooms kept clean. Staff was very friendly. Hershey ice cream great.

Very clean and felt pretty secluded even though it's not too far from the hustle and bustle

great stay for early season, everyone was nice and very helpful
May 09, 2023
Roads were dusty & potholes. Tight for larger rigs. Bathrooms were poorly kept.

Staff was amazing and helpful. We realize that weather is beyond anyone's control - however, paving your roads and campsites IS! The gross potholes & unevenness of both the roads & sites put our motorhomes & vehicles at risk. Though this KOA may save paving for 'on season', many campers such as our family (3 pull thru sites booked) explore off season for many reasons. Invest in your roads!!!

Very muddy and rough with a lot of pot holes filled with water. Once the rain stopped the roads were very dusty and rough.

Employees weren't real helpful. I asked if they could refill my propane tank and was told I had to take tank myself that they don't transport the tank for me. This the 1st KOA that wouldn't pick up and deliver my propane tank.

The staff was great! And since a few of the activities weren’t operating (miniature golf and bounce pad) it was nice they had some activities to do for all the kids. Our camping spot was by the entrance and SO much dust from people coming in and out was not enjoyable, especially for our 5 month old :-/ There was also geese poop everywhere we had to pick up when we got to our site.
May 08, 2023
It was very very dusty due to the old limestone that you used on your roads. Also Lots and lots of potholes. The people were nice and the cabin was good.

Beautiful lakeside location away from freeway & railroad noise but convenient for freeway to Dearborn & Detroit.
May 07, 2023
Pot holes all over the place. This place needs attention before somebody will damage something.
May 05, 2023
nice location and WIFI was reliable

Park is nice. But, the roads are not in very good condition. Its early spring weather so we understand. The roads are like a continuous speed bump.
May 04, 2023
The Koa had plenty of amenities for the summer months. Could have filled the holes in the roads, although, it was something that was being worked on.
May 03, 2023
The campground has great potential, but the roads are a disgrace. The roads are full of potholes and very large puddles, mud everywhere. I would never go back until they put some new gravel on the roads and site pads.

Bobbie was so very helpful. She was the only person that helped us. Maintenance was lazy during the winter.
May 03, 2023
They need to remove all the stumps that are blocking the road. It's pretty bad. People with large rigs and can't take the main loop without correcting several times to avoid the stumps. Secondly Please pave or add gravel near the dump station. It's really bad when it rains. There was 8 inches of water and we had to get a soaker to get out of our tow vehicle to connect up to the dump station.

Driveway and entry into the park was horrible. Not maintained at all. It was like driving on the moon. Camp sites were very small and muddy. And not maintained. Campground bathhouse was very clean.

Nice facilities and staff was friendly and helpful
May 02, 2023
Check-in was less than enthusiastic, but we appreciated the amenities at the campground. Our campsite was narrow, and filled with large puddles given the quantity of rain during our stay, but other sites beside us seemed to have been graded higher and didn't have the same issues. Roadways were potholed extensively, again likely due to the amount of rain.

Overall the campground is very nice. The people are friendly and the facilities are generally in good shape. However it would not be an accurate review without mentioning the terrible condition of the roads. They are by far worse than any campground I have ever stayed at and are in need of immediate attention. No need to pave them but they do need to be regroomed and more gravel is needed.

Very nice campground. Very nice people.

Not well maintained

Have a 43’ class A and was put in a 45’ site when there were numerous 24’ or smaller pull behinds had 65’ or longer sites. The campground had many potholes that could swallow a small child and of course it rained. If the potholes didn’t get you the mud did. Staff was not helpful when I questioned my assigned site.

Safe place to stay while fishing in the Detroit River. I believe we were overcharged, though, based on a likely discrepancy in their computer system of the type of site we were on so not the value I had expected.

Wide lots. Laundry facilities good. Staff friendly. Poor wifi even though campground not crowded. Dirt roads with potholes, especially at entrance. Mud area outside trailer door which we had to go through to get in/out of trailer. Would recommend gravel in these areas!

Clean, very nice water, great depth not too shallow. The bathroom is clean and nice, the campsites have a lot of shade and are beautiful. We were so happy to go for the day today and will be back often for more stays.

This was the third year we stayed at this KOA and it just keeps getting better each time. It's conveniently located close to home so non-camper family and friends can visit for the day but go home at night without sleeping in a tent. This was perfect for our group because during the summer there's so much going on that inevitably one spouse has to attend something while the other wants to camp, or a friend wants to attend day activities but are not sure about camping. The KOA keeps improving the experience by providing more services for the same price. We were pleasantly surprised this year by the activities offered and led by the KOA staff. Chalk painting, dance party, karaoke, balloon surprise, golf competition with prizes, are a few that come to mind. They were free or for a nominal fee, but having activities for the kids was invaluable to prevent hearing “I'm bored”. That's in addition to having a very nice lake to swim and play - with lifeguard- plus the obstacle course, putt putt, jumping pillow, kayaks, paddle boats, store on the premises with cold ice cream and all the other essentials. I can't think of a reason to go anywhere else. This place is fantastic! The current leadership makes the difference by being the critical difference to make it great! Thank you Sean, Chris, Sarah and Bella for another great camping experience:). We can't wait to see you again!
