When looking at the weather forecast for the Black Hills, take it with a grain of salt as it will give a general idea of the temperature, but it can change on a dime. Rain forecasting follows the same theory. It so hard to predict the weather here due to the elevation. The stark difference between the plains, prairies and the hills causes a drastic shift as the weather systems hit the area.
We recommend checking two or three different weather apps or sites and taking the average of them. Sometimes they are spot on, but most of the time they are a little off target. The end result is that regardless of rain, shine, snow, or wind be weather aware and bring a couple seasons of clothing.
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
