We enjoyed 3 nights. Just left July 2,2020. Clean and beautiful. Friendly staff. Great dog play area, great kid areas.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks! Save travels back to Tennessee.

We love the dog park. Everything was very clean and the employees worked hard to clean everything

The Site was immaculate, the facilities were immaculate including the showers and bathrooms. Great Place to RV with kids and easy access to a multitude of things to do & see in Teller County. The Host's Derrick and Terry were most gracious and very helpful with our every need. As this is only 2.5 hours from home we will be back to escape the Metro area many times to come.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

See you soon!

Very nice stay. WiFi could be better.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks... WiFi infrastructure improvements have been contracted, so should be improved inside the campground within a month! :)

Good people, friendly staff and a good location. Sites are a little tight and no trees but overall a good KOA.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

No trees = AWESOME view of the sunset across the valley! :) Our primitive tent sites are mostly in the trees at the top of the hill. Thanks!

Great place to stay. Our campsite was great. Nice patio & grill to use. The store was super clean and staff was friendly. Loved hearing and seeing the hummingbirds every day!

This campsite was beautiful!! Everything was clean and kept up. The owner went above and beyond helping us with our trailer issues. All of the staff was great except for one blonde lady who was rude and seemed annoyed at anything I asked. Only downside to the campsite was the road was gravel and slippery, so riding bikes was not safe for my kiddos :(
Jun 29, 2020
The campground was located in an really beautiful location. There were also pretty of great hiking trails near by and several kid activities nearby. The staff were really helpful and friendly

What a lovely, clean and relaxing campground! Terri and Derek were so accommodating and gave us great advice about "what not to miss" in Cripple Creek. Protocols were clearly in place for the state the world is in right now, and we were really able to be confident with the cleanliness and safety of the campground for ourselves and our three granddaughters. They absolutely loved the play train!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for choosing to get away with your grandchildren to our little mountain escape! I appreciate the feedback on our COVID protocols and very pleased that you felt safe onsite. Most importantly, glad you enjoyed your vacay and got to take in some of the amazing local history! I personally don'

Very pleasant. Helpful staff. Good home base for seeing the sights in the area (Pike's Peak, Cliff Dwellings, Royal Gorge and others. Being older, the thin air was noticed, but you just need to slow down. Some beautiful sunsets.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed yourselves and VERY glad you took advantage of all there is to see nearby! Great point on the altitude; one should not take it for granted. Drink a lot of water, take it slow and easy for a few days, and if at all possible, camp and increasingly higher elevations on your way up.

This campground is in a gorgeous location in the mountains behind pikes peak. My 38’ RV made it up the windy roads and it was well worth it. Highly recommend!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed it!

Out of the way place, but absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed several day trips from this location. Unfortunately Covid prevented several excursions

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the kind words! Fortunately, outdoors is the best place you can be to avoid COVID, so at least we had that. Thankfully, area attractions have been opening up as well.

Staff was great, checking in and out was a breeze. Very enjoyable place to stay!

Wish the app had easier access to extending stays.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Not sure about the capabilities of KOA app, but we are always happy to extend your stay. Just call, email, or step into the office!

This was a really nice park. Great dog run too. The office folks were very nice and helpful. The actual spots were a bit small but it works, and has nice views

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for the review! Most of our sites are 60'+/- long and 30'+/- wide. We are looking at options for adding some modern big-rig sites, but in the mean-time, we've had 45' fifth wheels in and out with no problems.

It was nice, was missing a place to fish. My suggestion is there is a lake across from the KOA maybe you can get a hold of the owners and Work out some type of deal that the people from KOA only can fish there. Just a suggestion. Other than that our stay was awesome.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks! Unfortunately, in these litigious times, allowing anonymous guests on private property is a challenge for most folks. Skaguay reservoir is about 30 min from our campground, and trout fishing is excellent!
Jun 22, 2020
Had a hard time getting leveled. Don't know if it was our site or what... Beautiful campground and very friendly staff. Wish internet connection was better but you are in the mountains!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for the feedback! I'll check the parking pad on site 156 and see if I can fix it. Come on back soon!
Jun 22, 2020
Staff was great! Bathrooms and the areas were Clean felt safe. Could use some trails for walking paths would be the only think I can say.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback. We will consider how we could do some walking trails, although somewhat of a challenge given our limited space on the campground. We do have BLM land out our back gate and a (sorta) marked trail to the top of Trachyte Knob.
Jun 22, 2020
Lovely, clean and friendly. Beautiful views and great amenities. Bummed that there wasn’t enough propane fire pits for everyone who wanted one. If we’d known they were popular we would have booked one knowing that there was a fire ban. That was the only disappointment.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed your stay! Since they are proving so popular this season, we have ordered a couple additional fire bowls to rent.
Jun 22, 2020
LOVED this place.....great for getting away and relaxing. WIFI is spotty so prob not a good choice for 'working vacations' - no AT&T svc either (I had not read these warnings prior to my trip). I ran into Cripple Creek (not far) once to make phone calls over the weekend. I will definitely be back! The owners Terri & Deric are fantastic!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Agreed, not the best locale for high-tech needs; although, we do mention those constraints on our website (campground info section). We do not influence where AT&T sets up their towers (Verizon has great service here) and WiFi is an ongoing improvement effort (it IS better every season). Glad you en

The stay was nice, weather was decent.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Great! You have to be ready for any kind of weather way up here at 10,000 ft. We had a summer snowstorm just a couple of weeks ago.
Jun 22, 2020
I highly recommend the hiking trail locates at the KOA!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Pretty awesome 360 view from the top of Trachyte Knob, isn't it? Although not a developed trail, it is a nice walk through the BLM land out of our back gate. Thanks for the nod!
Jun 21, 2020
Great the staff was ver nice we will go back.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Happy to see someone from one of our previous stomping grounds of El Paso. See you next time around!
Jun 21, 2020
Very nice scenery and very nice people. Unfortunately, we had a day of rain, hail, etc. however, I would certainly stay there again.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the kind words. Sorry that it rained on your camping trip, but fortunately, it doesn't hang around for long. Hope you can come back soon for some sun!
Jun 21, 2020
Staff was helpful and polite. Facilities were well maintained. The location is built into a hillside thus it required some leveling of my trailer, I didn't feel it was a problem at all. Plenty of places to visit including Cripple creek casinos and interesting mining history. Had a fun 3 days there even with many of the state Covid restrictions/closures still in place. Will absolutely return here!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you! Always happy when someone discovers and can appreciate the amazing local history, as well as the other area activities. Thankful that things are opening up for all our enjoyment during the summer.
Jun 21, 2020
Very poor WiFi and no AT&T service (total dead zone) so don't plan on calling anyone. Other than that it's a very clean KOA with beautiful views and pet friendly.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Yep, and yep, just as we state on our website. WiFi is as good as we can get, and we have no control over where AT&T cell service is available. Very frustrating when folks rate our campground on items we have NO control over. You are always welcome to use our office phone to make calls. Glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise!
Jun 20, 2020
Super helpful staff, clean, level, spacious sites. Absolutely beautiful setting.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Gonna be getting hot in Pueblo soon, so hope you come on back to escape it!
Jun 20, 2020
Great stay very clean and well kept.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed it! We all work hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, but I hope you got to take in some of the scenery too!

Very nice park. Some guy who called himself the Enforcer was very helpful!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Awesome! I'll pass that on to Randy (the Enforcer). :)

Only issue..... the people renting a cabin left several dogs outside alone, and they barked for hours. Other then that issue this KOA is great. The owners are fantastic people!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for the review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay! Fortunately, we were able to track down the dog owners; the dogs were not outside barking the next day.

Nice place and the only thing missing is trees in each spot but I am sure its due to the elevation since this KOA is the highest in elevation in the USA. The COVID-19 restrictions sucked but that is not KOA's fault. We did get great photos and spent three nights there.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for staying with us! Our tent sites are forested. As you observed, our RV/cabin sites are not forested. The benefit of this is that you have an unobstructed view all around. Sunsets across the valley are spectacular.
Jun 15, 2020
The campground was nice, the only drawback was that there are no trees in the main rv spots thus no shade. Everyone was nice and the grounds were clean. We didn’t use the facilities because of the COVID-19 which wasn’t a problem because our rig is self-contained.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed it! We sometimes wish for more trees in the RV section, but the drawback then would be a major sacrifice in the view across the valley (that SUNSET!). Fortunately, temps in the upper 70's is a heatwave up here, so you don't really need shade to avoid the heat. We definitely need to

WiFi was iffy, at best, but we understand the problem.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for understanding our WiFi challenges! I am continuously working on improving service overall, but our provider options in our remote location are extremely limited. We have the best we can get! Glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise!

It’s 50-60 degrees in July. Birds make the most noise here. So quiet it makes your ears ring! WiFi is tentative but it’s enough for us to work - on weedsys. Our phones don’t work (AT&T). They are SUPER Covid careful. So much to do that we extended our vacation another week.
