Campground Reviews

I’ve stayed at several KOAs in my truck camper, but this trip I was on my motorcycle and tent camping. It seems the tent spots in most KOAs are out in the open like you’re camping in a parking lot, but unlike that, the non-powered tent spots at Cripple Creek are in the tree line among the aspens and pines. Very nice! The $5 pancake breakfast on the weekends was also a bonus.

Ruby was so helpful and had great tips for sight seeing in the area. The pizza kitchen was such a blessing. All the facilities, from the tent pads to the bathrooms to camp kitchen, were spotless. I cannot speak highly enough about my experience at this KOA. Every element of my stay exceeded my expectations!

The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Everything was clean and had everything we needed. We felt very comfortable and lots of space to walk our dogs. We went to recommended eating places close by and were very pleased. Best KOA we’ve stayed at. Thank you.

Great stay. Loved the pizza! Maybe a barbecue option with hamburgers and dogs? One suggestion - office and breakfast should begin earlier.

The staff here are the friendliest people. I would stay again just for that. It’s not a very busy place, it’s a quiet, pretty area. I wish there was more to do here but it was ok. The only issue we had was the cabin we stayed in had a sharp roof corner that caught and cut my head while walking around the corner.-easy to fix. Other than this, great stay.

Beautiful, welcoming, family oriented campground. The owners and staff obviously love what they do. The campground is clean, quiet and absolutely beautiful. We had a tent mishap and they were happy to let us upgrade to a cabin. Altitude was an issue for me and the staff gave me many helpful suggestions. We’ve been telling other campers that they should visit this KOA. Thank you!

We’ve stayed at this location—a favorite—for nearly 20 years, sometimes two or three times in a season, with our kids and now as a senior couple. Every visit is wonderful, but in recent years it’s become even better. We visit almost annually, and the staff know us. They treat us like royalty, and we feel like it. The Couples Cabin has become for us a home away from home.

We only stayed 2 nights as part of a longer trip but well worth the stop. Both Victor and Cripple Creek are interesting small towns and Rita the Troll is a must see. The people at the KOA were very friendly and gave good recommendations.

I exclusively stay at KOA's all summer short stays all around Colorado, on cross country road trips etc. The KOA at Cripple Creek is special. It's pristine, they take a lot of pride in it and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate when my child got hurt on a hike. The breakfast pizza and pancake breakfast Saturday and Sunday were a welcomed respite from cooking. The views are stunning.

My family and I had a wonderful time in cabin 5. We have a two and a half year old little boy, and we were treated like royalty while we were there. Thank you so much for the wonderful time and memories. PS ruby made the trip especially wonderful

Derick, Terri, Ruby, Lizzie and all the staff were wonderful. 2nd year to come and stay. Always clean and helpful for anything you need. Best KOA in the USA. And the highest elevation.

The host was amazing and all the staff was very friendly, the campground was very clean and extremely well kept, the services they provided were excellent as well. (My son especially liked the fact they he could have pizza delivered to the campsite). We absolutely would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants a place away from the town where the scenery is beautiful and quiet in mtns.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful!

We always love camping at Cripple Creek KOA. The location is amazing. The only thing that would make it better is if the top sites were more level off the pad.. It is easy to loose your footing coming out of the trailer.

The staff are incredible. The place is clean and has a cute playground and dog park. Free coffee in the morning and a little shop selling all the essentials you may have forgotten.

It was a great stay like it always is. Thank you so much for putting us in a lower site. It is much easier for us to manage the lower sites as the slope up the hill is a little harder for us to manage.

Beautiful location, very well kept. The owners are on site and very involved so your stay is drama free. No t.v. radio signal as it is between mountains. Best KOA thus far.

We've been to this KOA once before, as tent campers. Memorial Day weekend 2026 was the first time in a cabin. It was wonderful!! The cost is so reasonable. It is a short walk to the bathrooms (but not so close that you hear everyone else going to the bathroom). The staff is super helpful and friendly. The kids and I had another amazing time!!

The world's highest KOA was central to Teller county hotspots like Victor and Cripple Creek. Great service and amenities, plenty to keep kids busy! We used one of the 50 amp RV sites which were full hookup. Our Solitude 5th Wheel is pushing 40' and the spaces are tight but doable. Plenty of 5th wheels and diesel pushers on site while we were there. Would stay again!
