Great stay. Great amenities! Love that the showers are separate from the actual restrooms. And everything is super clean. Only thing we didn’t like is how close together the campsites are. Our neighbors were up late hanging out. Because we’re so close together it’s loud.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us in a Deluxe Tent site, Virginia! We try to enforce quiet hours after 10pm but are not able to patrol the park all night. We provide an after-hours phone number and encourage our guests to use it and give us the chance to address problems when they occur.

In my opinion it’s a little cramped. Not a lot of room between trailer sites in some places. The roads are narrow and trying to navigate a large trailer around parked vehicles was a little tricky. Over all it was a good stay. We just felt cramped.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I respect your opinion, Trynton! Our site was built in the early 90s on the side of a hill, so in-and-out can be a bit tight. Sites are all about 30x60 and the advantage of the hillside location is that amazing sunset view across the valley! Glad you had a good stay regardless!

Pretty neat, secluded tent sites. Rude staff except for the kind man who checked me in. Guests do not respect quiet hours. A steep price for what you get - no water, electricity, and a far walk to the only shower/bathroom. Definitely do not come here if you are not white. I did not feel safe at all.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I am sorry you did not feel safe here, Michelle! Our site is very safe, and we have several women of varied ethnic backgrounds who camp here alone regularly. We have many families from all nationalities who love it here too. Frustrated I can't hear your story; I've tried repeatedly to contact you.

very nice, clean. well taken care of. riding up 43 ft towing motorhome 10,000 ft pretty cool. we got in space just find #166, no room for jeep but parked near us. went sightseeing and gambling in cripple creek. very nice staff. order pizza, not bad pizza. frozen crust, but overall ingredients were fresh. use campfire, firepits looked new. didn't used the bathhouse. great 2-night stay.

It was a pleasure meeting you, Martha. Stop on by again the next time you venture up the hill from Iowa!

Super clean, friendly and very well maintained. We have been coming to this KOA for well over 20 years and it keeps getting better each time . The owners now really have made nice improvements.

Thanks, Mark! We appreciate you making the trek up from Texas each year!

Amazing , the staff was the best, and the entire place was so very well kept. We will be back.
Aug 26, 2022
Our site was on such a steep slope, we had to keep our chairs right next to the RV to keep from sitting on really steep ground. We had to take our car off the dolly at the office because the turns were too tight for RV, dolly and car. The views were spectacular!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for the review, Denny. We are built on the side of a mountain and our terraced RV sites facilitate the spectacular views for all. I am perplexed though; many sites are sloped but yours (site 160) has a ~10x20' LEVEL gravel pad around your fire pit. I'm curious why you chose not to use it?

Nice campground, clean, we did not visit the restrooms or laundry rooms so I can’t comment on them. But the spaces were roomy, and easy to get in and out.

It was great, especially with the site selling breakfast, my cabin was just rite but I would suggest a bigger heater, The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I enjoyed the hummingbird feeder’s very relaxing to watch.

As always the staff and accommodation were what we always expect and get.it's one of the best campgrounds we visit several times a year

The best camp my wife and I and the grandkids have ever stayed at. Everyone was polite and professional . Amenities and views are second to none we will be back.
Aug 23, 2022
We had the couple's cabin, it was very comfortable and well decorated. A very nice way to just get away from home, and bring very little. The staff was very helpful too.
Aug 22, 2022
Great little campground. Not very many extra amenities, although the pizza was a nice touch. The sites don't seem to have sewer hookups, which wasn't a big deal for us. The cabins and public kitchen cooking area was a great idea. Great service and friendly staff.
Aug 22, 2022
Good views. Very rigid rules and locked bath houses were awkward. Since they are so far away from civilization, more food and drink options would be nice.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry you weren't able to check in early, Ruth, however we do message that constraint to you in multiple documents and with a direct phone call before your arrival. You showed up 3 hrs early anyway, so you were disappointed. We do follow our documented policies for the benefit of all our guests.

A little to much rain but better wet than dry .overall koa is really nice and pleasant and friendly . Overall I have stayed there probably about 6 times and never had any problems. Thanks . I be coming back . LJW.

I have stayed at several KOAs but I believe you have the best showers! Enough room, good water pressure, clean, and no nasty smells. The only downside was parking for my motorcycle. Other cabins had relatively flat parking but cabin 4 was pretty steep for a bike and with the rain, the ground was soft enough to be a concern. During my reservation, I did note I was on a motorcycle.

I love this campground and the people are very nice. The one issue I had was under no circumstances are you allowed to arrive early. We noticed that there were a lot of spots empty during our visit. A whole row as a matter of fact. We were an hour early and had to drive down to the Heritage Center to park. We wanted to just park and not hook up to services. Just so we could go get lunch in CC.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks, Mark! There are implications other than site availability that have necessitated our no early arrival policy. We message that very broadly, yet folks still show up 1, 2, even 3 hours early. Check in time is no earlier than 2. There is plenty of large-space parking in Cripple Creek.

Enjoyed your place. But wish your WiFi covered all of tent sites (we in t3). Also wish tent area had two prepared sites, because it rained both days for us, and prepared site would have been more comfortable.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry we didn't meet all your desires, but... it's camping! :)

The camp WiFi was slow but dependable...much better than some campgrounds we've been to. Our AT&T hotspot did not work well here. We ended up using the camp WiFi instead. The store and laundry were top-notch and clean. (We never used the bathrooms or showers). The employees were very friendly. This was a nice quiet RV park. The sites were close but adequate. Would stay here again.

The only thing I didn't like was how steep my site was. I could not get to my picnic table without going down an incline. I was parked to the left like I was told but then I had very little room ro get to the sewer hook up in my rig. I would definitely come back but would not want site 161 again. The scenery is great. Liked having pizza delivery.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks, Robert. 161 is a bit of a challenge with a larger rig. Hoping to build a deck and make it a patio site this winter. :)

Our new favorite! So green and peaceful, and close to home but just far enough away! The pet friendly cabin was top notch - we didn’t know it also had a fenced little yard off the back door, an excellent feature for our doggie to enjoy. Beautiful views and close to great hikes. We will be back!

I wish I could rate it 4.5 stars mainly because its a KOA and essentially a RV parking lot but there is so much great here I rated it 5 stars. First as you seen in many places around the location they are the highest KOA in the US at around 10,000 ft. This might bring some challenges of getting trees and other vegetation to grow so the sites are kinda barren some light grass between sites. The KOA is on a hill so generally you can enjoy some great views no matter where you are parked. We had a site with power and water but no sewer. Full hookups in a nice to have but no required. We did do a quick dump on the way out at their dump station. The people were incredible friendly and nice. The main building had a well equipped store with clean bathrooms and a hummingbird feeder which was quite busy and fun to watch. They even have a pizza place where you order and they deliver it to your camper. Nice touch. They have some outdoor rec stuff like playgrounds, volleyball court, etc but no pool. That might be hard at 10,000 ft where it does not get really warm. The wifi was a bit slow but it was a very busy weekend. Most sites seemed pretty level but I got one that needed 5 sets of blocks to level. Luckily I had enough. Most of the neighbors were polite and fairly quiet. Just had one nearby rig that sounded like they were running their A/C all night. As KOAs go this one was nice and I would recommend it to others.

People here are amazing. But be cautious it is 10000 foot elevation. Altitude sickness can be a real thing. Other wise it is beautiful!

This is a great park! It is very well staffed and cared for. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the sites are close together with little roads and built on a slope. Inexperienced drivers would likely have a hard time. Tow vehicles need to be parked up top as there isn't enough room to park with your rig. The park is at 10,000 ft elevation so be prepared for some amazing views and thin air!
