Campground Reviews

Very pretty campground!!! The staff here are top notch. We stayed for a week and would definitely do it again. The facilities are spotless and the scenery is just beautiful. They give KOA a great name!

Nice, clean campground. Quiet and close to attractions.

I like the location. It is quiet and away from any traffic. It is well situated between Victor and Cripple Creek, within 10 minutes in either direction. Great place to stay for the weekend or during the week.

Fantastic site! So pretty and the people who run it are AMAZING! We will be back!

Thank you, Ricki!

Nice clean campground. Staff super friendly.

no cable, no swimming pool but we really liked staying here. After all, the altitude is 10,000 plus feet high! We don't gamble but lots of others did. We found lots of fun things to do and see! but that is close for thoses that do. We did lots of other fun things in the area.

The bug situation is out of control. We couldn’t enjoy our time because we were constantly fighting off bugs, especially mosquitoes. We got several bites. Not really a fun time.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Are there no bugs outdoors in California, Jim? There are more mosquitos here this year due to the wet summer we've had, but you are tent camping. Welcome to the great outdoors!

It was a beautiful campground . Very welcoming and clean

Very very good! The staff was so friendly and helpful! Definitely recommend it for anyone! Thanks again!

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean and well kept facilities. Outstanding location.

This KOA is great for a place to stay that is close to Cripple Creek and Victor. My site however was very unlevel and narrow. My stairs had over a foot drop down the camp side of the site causing us to almost fall the less than 10 feet into the next site multiple times. This KOA while claiming to be a holiday, has less amenities than most journeys that I have stayed at.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Site 122 is our narrowest site but you would have to be parked on the grass to be stepping down 10 ft from your neighbor. Parking pad is level and 12-15 ft wide but since we're on a hill we suggest you park to he left to avoid exactly the issue you're speaking of. KOA determines branding.

Well...the pizza was a downer...I ordered it at 2:30pm for 6pm. At 6:15...I went to see why it wasn't delivered yet...the kid making pizzas was sorry but he was busy and didn't even make it yet. He cannot tell time and he was making 1 order...begin to end... before starting the next...

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you didn't let that ruin your entire stay, Dan. Odd that's all you care to mention. The kid got very busy, the kid lost time, the kid apologized to you, you yelled and insulted him rather than handling it productively. We have one oven and we ALL prepare one pizza at a time, just like the kid!

The staff was very friendly. We have everything we needed. Our dogs loved the dog park and we loved the playgrounds.

Awesome!

Love the location. Loved the owners and employees. Best people ever! Everything was so clean. Only 1 suggestion. Maybe only close bathroom for 1 hr. Instead of 2 for cleaning. 2 hrs is a long time for those without their own potties.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Hi Mark, thanks for the review! That's a valid concern, and we are sensitive to that fact. We do our best to open bathrooms as quickly as possible and it is a rare occasion that they are closed for anywhere close to 2 hours. Looking for options for a second facility, though!

Everyone was very nice and the campground was clean. My only complaint would be that the rv sites are on a slant. It made leveling the trailer challenging as well as just sitting outside in our chairs

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed your stay, Lori! Since we're on the side of a hill, most of the yard areas are sloped, however parking pads are level. We advise that you park as far left as you can so you are completely on the level parking pad. Hope we can help you get better situated on your site next time!

We had a lovely time! The scenery was spectacular and loved being about to "walk in the woods" at the campground. The staff was fabulous! Lissa actually remembered who I was the next day that I saw her and on our way out Ruby flagged us down to talk Travato stuff. She was wonderful. All the other campers quieted down at night which was great - no generators running. And Kamp K9 was the best!!!

Very clean, very friendly and I really appreciate having the reservation! I am used to non rv places though so I prefer more dispersed areas with trees and tents not so close together. But I would come back on a busy weekend if I can’t find other places. Also, I appreciate the firewood, the coffee and the dumpster. My friend liked the pizza delivery!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Hi Tracy. Glad you had a good time in a deluxe tent site. I invite you to come back and camp in one of our primitive sites up in the woods. They are pretty remote and with the trees, give you the privacy you would prefer.

We spent 6 nights on one of the tent sights with electric and water. This is my favorite KOA we've stayed at. It's clean, the staff are AMAZING, and views are beautiful. We will most definitely be staying here again.

Beautiful place. Our second time here and we’ll be back!
Jul 11, 2024
We stayed for 4 nights and cannot say enough good things about this campground! Amazing staff, great location and so clean and beautiful! Thr showers were so nice and Cindy and the other staff were friendly and helpful. We had a trailer space and the upgraded cabin for my parents. It was so perfect! Nice playgrounds and great laundry facility.

Highly recommend! Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Beautiful area, park was very clean, staff very friendly, enjoyed the stay, thank you!!
Jul 10, 2024
It was over the 4th of July weekend and the camp hosts had a cookout for all of the campers. It felt like a neighborhood getting together for the holiday. It was nice. The campsite was clean, as were the bathrooms and showers. Can’t wait to come back!
Jul 09, 2024
Loved our stay here over July 4th weekend. The staff were wonderful and gave us great recommendations for nearby attractions. The restrooms, showers and laundry rooms were all very clean. The best part of our stay was how quiet the campground was which made our stay a great mountain experience.

It was fun. Friendly stuff and clean bathrooms

The Cripple Creek KOA never disappoints! I am always impressed with the friendly staff, clean facilities, variety of amenities and the beautiful surroundings at the Cripple Creek KOA. This is the perfect getaway for me.

We love this campground! We have stayed here multiple times and will continue to go back. The staff is friendly and helpful, the bathrooms and facilities are always clean, and the cabins are fantastic. Our kids love all the fun things they have to do onsite. One thing we wish we saw more of was recycling options instead of trash only.

One of the best KOA’s we’ve stayed at. Friendly staff, well kept grounds and the Hunt Brothers pizza and wings is a nice addition. Also the pancake breakfast on the weekends is very good. We’ve already booked our stay for next year.
Jul 08, 2024
Nice campground, great staff!
Jul 08, 2024
Everything was pretty good I just wish my campsite had electricity. Staff and amenities were great
Jul 08, 2024
Nice campground with all the amenities. The camper's kitchen where you can grill and wash dishes was very helpful. Close to several very nice places to hike.
Jul 08, 2024
We had a great stay at the deluxe cabin! Only complaint was that the bathroom faucet was malfunctioning and there was little hot water. We brought an EV and were not allowed to plug in after asking but they are currently working on installing EV chargers. Was not a problem for us to charge elsewhere but it would have been nice if they let me at least plug in for a trickle charge overnight.

One of my favorite KOAs in Colorado. Very clean, good views, and friendly staff.
Jul 08, 2024
Great location. Can be cool at night, but that makes coming up in the summer that much more enjoyable. Tent sites are isolated in the trees which give privacy and great views

Absolutely awesome people working at the KOA
Jul 08, 2024
Our main issue with the KOA was having the bathrooms and showers out of commission for 2 hours every day for cleaning. I understand that they need time to clean them but it was kind of inconvenient to have to plan around that time frame and hope that you didn’t need to use the facilities during said time period.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Bathrooms are rarely, if ever, closed for more than an hour, although we do message a 2 hr window in case an issue arises. I apologize for the inconvenience but I am certain our guests appreciate our spotless facilities!
Jul 07, 2024
Very pleasant stay. Clean, quiet. Hosts very pleasant.
Jul 07, 2024
The campgrounds are great, the people are great, super clean, there are two things that kept me from giving a higher rating. 1) Unless you want to drive a long way to go on adventures each day the area is remote enough that you’re stuck. 2) The only bathrooms are a LONG way from the tent sites in the middle of the night. A second bathroom, even a vault or portable toilet, would be a lot better.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for the review, Jason. We pride ourselves on our pristine, quiet, remote location, though we are only 5 miles from Cripple Creek. We have no desire to ever be the city suburb park; just a simple campground. Bathrooms are far from some sites due to bldg restrictions. Search for soln is ongoing
Jul 07, 2024
The staff were accommodating and friendly. The cabins we stayed in were well kept and comfortable. I appreciated that the staff made the 4th of july fun for everyone with a parade and hot dogs. There was bikes to rent, showers and bathrooms were clean. Gorgeous views during the day and at night
Jul 07, 2024
Pads are not level. I have a 40 ft 5yh wheel and I could not dump any of the waste tanks because I could not get into the dump station.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Site 175 is one of the more level ones, but since we're terraced down the hill, it will be unlevel if you park away from the hookups, Ron. Departing the day after a holiday one would expect demand at the dump station. Seems YOUR DECISION to not wait your turn is the only reason you could not dump.

We stayed in cabin K10, it was so cozy and perfect for a weekend getaway. First time to the Cripple Creek KOA and we can’t wait to go back! Friendly staff and clean, as always!

Beautiful location, very well kept. The owners are on site and very involved so your stay is drama free. No t.v. radio signal as it is between mountains. Best KOA thus far.

We've been to this KOA once before, as tent campers. Memorial Day weekend 2026 was the first time in a cabin. It was wonderful!! The cost is so reasonable. It is a short walk to the bathrooms (but not so close that you hear everyone else going to the bathroom). The staff is super helpful and friendly. The kids and I had another amazing time!!

The world's highest KOA was central to Teller county hotspots like Victor and Cripple Creek. Great service and amenities, plenty to keep kids busy! We used one of the 50 amp RV sites which were full hookup. Our Solitude 5th Wheel is pushing 40' and the spaces are tight but doable. Plenty of 5th wheels and diesel pushers on site while we were there. Would stay again!
