1. Christmas Circle in Chula Vista

For over 60 years, homes in what is named the Christmas Circle have done annual holiday displays. Each year, homes between First and Second Avenue decorate their properties with colorful lights and festive displays from mid-December until just after Christmas. 

More than 55 houses and counting in the region participate, making this one of the best Christmas light neighborhoods in San Diego.

The Christmas Circle location is just off H Street and First Avenue in Mankato and Whitney Street, Chula Vista.

2. Jackie and Jose’s Christmas House in Chula Vista

Jackie and Jose are Chula Vista residents known for their fantastic holiday displays, music and lights. The couple opens their home during December and the first week of January between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Marvel at the impressive holiday decorations, bask in pine tree smells and revel in the merry-and-bright atmosphere.

Jackie has a donation box for funds that benefit the homeless population to add to the spirit of generosity of the holiday season.

3. A Very Furry Christmas Celebration at Sesame Place in Chula Vista

Enjoy the fun and magnificence of thousands of twinkling lights adorning Sesame Place in Chula Vista. The park transforms into a festive wonderland from November to the first week of January. You can expect to see your favorite Sesame Street friends, incredible holiday surprises, a 24-foot-tall Christmas tree and Santa. Remember to bring your camera to grab a picture!

4. Jungle Bells at San Diego Zoo Near Chula Vista

Take a 10-mile drive from Chula Vista to the San Diego Zoo to experience the annual Jungle Bells festival. The world-famous zoo lights up the night until 8 p.m. during most of December, offering live music, festive games and other surprises to delight the family. Your admission ticket gives you automatic access to the evening festivities.

1. Clairemont Christmas Park Near La Jolla

Make your way to Clairemont Christmas Park to see incredible light displays, festive inflatables and holiday decor. You may even spot one of the residents dressed as Santa. More than 40 neighborhood homes go all out each December, drawing onlookers year after year.

Take in the amazing displays at Clairemont Christmas Park at Jamar Drive and Lana Drive, just off Mt. Abernathy Avenue.

2. Fairway Village Near La Jolla

Take a drive to Fairway Village during December and you will see thousands of colorful twinkling lights adorning 80-plus houses. The light displays stretch from house to house, from the gardens to the eaves, making for jaw-dropping sights that your family will love. 

Fairway Village is open to the public from 5.30 p.m. until 10.30 p.m. Some days, you may even hear carolers and see synchronized light shows with music.

3. Lightscape at the San Diego Botanic Garden

Take a 20-mile drive from La Jolla and enter the fairytale, whimsical world of the San Diego Botanic Garden.
