Very clean and groomed. The manager Randy is a super good and accommodating hard working person. Hope KOA knows that. He was up working at sunrise and worked until dark. Even push mowed the entire campground in 95 degree heat. You don't find dedicated people like that anymore.

Randy was a great host. Park was clean and well kept. Not much for amenities but quiet and peaceful. Groceries and restaurants only 5 minutes away. Mississippi University 15-20 minutes away

While the gounds are nice, this KOA is lacking in a couple of areas. 1st, the lake is dry, and there is no pool, so it isn't exactly a Holiday. 2nd, we couldn't pick-up the WIFI from our spot (which was fairly close to the office). We did arrive after hours, and were greeted with a welcome packet, but we had to text to get bathroom entry instructions (which were complicated). OK for 1 night.

Randy couldn’t have been more accommodating during our stay. Grounds were kept up with and good birding there too! I would stay here again

The grounds are nice and the place is peaceful. We were sad to learn the lake wasn’t just low water level but totally drained and had been for years. There’s not much to do for kids so bring your own games (cornhole and such). The grounds were well kept and the spaces were nice.

The campground is very nice, too bad the lake is dried up. The only problem we had was the roads have sharp turns whicn were are difficult to make with a larger class A motorhome.

I have stayed at several KOA Campgrounds. I have to say that Randy at the Starkville KOA went above and beyond to make my stay an amazing experience. He was extremely kind and took care of everything I needed immediately. I will definitely stay at Starkville anytime I'm in the area. Thank you Randy for being so amazing.

Randy was great for the camp ground. Will be back.

We thought a lake was next to the KOA turns out it was drained in 2016. That’s not KOA problem but would have been better if it was still there. Randy did a great job. He kept the place clean and picked up.

Not enough shade and the lake was without water.

This was the first time that my mother and I went camping with our van. The camp site was great. The owner put us close to the showers and bathrooms to make it easier for my 83 year old mother. We had a wonderful visit and will come again.

Great location, beautiful setting, quiet and friendly staff,……..BUT….the bathroom and showers are terrible. Very clean but no a/c. Out of date. By the time you finish you are sweating so bad you need another shower.

The camp host could not have been nicer. My car battery died and he brought over a charger for me and charged the battery all night. Even offered to give it to me. Brought me a bundle of wood and checked in on me several times. My site was lovely with a fire pit, an iron table and four chairs that were rockers. Can’t say enough about the hospitality! Sites had great. Oaks for shade. Peaceful

Thought this was excellent KOA. Very clean, well laid out, very helpful camp manager (Randy?). It is a shame the lake is drained right now awaiting state to correct water levels, but did not detract from our peaceful stay.

Very nice owner, very quiet place

Everything was clean restroom shower in good condition, there was some nice playground equipment. Water slide and Pier were closed, the place was not busy but our stay was very nice and Randy was very helpful.

They had a lake and water park until 2015 and now all their water slides end in dirt. It's really too bad as the park is nice, clean, well maintained. Because the water park is gone the park was sparsely populated and we had the run of the place. The limited staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay again if going through this area.

Randy is one of the best camp managers that we have had the pleasure of dealing with. Randy is always professional and accommodating for the guest that stay with him. The campgrounds are always well kept. This campground is like a base camp for us on our travels. It is convenient, quite and peaceful.

I stayed at the KOA campground in Starkville during the Dachsund Derby weekend, which also coincided with a major sporting event at the local college. The campground itself was very nice and well maintained. The bathrooms and showers were exceptionally clean, the pathways were well lit, and I felt safe walking around the property at night. Those were definitely positives. However, there were several issues that I feel are important for future campers to know about. First, the website stated that the tent camping sites had water and power hookups. I understood that to mean that each individual tent site would have its own hookup. When I arrived at my site, I discovered that sites 1–4 shared a single power and water hookup located between sites 1 and 2. The electrical hookup had only four outlets, meaning multiple campers potentially had to share it. Depending on which site you were staying in, you also needed a very long extension cord. I was not prepared for that because the website did not make the shared arrangement clear. Had I known in advance, I likely would have chosen a different campground. The fire pit at my site was another concern. It was essentially a ring of rocks that was heavily overgrown with fire ant beds, making me uncomfortable using it. I would not want to disturb a large fire ant colony by placing firewood in it and then risk having the ants scatter. What stood out even more was that the RV sites I walked past appeared to have much nicer metal fire rings, many with grills for cooking. I would have appreciated similar, properly maintained fire pits at the tent sites. I also found the website lacking some important check-in information. I had several questions about late arrivals and had to contact the campground for answers. Once I arrived, I discovered that much of that information was actually posted on the door of the office. Having those instructions clearly available on the website would have prevented some unnecessary back-and-forth. I understand that there was only one person working at the campground that weekend, and I recognize that he was doing his best. However, with both the Derby and a major college sporting event bringing a large number of people into Starkville, the campground was extremely busy. One person was expected to handle check-ins, phone calls, office duties, firewood sales, site preparation, cleaning, maintenance, and other responsibilities. That seemed like far too much for one person during such a busy weekend. Having an additional staff member available during major local events would have made a significant difference—one person could remain available in the office while the other handled the property and maintenance needs. Overall, I liked the campground itself and appreciated how clean and well maintained the common facilities were. My biggest issue was not the campground's appearance or cleanliness, but the lack of clear information about the tent-site hookups and the condition and inconsistency of the tent-site fire pits. Better communication on the website and additional staffing during exceptionally busy weekends would go a long way toward improving the experience and setting appropriate expectations for campers.
