Tent Reviews

Small camp space. Site does not have enough level surface for rent.

Reservations should accomodate vans. The tent spot I was assigned was not level. There was a $5/ dog fee?! What’s that about, there is not even a dog park. The dog poop container was overflowing and right next to my camping site. For the highest KOA rate I’ve ever paid, There was not that much value. BTW, what is with the red hard to use water faucets?! Why not use a regular faucet.

No power at first site. Fortunately, they put us in a much nicer site that had power. I don't know why we didn't get that one the first time. (BTW, we've had the same issue at other campgrounds.) The women at the front desk were awesome (Layla and another woman). Wifi was bad. Don't advertise you have wifi if you don't. Very disappointing but Layla let me work at the office. Way Overpriced.

We really enjoyed our time with you and can't wait to come back. I know you're still getting settled in with the reopening and can't wait to see what you continue to do with the property! You handled a huge 4th of July crowd with grace and attention to each camper. Thank you!

we enjoyed the site & having a creek next to our tent site was great. We would have liked a picnic bench at our site.

There was a big mess with spaces. Camping is very crowdy, small spaces squeezed between highway and river

Nice area to camp, but there is still a lot of work to be done there. Definitely a no frills stay at this time but understand ably so due to this camp was recently acquired and still recovering from a harsh winter and previous fire in the area. Would come back but not for a year or two.

This campground was not what I have come to expect from KOA in terms of quality. The sites were smaller than expected, and the facilities definitely not the caliber I expect for $110 per night. The staff was excellent, which helped a lot, and of course the location at Lake Tahoe is one of the best. This property needs to have some capital investment to bring it up to par with KOA standards.

Emery and staff were helpful and did everything to ensure us a pleasant stay… I’ve decided I’ll be back next year and probably a routinely year after year to follow. Thanks.

Perfect get away

The staff was extremely friendly, the sites by the creek were amazing. The restrooms could have been a bit more cleaner (esp. for the camping price we pay). The wash basin was dusty/dirty. The shower rooms could use a deep clean once in a while

Pool was covered, sites were cramped, it looked like they weren’t ready for guests. We drove to our site and left, we didn’t stay the night. We’ve stayed a lots of KOAs and generally there’s at least one thing we liked so much that’s we would stay again, this is the first one that we will definitely not go to again.

A new KOA that looks to be a gem once it's fully up and running. Super friendly staff too. Look forward to seeing the place in the future!

The managers from Tennessee were great. Made me feel welcome. Hard working.

Due to snow , we were only one camper there , all staff are very nice .

Very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay with our small dog.

Super amazing place to stay.

Way way over priced at $80 for a tent site with no water or electricity. The sites were super small and too close to the next site. Our tents were so close together we could hear everything. Very awkward. We also felt extremely uncomfortable with all the super religious items all over. We left on a Sunday and wanted to purchase ice but they closed for church and weren’t there when we left at 10a

Stay was great! Campsite was large enough and had a picnic table, charcoal grill, and firepit. There were a few ways we could move around the table and choose to park our car/pitch our tent to arrange the site to our liking. Cleanest bathrooms I've seen at a KOA yet! Only gripe was that its just off of the highway, so around 5AM you start hearing traffic drive by... Would stay again.

Campground was well maintained and all facilities, like the ladies restroom, were very clean. All employees were very helpful and welcoming. Only drawback was road traffic noise, although it was quieter in the wee hours. Thanks!

Nice place just wish it wouldn't be to dusty but overall 9 out of 10. Tom is the best thanks for being really nice to people the world deserves more people like you.

Some very awesome employee guys gave us free firewood. Pros: close to Lake Tahoe, well-kept grounds, nice showers. Cons: VERY expensive for what you get, really cramped campsites (our tent was maybe 3ft from our neighbor's, it was awkward), 15min drive from Lake Tahoe, super religious Jesus signage everywhere. Request a campsite along the creek b/c most sites are not.

This review has been removed by KOA due to profanity.

Our stay was very pleasant. Bathrooms and showers very clean. Coffee excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. I never wanted to leave. Campsite very clean. Staff was so friendly and accommodating.

It was awesome! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty to help us.

The campground management did nothing to enforce bear policies. There were multiple groups of campers that left food out overnight, which attracted a black bear. The commotion kept everyone awake for over 3 hours and endangered campers. This KOA had a few employees that made frequent rounds on their golf carts, but none of them bothered to say anything to anyone about the food they had laying out.

Small sites and lots of upcharges. Nice location and very nice amenities

Great staff Great place
Aug 28, 2018
Service was great however the place is very dusty not like other campgrounds near the lake and very close to the road
Aug 27, 2018
Very friendly, helpful hosts and nice clean facilities.

Wonderful place and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating.

We love coming to this KOA. We understand it's for sale so we hope whoever buys it does not change anything...especially for tent campers. Great staff
Aug 16, 2018
Staff are friendly and wonderful. The sites are extremely small and costly for the amenities. There should be bear boxes. Was really difficult to pack everything in and out in such a small place. Will not encourage others to stay here.

We arrived just a little after 4 and the staff was super helpful and kind. I had 3 in my company and just a tent spot with a Truck and Camper. The roads are a little tight in the tent section, but we were able to do it mostly without a hitch. The last night we were there, 8/12/18, we had a bear appear about two campsites over, but he just watched us scramble to put away food and then wondered away
Aug 14, 2018
The staff was great and helpful. The only downside was that our group campsite was right next to the road, but other than that, it was a great experience!
Aug 14, 2018
Every single person we meet was over the top friendly and helpful.

Tent sites feel like you’re camping in the woods/mountains without actually camping in them! We call this “camping with a view”. Be aware this is a HIGHLY religious site (Christian) and if you don’t like Jesus being fed to you, don’t come here.
Aug 13, 2018
Great place to take the family... safe with all the conveniences, such as restrooms, showers, and a general store with everything you’d need. Definitely not roughing it, but a great spot nonetheless.

Great time.
Aug 07, 2018
First, we had a nice time: however, the campsites are really close together so there is no privacy. You don't feel like your camping but rather spending the night in a motel parking lot. Also, and this is important since some of your guests are "bears" you really should install "bear" proof trash cans. The suggestion to put your garbage in your car is not a good or safe idea. Bear lockers???
Aug 06, 2018
Had a nice stay, had to leave early due to illness. Saw a bear. That was really cool. Was credited for the unused portion of the stay, which was nice. Would be better if I could have up to a year to use the credit.

As a family travel brand, we've visited campgrounds across the western United States, and Lake Tahoe KOA stands out as a place that makes outdoor adventures easy, enjoyable, and accessible for families. One of the things we appreciated most was its location. It provides a fantastic base for exploring everything the Lake Tahoe area has to offer, while still being somewhere you're happy to return to at the end of the day. Whether you're spending your time on the lake, exploring nearby attractions, hiking, or simply enjoying the mountain scenery, the campground is perfectly positioned to make the most of the region. What also stood out was how connected the campground is to the local community. The onsite family was generous with recommendations and genuinely passionate about helping guests make the most of their Lake Tahoe visit. Through conversations with them, we discovered local businesses, activities, and experiences that we may otherwise have missed. It felt less like checking into a campground and more like being welcomed into the area by people who truly love where they live. Families will appreciate the heated pool, playground, seasonal activities, dog run, creek, and beautiful forest setting, while practical amenities like the laundry facilities and camp store make longer stays easy and comfortable. Lake Tahoe KOA is more than just a place to stay—it's a place that helps families slow down, spend time together outdoors, and experience the best of the Tahoe area. We're already looking forward to returning. — Elevated Adventure Fams

As a New Zealander visiting Lake Tahoe, this campground was exactly what I picture when I think of an iconic American family camping holiday. Staying in a Deluxe Cabin gave me the perfect balance of comfort and camping. It was clean, welcoming, and well-equipped—everything I needed for a relaxing family stay. What I'll remember most, though, is the setting. The smell of the pine trees was so fresh and distinctive that I know it will always remind me of this campground. Waking up amongst the towering trees and spending my days outdoors felt like a genuine escape from everyday life. My children absolutely loved their time here, especially exploring the creek, swimming in the pool, and playing on the playground. There was always something for them to do, and the campground struck a wonderful balance between being peaceful and family-friendly. Another thing I appreciated was how accessible and welcoming the managingfamily was. They were often around the campground, genuinely interested in making sure guests were enjoying their stay, and always happy to share recommendations or answer questions. It was clear they care deeply about the property, and I enjoyed hearing about some of the improvements and future plans they have for the campground. This was a wonderful introduction to camping in the Lake Tahoe area, and I'm already looking forward to staying again.

We first stayed here 2 years ago (and I believe it was under new ownership/management then). They were friendly, enthusiastic and intent on improving the place. We returned this week and we're happy to see the same friendly and enthusiastic team and the improvements they had made with more to come. The team was always present and working around the campground. The grounds and buildings were clean and well-kept. We loved our site (111). It accommodated our 37 ft 5th wheel and truck easily. Looking forward to returning.
