We could not back our trailer into the narrow uphill space thst was assigned to us (there were also trucks on either side thst made it difficult to back ip) so we parked near the entrance and slept in the trailer with it still attached and left at 5am.

Great location & grounds.

It was very clean and well taken care of. It was nice that they lead you into each campsite for the campers. I appreciated that very much.

This campground was closed from 2017-2022 and reopened in 2023. I stayed in site 219 in 2023, and spent our July week with windows open, sound of the Truckee River, while watching campers struggle to squeeze thru rocks and trees. In 2024, campers, trucks, trees and boulders were NOT crowding the driveways. Staff is kind, helpful and working hard to keep the camp clean and campers happy.

Out of date hook ups No out door space for chair Trash can always full even after it was emptied Dog run full of stickers no real grass area Staff did excessive speed around campground Confusion on entry and exit Restrooms were dirty most the time

This location seemed to be in a transition phase. The facilities were older and in need of some repairs, and each time we used the bathrooms they were either out of toilet paper or paper towels.

Upon arrival, we were notified that our spot that we were told was next to a wide open meadow was actually in their parking lot/driveway. The manager was very apologetic and told us this facility was under new ownership and that the person that told us we were next to a meadow was an employee from the past owner. We did not stay and the manager gave us a 100% refund. Site #207 is NOT a site!!!!

Very nice site friendly staff quiet it was a little pricey at $138.00 for one night.
Jul 26, 2024
While the campground was pretty clean and the staff was very friendly, we did not enjoy the tight roadways, the narrow site we were in, the noise from highway 50, and the lack of signage when trying to drive around.

Great stay. KOA team is new and introducing fresh life and ideas to campground. They are friendly, present and engaging. What we loved: flexibility and customer oriented focus. Worked last minute adjustment to our visit- fit us in early and adjusted stay on back the backend. Loved the creek and enjoyed relaxing in it. Store had basics. They have a vision and committed to site improvements.

It’s going to sound cheesy or sappy but the camp hosts are all so kind and truly care about each individual campers’ experience. I appreciated the fact that when I had to run to their store to buy a can opener, it wasn’t marked up by 150% but nearly the same price as what you would find at Target or Walmart. This was a refreshing experience for sure!

Spots are a little tight but over all great place to stay.
Jul 23, 2024
This park is overcrowded. We had the worst campsite in the world (212.) Our view was either the flat metal wall of the RV crowded next to us on either side, or the maintenance yard for the whole camp. The traffic noise from HWY 50 was deafening. You are restoring the office, fine, why not eliminate the campsites you jam into the tiny spaces in front of the office and make the area a dog park?

Terrible experience! We booked and payed for 2 nights but where so disappointed of the whole camping that we left after 1 night. There was no pool, no WiFi, no toilet paper and for the rest the whole camping needs to be fully renovated!! To complete the horror the site is located next to a very busy road. Heavy traffic 24 hours a day. Really not KOA worthy!!!!
Jul 23, 2024
Clean sites, nice creek at the back of the campground. Sites are close together but had good shade and the hosts were exceptionally helpful with a back in spot.

Pool was closed and bathroom need remodeling

We were only there one night but the campground has new owners, and they are making a lot of improvements. If you stay on the side near hwy 50 it is a bit loud at night with trucks and cars going by. But there are other spots. Nice place and going to be even better as they continue to make improvements. Good location.

Nice area to stay. Facility needs significant facility improvements. Dead trees. Small sites.

We were given a site that was really unleveled, dusty, with many ant holes. We could barely open our slideout. No place to put your outdoor rug. The swimming pool was not in service. Very crowded. Noisy bcuz it’s next to the freeway. The worst thing was that we asked if we could move spots and were told they were fully booked. But they had several open spots the following days. Very disappointed
Jul 17, 2024
The KOA needs some work. We learned during our stay that it had been shut for the last 5 years and just reopened a few months ago, but we didn't know that when we reserved. The traffic pattern is difficulty for all. The spot we were given for our 21' travel trailer was barely longer than the trailer and had little room. Hardly spave for the picnic table. Pool was non functional.
Jul 17, 2024
So much potential. Most of the sites are spacious with trees and big rocks that give it that real camping feel. The tent sites are very nice down by the creek. Highway 50 is right there and is noisy, but we were able to block it out. My recommendation is remove all the sites next to the office. I would have left if I was out in one of those. Overall it was nice. Maybe a small makeover.
Jul 16, 2024
No activities, too small of spaces, too far from Lake Tahoe, need to get the scheduling and management of the campsites down. Also take precautions in worksite areas to protect the public
Jul 16, 2024
Staff is the best part of this new KOA campground that is being renovated. The pool isn't ready yet, the bathrooms need to be renovated still, the store is small but nice, the roads in the campground are narrow, twisty and not for large RVs, the creek is nice but these campsites are dirt, the site we had was paved and level but backed up to US 50 highway & very loud during the day, lots of trees
Jul 15, 2024
I would never stay here again, not only is the staff too young without experience, the whole park is garbage. So very disappointed in this KOA!!!
Jul 15, 2024
I couldn’t use all my electrical power at once….the breaker would trip everytime!!! My spot was very unlevel and it became a mud pit after the rain!!!

When your website says sites are cozy you all are not kidding. We just spent 3 nights at the KOA left 1 night early because of weather, the site and wanting a little more for our money. The staff was incredibly kind and refunded our extra night stay which was not expected but appreciated.

Sites weren't level, dusty and rough. Redeeming fact was the scenery very nice. Shout out to Josh the escort, so gelpful and pleasant.
Jul 14, 2024
The stay was great. The only issue I had was the camp sights were very hard to get into. I watched a guy with 35+ foot trailer struggle to back into his sight because the roads are narrow as well as the sight. Unfortunately, this prevented a lot of people to use their side awnings. I would say this KOA should put a length restriction in their advertising or at let customers know beforehand.
Jul 14, 2024
Location was great and close to everything. Space was small. Restrooms/shower/laundry need updating. I would not have booked if I was aware that the pool was under construction. There are no activities on site for the little ones. Traffic at the site was kind of confusing because there are no signs. Staff was not too friendly. Priced was over priced for what was offered.
Jul 14, 2024
The campground is filled with trees - I love trees! The spaces were tight but adequate. We were on the back side where the creek could be heard (a welcoming sounds instead of traffic).

Great location and super friendly staff working to make your experience special ... an outstanding stay!
Jul 10, 2024
The staff were so friendly and helpful. The sites are a bit close to each other and there is a lot of traffic noise but it doesn’t take too long to get to the beach or Heavenly ski village.
Jul 09, 2024
Reserved 7 mo in advance. This KOA expensive/overpriced. Most sites VERY small and VERY closely placed.Parking challenging. Pool was being "re-constructed" and in the BEGINNING stages with all the noise and materials expected and right in the park entry, office, shower/bath area. Forth of July week S. Lake Tahoe & NO notice given pool would be unavailable & NO discount given! STAFF was great.
Jul 08, 2024
The location is really pretty and the staff was great, but the couple of spaces that could actually accommodate our 43 ft trailer were all pretty undesirable. The busy holiday weekend was also made much worse by cramming tent campers in all around the entrance drive where the spots looked to be an afterthought or an effort to get as many spots as possible into the already crowded area.
Jul 08, 2024
Needs to get up to KOA standards. Needs updates to bathrooms. Bathrooms ran out of toilet paper. Sites that are hookups should have concrete pad. We were in a dirt pad that made leveling difficult. No where to park when first registering, they should have clear signs and a place to park so that the entrance is not jammed up. Needs more activities for kids to do.

As a family travel brand, we've visited campgrounds across the western United States, and Lake Tahoe KOA stands out as a place that makes outdoor adventures easy, enjoyable, and accessible for families. One of the things we appreciated most was its location. It provides a fantastic base for exploring everything the Lake Tahoe area has to offer, while still being somewhere you're happy to return to at the end of the day. Whether you're spending your time on the lake, exploring nearby attractions, hiking, or simply enjoying the mountain scenery, the campground is perfectly positioned to make the most of the region. What also stood out was how connected the campground is to the local community. The onsite family was generous with recommendations and genuinely passionate about helping guests make the most of their Lake Tahoe visit. Through conversations with them, we discovered local businesses, activities, and experiences that we may otherwise have missed. It felt less like checking into a campground and more like being welcomed into the area by people who truly love where they live. Families will appreciate the heated pool, playground, seasonal activities, dog run, creek, and beautiful forest setting, while practical amenities like the laundry facilities and camp store make longer stays easy and comfortable. Lake Tahoe KOA is more than just a place to stay—it's a place that helps families slow down, spend time together outdoors, and experience the best of the Tahoe area. We're already looking forward to returning. — Elevated Adventure Fams

As a New Zealander visiting Lake Tahoe, this campground was exactly what I picture when I think of an iconic American family camping holiday. Staying in a Deluxe Cabin gave me the perfect balance of comfort and camping. It was clean, welcoming, and well-equipped—everything I needed for a relaxing family stay. What I'll remember most, though, is the setting. The smell of the pine trees was so fresh and distinctive that I know it will always remind me of this campground. Waking up amongst the towering trees and spending my days outdoors felt like a genuine escape from everyday life. My children absolutely loved their time here, especially exploring the creek, swimming in the pool, and playing on the playground. There was always something for them to do, and the campground struck a wonderful balance between being peaceful and family-friendly. Another thing I appreciated was how accessible and welcoming the managingfamily was. They were often around the campground, genuinely interested in making sure guests were enjoying their stay, and always happy to share recommendations or answer questions. It was clear they care deeply about the property, and I enjoyed hearing about some of the improvements and future plans they have for the campground. This was a wonderful introduction to camping in the Lake Tahoe area, and I'm already looking forward to staying again.

We first stayed here 2 years ago (and I believe it was under new ownership/management then). They were friendly, enthusiastic and intent on improving the place. We returned this week and we're happy to see the same friendly and enthusiastic team and the improvements they had made with more to come. The team was always present and working around the campground. The grounds and buildings were clean and well-kept. We loved our site (111). It accommodated our 37 ft 5th wheel and truck easily. Looking forward to returning.
