RV Reviews

Lower tree limbs and bushes need to be trimmed so they don’t rub on the rv’s. Spaces are tight but the workers there know how to direct you into your spot safely. Very nice people.

The camp ground is in a group of trees which makes gor beautiful scenery ! The spots are close together like all KOAs. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They are doing some construction so when it's all done I'm sure it will be even prettier!

Extremely narrow lots, nearly impossible to enter without damaging your RV.

We stayed in an RV site along the creek. Loved the site. Only drawback was noise from the highway. I know there’s nothing they can do about it but other than that we had a really nice time. It’s definitely more like a campground. We love Tahoe!

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Pool was unfortunately closed, but it looked like they were trying to get it up and running. Some sites were a bit cramped. Bathrooms were clean.
Aug 22, 2023
The campground ground is not ready to be open. There is so much work that needs to be done before camping people should be allowed. Too many items need to be fixed. The employee who lead us to our site had to help us get in our spot. We could never have done it with out him. A pull through should be just that. This was not the case. There wasn't enough room to do it without a guide. ETC

Great potential, but not there yet. Nice staff.
Aug 21, 2023
It was very noisy being next to highway 50. The site spots were small and too close together. Finally, it was too expensive for the campground. If it was like 70.00 a night but it ended up being more like 158.00 a night which was ridiculous.

Everyone there was very friendly & helpful, which was very much appreciated since I an a new trailer owner & still learning. The lication was right next to the highway and you could definitely hear the traffic - but the staff's presence & consistent offers to help overcame the negatives do to traffic noise.

Pool was unusable. Facilities were dirty and it was WAY OVERPRICED!
Aug 19, 2023
The facility was in complete disrepair. Plus they charged an astronomical amount per night over $150 per. Pool looked like it's been broken for decades. Sites are so close don't have room for even a picnic table. Staff was nice, probably because they were all laughing themselves to the bank.

Loved it- nice managers, beautiful creek right behind some sites. Great hiking nearby. A negative is the 89 highway noise but we didn’t hear it sitting outside when we were by the creek. Some slots are tight due to trees. Ours was level but the site next to us was not. Sewer connection was too high for our trailer but that was reported and it’s something they can address.

Campground is a work in progress. It's under new ownership & management and they are getting it back to where it should be. It is in a beautiful location with trees but lots of road noise. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Very EXPENSIVE $149.88/night. Then when we checked in we were charged an additional $12 per day for a Facility Protection Fee and $5 per day for our dog! No KampK9.

The staff is super and working very hard to bring this campground back to prime. They still have work to do, but I'll bet that next year the facilities will be much better. The internet connection is weak, but the woodsy setting was just what we needed.

Overpriced to begin with. Not the worse koa I've stayed in but close. Booked a pull thru, put in my rig, 39 foot and towing. They put me in a spot that was so tight it took me 20 minutes to jockey it around to get in position and manager just watched from the office. In plain view was a large pull thru that sat vacate my complete stay. Manager offered no help. Bye bye koa, no more, I'm done

nice campground near the river but could use an upgrade in the bathrooms/showers and the pool could be cleaned up and opened...
Aug 15, 2023
Very helpful, courteous and clean.
Aug 14, 2023
Great location and pleasant staff. Sebastian was professional and informative!
Aug 14, 2023
Easy to miss entrance, pool was closed, sites were tight and rocky, access road super narrow, trees near roadway not limbed up leaving stripes on rv, dump station in a bad place, playground for kids is pretty much useless, not worth the $111 per night fee, won’t stay here again. I expected a KOA Lake Tahoe to be better.
Aug 13, 2023
Beautiful location, friendly staff, crowded spots and difficulties with electric hookup.
Aug 10, 2023
We waited over 30 minutes to check in because nobody was at the office. Bathrooms completely unstocked, no TP, papertowels or soap. Bathrooms / showers were dirty. Only saw them cleaned once in the 5 days we stayed. Pool was closed. Staff was smoking tobacco & marijuana right next to our spot. Overall it was a total letdown. Understand they are just reopening, but not an excuse for all the issues.

I have mixed feelings about this KOA. It is in the process of coming back to life after years of being closed. Pros: beautiful mature trees along a creek, availability, vacancy, playground. Cons: price, Hwy 50 noise, small clearances between mature Pines for RV’s, roads narrow, pool closed for repair, no pet area. Recommend they focus on tent camping & upgrading common areas for guests.
Aug 09, 2023
The most expensive KOA experience with so little service ! My sit was so small I had barely 10cm on each side to park my 25 ft RV. No swimming pool and no discount for it. Super poor WiFi connection. Showers were old. The only positive thing was the staff, friendly.
Aug 07, 2023
Very narrow camp site. My stairs were not on flat ground. Instead, my stairs were in the rocks. But in spite of the poor restrooms and narrow site, your staff were delightful.
Aug 07, 2023
The location and access to biking paths was really nice. The price was extremely high, considering that the bathrooms were not clean while we were there. Two out of the three stalls, ran out of toilet paper, no soap at the sink, no paper towels. The shower that I used had the fan cover off with gunk pouring out of the opening in the ceiling. I would except back to better for $150 a night.
Aug 07, 2023
We were setup in a make shift site next to the restrooms. The restrooms were not clean and private. It was the worst KOA we ever stayed at.
Aug 06, 2023
We are thrilled that the Lake Tahoe KOA is back in business! Although some amenities are a work in progress (pool, urinal, etc.) the new staff is awesome and we had an amazing week of camping with family.
Aug 06, 2023
So glad to see this open and under new ownership. Can’t wait to see what the new owners have in store for this beautiful setting for a KOA. Staff very friendly and helpful.

What a beautiful location and conveniently located. Calm and peaceful grounds, very clean! Only downside was the pool is under repair. The staff really go above and beyond and were fantastic in spotting my husband while backing the trailer into a tricky but fabulous spot that backed up to the stream! Thank you for a great stay and we are looking forward to returning soon!

You have a lot of nerve charging what you charge for this property. Very disappointed
Aug 02, 2023
We loved our campsight . Was great having an escort help get situated. Also Emmery was awesome to bring us gas , we arrived very low on fuel had never been to Tahoe didn't know where next gas staion was or if we'd make it. Thank you for your help!

Very difficult to maneuver our 36ft motorhome, don't arrive at night. Signage was terrible and hard to find and open box for space assignment

We stayed at the Full hook up space for RV. It was everything we needed and staff was friendly .

Staff is super friendly and hard working. They are working really hard to get the Kamp back up and running after being closed for 4 years. A tad pricey for a KOA but hopefully in the future the price will reflect the remodel.

Beautiful site and helpful employees
Jul 27, 2023
Not Big Rig friendly. 44 ft with toad and was placed in a pull thru with a tree in the turn. Also had to pass under phone lines that dragged the top of our RV. The people are very nice and really tried to help us. Just not my favorite KOA.
Jul 27, 2023
Staff was wonderful. Wish the pool had been open. Laundry area could use an overhaul.
Jul 26, 2023
The park is beautiful. We went there a couple weeks before we stayed, to make sure we could get into our site. They showed us our site. When we checked in they had us in a different site. They said we didn't secure our site. The new site was in the back, there was more privacy but closer to the road. This park is expensive but I guess not for Lake Tahoe.
Jul 26, 2023
There was more than one letdown or unprofessional moment. The office was not always open during posted hrs, a maintenance guy tried to check us in once office had opened late, but was unable to. Bathrooms; broken urinal, & dirty. No bear signs. Obvious pot smoking above the office, & campsite of maintenance person. The cost was not appropriate for lack of amenities, unkempt & unprofessionalism.

Our pull through site included a 90 degree turn to get out so we had to reverse out. Our camp side area was a bout 3 foot max by about 7 feet long of dirt. Our neighbors sewer was directly in the middle of this so we stepped out of our camper into a sewer connection. Pool and several other facilities were closed/out of order but price charged was by far the most I have ever paid. Very tight spaces

Hosts were very helpful and courteous. Shoutout to Emery who escorted us to our site. Thx

This is a small KOA with very small spots and very windy and narrow roads. Very difficult to get into the spots or even get to them. It's very pretty and close to the river. The staff is very friend and accommodating. However, due to the spots, we cannot recommend. Should there be a fire, there would be no way everyone could get out quickly. Also, move the KOA sign to the road, hard to find.
Jul 24, 2023
The sites were very close together, although place was very quiet. Watched staff try to help larger RV’s into same site with difficulty that they were not successfully each time. One ended up with damage to roof and warnings as they hit a tree trying to maneuver in to site. Our site was large pull through and we had an overhead truck camper. Very dusty, crowded, staff was nice.

I was expecting to be disappointed after reading some poor reviews. For us it was grand, power, water, and the dump station had a few different hoses. The place is in need of some upgrades but the only downside for us was the price. The lady checking us in couldn't have been nicer, and like all KOA campsites, the wifi near the office was good.

Emery and Sebastian were very accommodating and take great care of this facility. The spaces are tucked into beautiful pines with a cool stream running thru. Bathrooms are kept up and clean. We had a great week stay.

Malheureusement la piscine n’était pas en fonction. Sanitaires propres, emplacement ok. Personnel très sympathique malgré une arrivée tardive. La signalisation sur la route doit être installée car difficile à trouver de nuit. Très bien

We enjoyed our 5 night stay at the South Lake Tahoe KOA. It is obvious that they are working to rebuild the campground from having been closed for 4 years, and there’s still a bit of work to do. Apparently within 48 hours prior to our arrival they installed new electrical wiring and were still finalizing that while we were there, but we never had any issues with electricity. We’ll be back!

As a family travel brand, we've visited campgrounds across the western United States, and Lake Tahoe KOA stands out as a place that makes outdoor adventures easy, enjoyable, and accessible for families. One of the things we appreciated most was its location. It provides a fantastic base for exploring everything the Lake Tahoe area has to offer, while still being somewhere you're happy to return to at the end of the day. Whether you're spending your time on the lake, exploring nearby attractions, hiking, or simply enjoying the mountain scenery, the campground is perfectly positioned to make the most of the region. What also stood out was how connected the campground is to the local community. The onsite family was generous with recommendations and genuinely passionate about helping guests make the most of their Lake Tahoe visit. Through conversations with them, we discovered local businesses, activities, and experiences that we may otherwise have missed. It felt less like checking into a campground and more like being welcomed into the area by people who truly love where they live. Families will appreciate the heated pool, playground, seasonal activities, dog run, creek, and beautiful forest setting, while practical amenities like the laundry facilities and camp store make longer stays easy and comfortable. Lake Tahoe KOA is more than just a place to stay—it's a place that helps families slow down, spend time together outdoors, and experience the best of the Tahoe area. We're already looking forward to returning. — Elevated Adventure Fams

As a New Zealander visiting Lake Tahoe, this campground was exactly what I picture when I think of an iconic American family camping holiday. Staying in a Deluxe Cabin gave me the perfect balance of comfort and camping. It was clean, welcoming, and well-equipped—everything I needed for a relaxing family stay. What I'll remember most, though, is the setting. The smell of the pine trees was so fresh and distinctive that I know it will always remind me of this campground. Waking up amongst the towering trees and spending my days outdoors felt like a genuine escape from everyday life. My children absolutely loved their time here, especially exploring the creek, swimming in the pool, and playing on the playground. There was always something for them to do, and the campground struck a wonderful balance between being peaceful and family-friendly. Another thing I appreciated was how accessible and welcoming the managingfamily was. They were often around the campground, genuinely interested in making sure guests were enjoying their stay, and always happy to share recommendations or answer questions. It was clear they care deeply about the property, and I enjoyed hearing about some of the improvements and future plans they have for the campground. This was a wonderful introduction to camping in the Lake Tahoe area, and I'm already looking forward to staying again.

We first stayed here 2 years ago (and I believe it was under new ownership/management then). They were friendly, enthusiastic and intent on improving the place. We returned this week and we're happy to see the same friendly and enthusiastic team and the improvements they had made with more to come. The team was always present and working around the campground. The grounds and buildings were clean and well-kept. We loved our site (111). It accommodated our 37 ft 5th wheel and truck easily. Looking forward to returning.
