The campground needs allot of work and they have switched to off season staffing, so the staff is only available by phone. They were in town when I arrived at 3:00 on a Saturday. I waited 45 minutes to be registered.

Campsite and amenities were nice enough. It is the proximity to hwy 50 that is the main issue - very busy, very noisy. We slept okay, but it was not like you were "out in the woods" while hanging around camp. More like "hanging out next to an interstate".

Very nice place to stay. The young man that checked us in was very helpful, courteous and pleasant. We will be back!

Nice place with potential, not yet up to the standards we are used from most KOAs.
Oct 12, 2023
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! Over $380 for TWO nights. Freeway noise. Littered and dirty. Hard to negotiate the sites. Office never open.
Oct 11, 2023
Only saw a person that appeared to be in maintenance. He called someone and found out our site # and took us there. Never saw another person and store/ office ever opened that evening or next morning.

Had to beg to get 1 shower open had to ask for to to be put in restroom dumpster over flowing sites small and close although I guess that’s pretty much the norm at KOA very expensive and really not worth it at all will think long and hard before I stay at another KOA

Older campground with 30 amp only, but with cool weather worked fine for us. Sites were difficult to get into but employee helped to guide us in. Close to the road with traffic noise. If I visited the area again I would explore other options, but would stay here again if only sites available.

hello KOA, basic facilities very very poor condition… to begin with office permanently closed… park looks a parking lot where everyone takes care of himself without guidance of office staff (there’s no staff) zzz did not feel welcome…from time to time the park responsible shows up (permanently on the phone) and it’s then time to ask what you need… before you know he’s gone again… v

This park is located in a beautiful spot but the bathrooms, showers etc. are in major need of repair. Probably won’t be staying here again especially because of the price when so many things need repair.

Showers didn’t work Laundry not available Store always closed as was reception Spot not available even though empty Did get another spot Trash receptacles overflowing

It was a beautiful park with large sites. Manager was very friendly when we saw him. But the office/store was always locked our entire stay and the pool (unnecessary in the cold weather) had algae filled water and lots of mosquitos

We were in 221 right along/above the creek, we could hear the water which was soothing. Nice scenery/serenity. Good for the soul.

This is a new KOA and after the upgrades they want to do it will be an even better camping experience than it is now. It is a beautiful and convenient location.
Oct 03, 2023
No one was there. Arrived at 2 and started calling . No one ever answered. The campsites were nice, the location along the busy highway 50 ruined any chance of peacefulness.

Beautiful spot. Friendly helpful staff. Clean bathrooms. Only suggestion: put a change machine in the laundry or get the app. It's weirdly difficult to get quarters in S. Lake Tahoe!

Nice but not for big rigs. Had only one or 2 good sites for big rigs. Very very tight maneuvering thru the park. KOA was nice for smaller campers or tents.

We were only able to stay one night, but it was a lovely treed spot. The staff that we interacted with were all very friendly and pleasant. We would definitely stay again!

Great stay for us. The park is good, but very tight.

Nice people. Pretty site. Clean bathrooms.

Campground was not staffed all day on Friday and Saturday. Felt creepy. Laundry room washers and dryers were full of the same bedding items for the three days we were there. We were shoehorned into a very tight site and there were plenty of other available sites. No idea why. Bathrooms need a rehab. Wish we stayed nearer the lake for less money. This campground is not up to KOA level.

Nice location, little pricey for the facilities. But did the job

Great place to make base camp. Yes, close to Hwy 50 traffic noise, but we had a creek in our backyard that drowned out that. One of the few KOAs that have plenty of space between spots. Don’t listen to those negative reviews; if you want less expensive and seclusion go to a casino hotel.

The threshold to the office should be marked… trip hazard! As my husband and myself tripped. Some improvements could be made… sites are very tight and close. Some are difficult to get to, and work on getting cable. However the Wi-Fi is excellent!
Sep 19, 2023
Nice location. The sites were a little crammed together and not alot of level sites. Cable lines were run to the sites, but no cable. Pool was there but no usable. Please looked a little run down, and for the price not impressed.

I was pleasantly surprised by the speedy wifi. We were right next to the store, but we were seeing internet download speeds of 125Mbps. This was nice in the evening when our kiddo wanted to watch a movie on Netflix before bed. Sites were nice although there is some road noise from 50.
Sep 18, 2023
Perfect spot and great site. Very well maintained, very clean and easy to get in and out of the grounds.
Sep 18, 2023
Lovely campground. Friendly staff. Needs better signage on the highway.
Sep 17, 2023
KOA needs to get 50amp back online. Put a pool cover over pool until you get it repaired or replaced, it looks bad. Place signage close to entrance on Highway.

We REALLY enjoyed this campground and will return when in the area. First, the staff, helped us whenever there was an opportunity! Friendly every day. The sites have a beautiful setting and there is more privacy to each spot than at other camps we’ve stayed at. Truly a favorite!

The staff were very friendly, and the facilities were clean. They were still doing a lot of work to get the place set up; I think it had been closed for a while. But there was no impact to us except that the pool wasn't open yet. The playground was better for little kids, but there was a creek on the property that offered a great "playground" for older kids.

I had a nice stay; the staff was friendly, location was good, and the campground was a good to walk my dog. I know improvements are underway as it was not open for several years, but the dirt entrance holes are signficant and better signage for the exit would help as well as marking or warning people if boulder issues exiting certain sites. I.e. 109; the guys were helpful guiding me off a boulder.

We really enjoyed our three night stay! The people running the KOA were so nice and helpful. Took us to our space and helped us back in. There was always someone driving around cleaning up or that you could ask a question of. We had a creek side space, so we were able to hear the running water all the time. There is some traffic noise from Hwy 50, but after awhile we didn't even notice it.
Sep 12, 2023
The road is a little tight for bigger rigs but we made it through with a 30' motorhome pulling a car. The road noise wasn't bad at all and I loved the forest feel.

I have a stayed at 100’s of KOA and this was probably the worst KOA my family and I have been too. Fire ban with no prior notice which stopped us from cooking any of the food we brought. There was nothing to do onsite like all the other KOA’s. Couldn’t use the pool as it looked like it had not been clean in months. It was very disappointing.
Sep 11, 2023
The staff were so nice. The koa was small, tight, and lacked amenities for the price. The bathrooms needed an update. They need a dog park as we had others camper’s dogs make messes at our campsite. Also the added $12.99 protection fee should be added to the total not added on later.
Sep 10, 2023
It was Allright but the fact that fire burn was banned was not called for people should be responsible for controlling charcoal and fire pit fires in my oppinion.
Sep 08, 2023
It was advertised as in South Lake Tahoe but is not. It is a drive both ways to get to the lake. The pool was not usable. I was very disappointed.
Sep 08, 2023
Dumpsters were never cleaned. Bathrooms ran out of toilet paper.
Sep 06, 2023
The staff and camp host were amazing very personable and helpful. Unfortunately our trailer didn't fit in the resort very well. They are currently remodeling but still keep the areas clean and maintained.

The setting of this facility is beautiful and has a creek running by and beautiful, mature trees. However, the electrical is on the older side and the roads are tight. Roy was awesome and helped us when our electrical wouldn’t work and the staff was great helping us back our 40 foot motorhome into a space. Overall I would say the staff is fabulous but the place needs some upgrading. Location goo

The sites are pretty, but also very tight. You are also right next to the freeway, so you hear the road all the time. We have a 33 foot trailer and the site was extremely hard to navigate. I would think you would carefully select spots for longer trailers. There was very nice employees that helped us navigate the small turning radiance to get in. It was also expensive for not very many amenities.
Sep 05, 2023
NO wifi, only a few sites get Wifi, and they don't tell you that - garbage everywhere, bathrooms and showers were a mess. In all my travels from Canada, Washington, to Texas I've always stayed at a KOA since they're clean and safe....not this one.
Sep 05, 2023
No Pool, Wi-fi seldemloy and for all this far to expensive! Very nice and ambitious team trying to make a real KOA out of it, but during doing up guest should be informed about that on the website and get refund or lower prices

This is a new KOA and they are working hard to make it really nice. Our original site was right by the office where they were doing some work. I have a nervous dog and they were able to move us to a quieter area of the park. Great staff and very accommodating! Roads are tight through the park but staff is able to help get you in your spot.
Sep 04, 2023
This place is a work in progress. Very basic. Friendly staff. Campsites are very closed together. Near the freeway, but noise didn't bother us at all. Trash dumpsters fill up and overflow quickly. New picnic tables have been placed throughout. Additional dumpsters might be helpful. Beautiful setting and you can tell the owners are trying to get it cleaned up.

As a family travel brand, we've visited campgrounds across the western United States, and Lake Tahoe KOA stands out as a place that makes outdoor adventures easy, enjoyable, and accessible for families. One of the things we appreciated most was its location. It provides a fantastic base for exploring everything the Lake Tahoe area has to offer, while still being somewhere you're happy to return to at the end of the day. Whether you're spending your time on the lake, exploring nearby attractions, hiking, or simply enjoying the mountain scenery, the campground is perfectly positioned to make the most of the region. What also stood out was how connected the campground is to the local community. The onsite family was generous with recommendations and genuinely passionate about helping guests make the most of their Lake Tahoe visit. Through conversations with them, we discovered local businesses, activities, and experiences that we may otherwise have missed. It felt less like checking into a campground and more like being welcomed into the area by people who truly love where they live. Families will appreciate the heated pool, playground, seasonal activities, dog run, creek, and beautiful forest setting, while practical amenities like the laundry facilities and camp store make longer stays easy and comfortable. Lake Tahoe KOA is more than just a place to stay—it's a place that helps families slow down, spend time together outdoors, and experience the best of the Tahoe area. We're already looking forward to returning. — Elevated Adventure Fams

As a New Zealander visiting Lake Tahoe, this campground was exactly what I picture when I think of an iconic American family camping holiday. Staying in a Deluxe Cabin gave me the perfect balance of comfort and camping. It was clean, welcoming, and well-equipped—everything I needed for a relaxing family stay. What I'll remember most, though, is the setting. The smell of the pine trees was so fresh and distinctive that I know it will always remind me of this campground. Waking up amongst the towering trees and spending my days outdoors felt like a genuine escape from everyday life. My children absolutely loved their time here, especially exploring the creek, swimming in the pool, and playing on the playground. There was always something for them to do, and the campground struck a wonderful balance between being peaceful and family-friendly. Another thing I appreciated was how accessible and welcoming the managingfamily was. They were often around the campground, genuinely interested in making sure guests were enjoying their stay, and always happy to share recommendations or answer questions. It was clear they care deeply about the property, and I enjoyed hearing about some of the improvements and future plans they have for the campground. This was a wonderful introduction to camping in the Lake Tahoe area, and I'm already looking forward to staying again.

We first stayed here 2 years ago (and I believe it was under new ownership/management then). They were friendly, enthusiastic and intent on improving the place. We returned this week and we're happy to see the same friendly and enthusiastic team and the improvements they had made with more to come. The team was always present and working around the campground. The grounds and buildings were clean and well-kept. We loved our site (111). It accommodated our 37 ft 5th wheel and truck easily. Looking forward to returning.
