Campground Reviews

The amenities were great, especially with two three month olds. The restrooms were well kept for an extremely busy weekend. The staff was incredibly friendly from booking to check out. My five year old also greatly enjoyed the park. Thank you for your hospitality.

We arrived just a little after 4 and the staff was super helpful and kind. I had 3 in my company and just a tent spot with a Truck and Camper. The roads are a little tight in the tent section, but we were able to do it mostly without a hitch. The last night we were there, 8/12/18, we had a bear appear about two campsites over, but he just watched us scramble to put away food and then wondered away

It was great, staff was extremely friendly, pool was warm, and the showers were hot. I took one point off because the sewer hook up was way too high and we couldn't properly dump our waste without lifting the waste pipe (site 30).

The staff was great and helpful. The only downside was that our group campsite was right next to the road, but other than that, it was a great experience!

Every single person we meet was over the top friendly and helpful.

Tent sites feel like you’re camping in the woods/mountains without actually camping in them! We call this “camping with a view”. Be aware this is a HIGHLY religious site (Christian) and if you don’t like Jesus being fed to you, don’t come here.

This place is 6 miles from the lake and way overpriced for what it is. We met a couple camped right across the street from South Lake Tahoe that were paying half with full hookups. This place is Kids of America. The pool was full of kids. Lounge chairs are stained, Signage out front is so small we drove right past. Employee told us that happens often..

Great place to take the family... safe with all the conveniences, such as restrooms, showers, and a general store with everything you’d need. Definitely not roughing it, but a great spot nonetheless.

We stayed for 4 nights. The site was perfect; close to the pool, store, restrooms, etc. The staff was wonderful, especially "follow me" Tom. Thanks for everything.

We come to KOA to relax for a couple days before we go back to the grind. The last thing we want to listen to is extremely loud armature bands and singers at the group camp less than 30 yards away until 11:00 pm. We won't be back.

A generator problem forced us to find a Tahoe area RV park with hook ups. During the summer that's not easy to find. They had one and we took it. We moved from a non hook up campground right on the lake shore which we loved, but our generator died and batteries ran low. Tahoe KOA took care of us. The people were fabulous. Very very pricey at $100 per night, but beggars can't be choosers. Thx KOA

Very nice setting in the woods, specially as we had a site at the creek. The nice setting is a bit disturbed by the noise of the adjacent hwy 50 so it is never quiet. BBQ and rock pit for fires are at every site. What we found negative was the extremely (black) sandy site, it would have been as natural to have gravel. Also negative is the sewer connection that is higher than the drain of an RV.

Was in space #1, right next to the bathrooms and Hwy 50. All night it was the cars and big rigs going by and anytime someone went to the restroom all I heard was the opening and closing of doors. And then if they went in groups I had to hear their conversations. The sewer clean out sits 4-5” above ground so the sewer hose doesn’t dump without lifting the hose. AVOID space #1.

Great time.

Grounds are well maintained, however we showed up before sunset to check in and there was no one available due to a party (no notification was given.) There was no one to answer questions, not even a night crew. The sites are very small and packed in there, making it very difficult to maneuver.

Some of the location is beautiful and the staff was very pleasant. Everything was so expensive though and our location was disappointing, being right next to the freeway. We also prefer some activities for the kids.

First, we had a nice time: however, the campsites are really close together so there is no privacy. You don't feel like your camping but rather spending the night in a motel parking lot. Also, and this is important since some of your guests are "bears" you really should install "bear" proof trash cans. The suggestion to put your garbage in your car is not a good or safe idea. Bear lockers???

Had a nice stay, had to leave early due to illness. Saw a bear. That was really cool. Was credited for the unused portion of the stay, which was nice. Would be better if I could have up to a year to use the credit.

Nancy was very accommodating and helpful, as was all her staff. Highly recommend and will be returning. thank you,

The people in the office were very kind. The camp is woodsy but right on the highway so not quiet. Pool nice and warm if a bit small. The bathrooms were small and a bit outdated but clean enough. My sewer hookup was uphill a bit from my vehicle which made drainage sluggish. The price implied an upgraded area to me but it was not so-just the Tahoe location I guess. Price would be the big minus.

Extremely kind and welcoming staff! Only complaint is that there should be another women's restroom near the store - always very busy, wait lines and very messy. Very pleasant stay overall. For as busy as it was, the noise level wasn't bad. Registration easy!

This was our first time staying at a KOA. Though we thought the price was very high, we did have a ton of fun. The highlight was seeing a bear :) He was HUGE!!!!! He just laid there and ate a watermelon while we got to snap pix. A memory we will forever remember. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Greg and Shawn are great. Our only complaint is about Gaylord, He has no people skills and is very abrasive to talk to. He yelled at my father inlaw for giving his dog a drink from a hose bib, instead he asks for our space number and yelled at him. I was driving into the facility between 2-3 mph and he yelled at me to slow down. I explained i wasn't speeding and he threatened to kick me out.

We had a wonderful time! Listening to the creek nearby was very relaxing. The campground has easy access to restaurants & places to see. Thank you!

Good location. Nice managers. The single most noisy campsite we have experienced. Staff failed to enforce quiet time; loud radio/music after hours. Construction started nearby at 7 A.M. vehicular traffic constant noise

Thank you, was perfect!

Thought our site was going to be a small nightmare, but site #26 turned out to be a very nice somewhat spacious site. Lack of cable was a slight inconvenience, but the 7 over the air stations were a bit fun. Very helpful staff and if you have 8 million dollars you can buy it!!

I and family had a wonderful time. Great hosts, great experience!! Marilyn R.

Had a great stay! Our site was a little tight to get into based on the size of our trailer, but the staff was super helpful.
Aug 01, 2018
My family and I absolutely loved everything about our stay. If there has to be a negative I would say the road noise in the morning and late afternoon but other than that everything else is amazing !!
Aug 01, 2018
Great place. A bit tight when hauling a trailer but that is the trade off for all the amazing trees! Very family friendly and welcoming staff.

The best weekend ever!! Nancy was amazing and found the best site for us! We are coming back next month!

We made reserv for 3 nites. $100. per nite. They put us in sp 10, back in & full hook .Our sewer hook up was uphill & would not drain. The pool dirty & trash cans overflowing. We could not leave or chg. our sch.We want a refund for 2 nites

We had a great stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back.

Sites are really close. When the Rv next to ours used their toilet you could smell the odor at the picnic bench. Very friendly staff, clean restrooms. The space between sites was an issue along with paying $25 for an extra car.

We had a great time in South Lake Tahoe. The staff was helpful and friendly. The camp was clean. If you are looking for lots of space, this is not the campground for you. The sites are quite small and so are the bathrooms.

As a family travel brand, we've visited campgrounds across the western United States, and Lake Tahoe KOA stands out as a place that makes outdoor adventures easy, enjoyable, and accessible for families. One of the things we appreciated most was its location. It provides a fantastic base for exploring everything the Lake Tahoe area has to offer, while still being somewhere you're happy to return to at the end of the day. Whether you're spending your time on the lake, exploring nearby attractions, hiking, or simply enjoying the mountain scenery, the campground is perfectly positioned to make the most of the region. What also stood out was how connected the campground is to the local community. The onsite family was generous with recommendations and genuinely passionate about helping guests make the most of their Lake Tahoe visit. Through conversations with them, we discovered local businesses, activities, and experiences that we may otherwise have missed. It felt less like checking into a campground and more like being welcomed into the area by people who truly love where they live. Families will appreciate the heated pool, playground, seasonal activities, dog run, creek, and beautiful forest setting, while practical amenities like the laundry facilities and camp store make longer stays easy and comfortable. Lake Tahoe KOA is more than just a place to stay—it's a place that helps families slow down, spend time together outdoors, and experience the best of the Tahoe area. We're already looking forward to returning. — Elevated Adventure Fams

As a New Zealander visiting Lake Tahoe, this campground was exactly what I picture when I think of an iconic American family camping holiday. Staying in a Deluxe Cabin gave me the perfect balance of comfort and camping. It was clean, welcoming, and well-equipped—everything I needed for a relaxing family stay. What I'll remember most, though, is the setting. The smell of the pine trees was so fresh and distinctive that I know it will always remind me of this campground. Waking up amongst the towering trees and spending my days outdoors felt like a genuine escape from everyday life. My children absolutely loved their time here, especially exploring the creek, swimming in the pool, and playing on the playground. There was always something for them to do, and the campground struck a wonderful balance between being peaceful and family-friendly. Another thing I appreciated was how accessible and welcoming the managingfamily was. They were often around the campground, genuinely interested in making sure guests were enjoying their stay, and always happy to share recommendations or answer questions. It was clear they care deeply about the property, and I enjoyed hearing about some of the improvements and future plans they have for the campground. This was a wonderful introduction to camping in the Lake Tahoe area, and I'm already looking forward to staying again.

We first stayed here 2 years ago (and I believe it was under new ownership/management then). They were friendly, enthusiastic and intent on improving the place. We returned this week and we're happy to see the same friendly and enthusiastic team and the improvements they had made with more to come. The team was always present and working around the campground. The grounds and buildings were clean and well-kept. We loved our site (111). It accommodated our 37 ft 5th wheel and truck easily. Looking forward to returning.
