Not very pleased with this KOA campground. Our first morning we were awakened by the sound of someone cutting trees with a chainsaw after getting to sleep at 4 am from our drive. When I called the office to ask them to stop their answer was that quiet time was over. I had to personally go out and ask them to stop. The location wasn’t that great either, it was located next to a trailer park.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are sorry for the early morning noise. Quiet hours end at 7am and staff began ground work around 9am. It was unsafe for any heavy work to be done in the afternoon with 100+ degree temperatures.

The site was close to the front. The people around us were quiet. We had a pull through site that was nice and level, but low and had a lot of standing water. It needs more gravel to build it up.

C10 site pull through has a communication tower and concrete pillar in the way of using pop out of camper

Excellent customer service and outstanding but high level of professional management skills.

Did not appreciate the rudeness of KOA staff to inform us to take down a dog fence. We just left Savannah and we were able to use both and it was not pointed out to us. The woman was very abrupt and curt in instructing us to take it down and we need to read the KOA policy. Every campsite is different. It turned us off to our experience at the Charleston KOA. I would never stay there again.

We did not like the location with an adjacent sketchy trailer park and we saw several individuals from there walking onto the campground to use the washrooms. Also, the pet policy is to keep your pets on a leash - our neighbor had 5-7 cats roaming around, 2 of them always came over and really bothered us, especially our 2 leashed up dogs. Not the best experience…

Friendly and helpful staff. clean grounds

The campground was clean and the staff friendly. On the negative side i was told i could not use my fencing for a small dog enclosure for my dog but another site used the same fencing but fenced in a larger area for people and dogs and that was OK. I did not see the reason for that. The neighborhood next to the campground looked a little sketchy.

I visited Charleston, SC for work. Throughout my stay the staff were fantastic. The grounds were well kept & the sites were level. I enjoyed my stay & recommend this location. Why only 4 stars, we visited Camp K9 at least twice a day & each time we noticed the receptacle was never emptied. There were 2 small, very aged campers (poor condition). It is in the flight path for Charleston Int. Airport.

I enjoyed my stay at the KOA. We really did not spend a lot of time on the property because of other activities but the property was clean and the price was affordable. When we needed help or questions they responded quickly. I would recommend to my friends.

Staff was friendly Facility’s were average The neighborhood residents wandering around and using the facilities was un sat- I have stayed at many KOAs across this country, I’ve never encountered this or the local police making rounds in the campground. We won’t return.

Friendly, helpful and a nicely kept campground. We will come back!

When we arrived I didn’t get the spot I asked for. I got a spot that was completely soaked. They did change us into another spot but it still wasn’t what I asked for. When I asked about the spot I asked for he said he didn’t know I had requested it. The staff was helpful. The store was reasonable and the bathrooms were nice. The pool was hot and closed way too early.

We had a pull through patio site. It was lovely and the price was decent. We were only there for a short stay but would definitely go back!

Everything was clean lots of mowed grass, and had nice level spots. Not a lot of shade were we were parked at.

3 nights stay. Camp site was convenient for our stay and was just what we needed. We didn’t really use the amenities as we were out a lot but it was quiet and relaxing when we came back. The bathrooms are pretty good and they stay on top of cleaning and taking the trash out each day.

Management staff was extremely helpful. We had a serious medical emergency in the family. Had to drive in to KOA last minute to support our family member. They set us up right behind their trailer, so we were able to watch their children while their parents were in hospital during a serious surgery. They did not make us relocate in park knowing the situation. Thanks to the staff!!!

The park itself is very nice and well kept. Unfortunately they are next to a trailer park that has a serious Ferrell cat problem that spills over to the KOA. I could see their frustration with it when talking to them about it. The only other thing I didn’t like was the dog fence rule. Taking my fence down every time I left got to be a bit much. The pool was great and we all enjoyed it!

Not what we would expect. Shared entrance with a trailer park and not a secure entrance/exit. Loud music played by other campers (during the day) Sites not level and did not drain well after rain.
Jun 20, 2025
They are definitely trying to make the park better and they have done a lot of updates but there are clearly people who live there full time which isn’t typical for KOA. The location on the other hand is not great.

Positives:*Deluxe patio-end of a row. Spacious and level, Pool, laundry clean.*Staff friendly, helpful. Info page said NO dog fences. We asked (thinking issue was putting them in the ground). Staff advised they ARE allowed if taken down when not in use.Win! Negatives: *WiFi in our row down-whole stay, regular sites look small some uneven, long term guests disruptive. *Dog fence raised our rating!

let me say the jump scare from the occasional super low jets is awesome. plus there is a huge amount of stray cats roaming the property. no wonder the place was half empty on a weekend

Kind of an urban setting. Lots of cats to interact with. The staff was very helpful. Nigel’s soul food was very good. The town of Somerville is about 10 minutes away and a lot of great places to eat there also. About a 30 minute drive to downtown Charleston.

Had a great time. Great location for visiting my family

great campground with many amenities that we were able to use - thank you.

We had our firewood stolen the first night the got ravaged by fire ants nested around your hook up’s the second night at site D5

While the campground was nice, they had a company show up at 0730 to remove a tree, which was a rather rude awakening. Also the lady next to us kept draining her grey tank straight onto the ground under her trailer.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are sorry for the inconvenience with the morning noise. We had a dangerous tree that had to come down as soon as possible before the storms rolled in that afternoon.

We were there for our son’s Navy graduation, so we were spending most of our time out of the park. The staff we did deal with in the store were all very friendly. The pool was clean the little bit of time we spent in it. Got to watch my boys possibly play together for the last time in your pool, they’re 22,17 and 16 and the oldest will be leaving for good soon. Thank you for those memories.

Very good Very nice and clear

Site was nice enough but wish there had been an umbrella over the sitting area. Disappointed in the bathhouse. Husband has physical challenges and the shower areas are not sat up with the room needed to navigate.
Jun 03, 2025
I can't say it was a quiet stay because of the airplanes, trains, and a close fire department, but I can say 90% it was a quiet stay. Clean, well staffed, level sites, great water pressure.
Jun 03, 2025
friendly people, nice clean park, except for the cat crap all over ours and other sites. a trailer site directly behind ours had no less than 10 outdoor cats. when complained about the fact that our dogs could not be out and we were stepping in cat crap. We were told it has been an issue but nothing they can do about it, no less than 5 food bowls feeding them. And a flatbed tow truck next to us.

We had a great Memorial Day stay! The pool was fantastic..lots of room and loved the hammocks. The staff was very friendly and responded immediately to any request we had. It was an easy drive to downtown Charleston and Mt Pleasant. It did rain and there was some pooling of water around some of our campers, but it drained quickly...after all it is called the "low country". Would definitely stay again. Update: we just stayed again for the 6th year in a row. They have stepped up their game with a few new additions around the campground and a dedicated maintenance crew that is on top of it. Highly recommend.

We enjoy our time at KOAs, however everything about this one was "off" in so many little ways which is not typical of the KOA brand. First it started with bad set of Google map directions in the welcome email which sent us 10 miles to a private residence. If you Google "Charleston KOA" for directions, it sends you to the correct location. Secondly, the tent site A10 is a parking logistics nightmare because of the close proximity of a metal grill, tree, shrub, dog waste container, and large RVs in the row across from our site. If a vehicle was in A11, our car doors would have hit each other due to the 2 feet difference in our adjacent gravel parking pads. An 8 foot fence does a good job of blocking out the ridiculously bright gas station floodlights. But the fence does not block the frequent emergency vehicle sirens from the highway (I've never heard so many sirens at night!) The bathrooms literally sparkles and are squeaky clean, however, do not hope for water pressure and hair shampooing in these showers (you'll want the phone # to their cleaning lady because she does such a great job!) Everyone is super friendly here and the curbside trash pickup was very nice amenity. The grounds are neat and tidy, water and electric at each site was convenient.
