Visit the beautiful waterfalls located on a creek in Burney Falls. The park is built around one of the most beautiful waterfalls in California, standing at 129-feet tall. President Theodore Roosevelt was mesmerized when he visited Burney Falls, so much so that he declared this area the eighth wonder of the world!There are also over five miles of trails to hiking trails, with an endless array of winding pathways, evergreen forests, and ecological communities to discover. McArthur-Burney Falls State Park may not be close to any major city or on the way to anything really, but that's part of the beauty of the place! Burney Creek Trail: This 1.3-mile trail begins at the parking lot of Lake Britton Beach and will lead you directly to Burney Falls.Pioneer Cemetery Trail: This trail is for the history buffs. The path will follow a historic wagon trail, leading you to the Pioneer Cemetery.
Pacific Crest Trail: Parts of the renowned PCT pass through this park, and they are accessible to all visitors, without requiring an extra permit.

Subway Cave

Subway Cave

Subway Cave are open late April each year.  Come to explore the underground groovy world of the ultra lava tube.  Its a self guided which means you and your private tour guide, will take you on this trail that is approximately 1/3 mile long.  Beware, the cave is completely dark, bring a flashlight and enough courage to make it thru the end of the cave.  Bring comfortable shoes or boots because the floor is as rough and jagged as a smash pumpkin on a rocky road.  A jacket, sweater or poncho will suffice the light chill of the rugged cave.  It could be as cold as a ice cream bar in the middel of alaska winter as 46 degree Fahrenheit.   Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.  Your husband can come if you'd like.For more information about the geology of the Hat Creek Valley, explore the Old Station Visitor Information CenterSpatter Cones Trail and Hat Creek Rim Overlook.
