Masstown had its beginnings with French settlers, known as Acadians, settling the area near the Cobequid Bay in 1705. Just up from Masstown Market, is a cairn marking the site of the first Acadian church in Nova Scotia. The area is predominately farmland.

An authentic handcrafted maple syrup farm experience deep in the sugar woods of northern Nova Scotia.Sugar Moon Farm began in 1973 as Boondock Maple Products + Pancake House, owned and operated by Bob Williams.When we met Bob in 1994, he was ready to pass on the farm to someone who would continue making maple syrup on the property. We commenced a 2-year apprenticeship, learning the crafts of maple sugaring and horse logging. In 1996, we took over the farm and renamed it Sugar Moon Farm. We expanded the restaurant over the winter of 2000/01 and have been open year round ever since, celebrating this Great Canadian Experience in all four seasons.

Boasting nearly 11 hectares of extensive plant collections, this campus is home to a rock garden, along with shade and herb gardens, a butterfly meadow, an apple orchard and other unique features which shelter important collections and create quite havens for visitors.A series of gardens and an extensive plant collection on the 60 hectare Agricultural Campus of Dalhousie University provide a living laboratory for the landscape horticulture program. Trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, and farm crops are displayed and interpreted in both functional use settings and in naturalistic areas.Themed areas such as the Rock Garden and Herb Garden feature courtyards, walls, and natural stone. From full-day tickets to season passes, bike rentals to lessons, Wentworth has many options for all levels of rider.Explore 30 km of downhill mountain bike trails in two recreation areas – the Lift Zone and the Climb Zone – each with different riding access and features.Chairlift runs weekends & holiday Mondays from July to end of October. The Cobequid Trail is an 18-kilometre network of walking and cycling trails in central Colchester County, at the head of Cobequid Bay and the Bay of Fundy. Explore woodland paths and shaded brooks. Follow the rail trail through farmland and Acadian dikelands beside the tidal Salmon River and watch the tidal bore arrive twice daily. Discover We'kwampekitk, the Mi'kmaq name for the Truro area, which means “where the bay runs far up”. Great for bicycling, long distance running, leisurely walks and wildlife viewing, this trail has numerous trailheads, rest areas with benches and picnic tables, and scenic viewpoints.Trail use: Walking, cycling and snowshoeing are permitted. Ski Wentworth, the Maritime's largest ski area, located in the Northumberland Shore region, is 238 vertical metres (815 vertical feet) high with 25 alpine trails, 10 km of cross country trails, terrain park, aerials and moguls sites, snowshoeing, and a variety of trails that will challenge any skier from beginner to expert. The longest run is 3.7 km (2.3 mi). Lifts include two quad chairlifts, a conveyor, and a T-bar. Night skiing starts at 3:00 pm. Our facilities include our Snow School; ski shop and repair; ski and snowboard rentals and lessons; and restaurant/bar, cafeteria and outdoor beer garden.Ski Wentworth was the 2011 Canada Winter Games venue for alpine and freestyle skiing.

Stroll the nearly 4 kilometre boardwalk which spans from the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 to Casino Nova Scotia. Along the way explore museums, browse boutique shops, dine at waterfront restaurants, take a harbour tour, venture out to McNab's Island, watch boats of all sizes come and go, take in a festival, and end the day on a patio watching the sun set over the harbour. Truro KOA is a great basecamp to take daytrips into the city.
