Your Guide to Vacationing in Sheridan, Wyoming

Staying at our Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA Journey is nothing short of a great time. Our ideal location puts you in close proximity to some of the nation's most scenic landscapes and attractions.

While there are plenty of things to do in Sheridan, Wyoming, check out the itinerary below to spark some inspiration for your next camping excursion.

Day 1: Hike or Ride an ATV in the Bighorns

Gear up and prepare for a hike through the Bighorns, taking in the views of picturesque waterfalls, clear lakes, breathtaking valleys and stunning mountain scenery. If hiking is not your thing, hop on the back of an ATV for a thrilling ride beneath 13,000-foot peaks.

Day 2: Fish and Hunt in the Bighorns

In addition to unforgettable hiking trails, the Bighorn Mountains and Bighorn National Forest also offer plenty of opportunities for fishing and hunting. In the many streams and lakes, you will find a variety of trout species. Animals that call the forest home include elk, deer, pronghorn antelope and mountain lions.

Day 3: Explore Mount Rushmore and Devils Tower National Monument

Head to Mount Rushmore for an exciting history lesson and stop at Devils Tower National Monument on your way back. Stretch your legs, catch a glimpse of some unique wildlife and discover what makes these rock formations so special.

Day 4: Visit Historic Downtown Sheridan

Spend a day closer to our campground and head into Historic Downtown Sheridan. Try some delicious food and explore the unique shops. Authentic Wyoming clothing makes a great souvenir to remember your time here!

Day 5: Experience the Area's History

Take a trip back in time and visit Fort Phil Kearney and Little Bighorn Battlefield. Take a walk through the grounds at Fort Phil Kearney — a U.S. Army outpost along the Bozeman Trail — to see what life was like in the late 1860s.

Little Bighorn Battlefield is a somber memorial of the battle between the U.S. Army's 7th Calvary and the Lakota and Cheyenne tribes. The Brinton Museum is another can't-miss location for history buffs and art enthusiasts as well.
