There are many activities available in the surrounding area. You can go fishing at Lake Bailey a few miles from the campground, take your kids to the Children’s museum in downtown Meridian or take a short 1 hour drive down to Laurel to see Erin and Ben Napier appearing on Hometown.
Lake Tom Bailey is a State Owned 182-acre lake located a few miles to the north of the park on the north side of the interstate on Hwy 11. The lake is stocked with Bluegill, Crappie, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Redear.
There is a charge for fishing. See the rates noted on the entrance sign.
Bonita Lakes Park is a 3,300-acre City Park located just off the interstate at exit 154. It's a quiet, lightly developed place for paddling, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, exercising, picnicking, or just listening to the birds and feeling the sun on your face. You can even bring your dog (with a leash) or your horse: over 20 miles of equestrian trails wind through the trees and along the lakes. In the Nature Trails, you can hike or bike on the 7-mile loop of trails around the 3 man-made lakes. The trails are dog-friendly (leash required).
