As many of you may know, hiking with your fur babies is not allowed in the Rocky Mountain National Park. However, don't worry! We have several great hikes in the area where dogs are welcome. In addition to our proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park, we are also very close to the Arapaho National Forest. Dogs are welcome to tag along on any of the hikes located within the Arapaho National Forest.
One of our favorite areas to hike in the Arapaho Forest is around Monarch Lake. Monarch Lake is located 14 miles from our campground and is situated just past Lake Granby. You can pick a short walk along Monarch Lake or hike 4.4 miles to Cascade Falls for a stunning view of the rushing waters that feed into Monarch Lake. Moose frequent Monarch Lake and your chances of spotting one or several on your hike is very high.
Looking for a dog-friendly hike closer to our campground? We have a list of dog-friendly hikes in the area in our office. We look forward to seeing you and your pets here at Grand Lake KOA!
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
