Owner and camp host were very friendly and made sure we had water available at the site in freezing weather. Also moved WIFI close so we could work!! AWESOME!!! The view of the river and its traffic were splendid and entertaining.

Directions don't match up with Google. No pull through sites as converted to backup only. They're only 6 sites taken. Yet it's a Journey. Standing water everywhere. And dog dropping. No garbage area. Bathhouse in another area. No signs in park for way finding. Really need to examine this!!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We offered you a pull trough, but you booked a River view, we had rain for 2 days the grounds were wet, our signs are reflective and they are marked on every road. Our garbage station its marked with signs , we have 5 doggy stations around the campground and 24hr camping host at your service.

Very nice KOA, hope to be back when the weather is warmer and the KOA is fully operational. We stayed there end of November and most activities were closed for the season.

We really enjoyed it, the staff Scott and his wife are great host, the restrooms and showers are very clean, the campground is loaded with amenities….we will be returning in the summer camping season ….A++

Beautiful campground right along the Ohio River. We had reserved a site that our back yard was the Ohio River and it was beautiful. All of the staff was extremely friendly and would definitely book at this campground again!!

We loved it there and we had our grandkids they love it to and want to go back. The only bad thing I can say is that there was the speed bumps

We appreciated the KOA staff person who helped us find a way out of the campground during the maintenance of the railroad, which blocked the normal entrance to your campground.

Beautiful. Clean. But as I was checking in, I asked the manager about the frequency of trains since the site is right next to train tracks. He said, Maybe a few per day. My definition of a few is 3. not a dozen plus in the short 10 hour stay. The layout for the dump station. Its not located properly. On a side hill at the entrance and only accessable on one side. Water was not working.

Thank you for your review, Our closest site from the train is 600 feet away and your camping site is 700 feet away, sorry for the inconvenience of the train the only access to the river is over the railroad tracks. A very new campground with a bright future. Easy in, easy out near main roads. We had a site with beautiful views of the Ohio River. We will put this park on our list of KOA favorites and include it in future travel plans when we can. Airstream owners will likely find sewer connections a bit too tall considering “our” low to the ground connections. State law I suspect, not park’s fault.

Love this campground, close to home, nice large lots. Newer campground so not much shade but trees have been planted. The trick or treat for the kids during my stay was awesome. Grandkids had a wonderful. Will be back again.

The campground is great with wonderful amenities. Our granddaughter loved the playground and all the Halloween activities. The grounds are kept cut and clean. The staff is wonderful! We will definitely camp here many more times in the future!

Had river view and the view was amazing. Quiet and peaceful. The train added to the ambiance. Watched numerous barges navigate the locks. We realize the campground is relatively new and an honest attempt is apparent….keep up the good work.

I really enjoyed the river view lot I was in. The lots were well separated with plenty of room to get into. I was really happy the office had ice because I forgot!!! I'll try to visit again next summer when I can stay for a few days. Sunset over the river was very nice.

The sites were very clean and plenty of space between other sites. Lots of activities for all ages! And I love that they celebrate Halloween EVERY weekend in October!!

Our campsite was right on top of another campsite and we were facing them. It was very awkward. The worst part is that we paid extra for this site. The description online of the site is very inaccurate.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, this are buddy sites and they are very popular, with friends and family camping together, plus you are very close to the playground.

Hard to rate the campground. It rained for all but one day. Sites were very level and large. Roads were wide and easy to back up with. Staff was friendly. Bathrooms were clean and fresh. Loved the view of the river.

River view sites are the only sites i would Stay at. Speed bumps going into the campground are a little much bounces you really bad. If you want to have a campground to just sit and relax this is the campground for you. If you like to go out and visit local attractions. There aren’t too many activities close by. Especially on rainy days.

They put down smaller gravel on top of the bigger gravel needs more small gravel to cover all the larger gravel but it’s some better. Nice campground be better when they trees they planted gets bigger for more shade

Many good things but many areas of needed work. The gravel in the sites was much too big; hurt to walk on even with shoes. A lot of things unattended (bathrooms). Needs improvements. I would probably pick a different campground next time.

Franklin Furnace KOA is a great hidden gem! Right off the Ohio River! We loved our River site, close to river access, great view, and loved watching all the large boats! Quiet camp ground, however you can somewhat hear the high way and constant trains. You can see many trains go by the campground. There is a lock that you can also see from the campground. The campground had a really large playground. We had a pretty level site. The road to the KOA is a little odd, but very well marked with signs. Only minutes for Kentucky and West Virginia. We used this campground as a base to see Hocking Hills and New River Gorge National Park. Great place and would recommend!

This KOA Campground is located right off highway 52 along the Ohio River. It's quiet and peaceful much of the time but there are trains that pass the campground at different times day and night. After the first night we were used to them and slept fine. We had a site along the Ohio River which was wonderful! We watched the barges and boats cruise up and down it. They have a nice playground but parents need to accompany their children. There is a small pond to swim in, a basketball court and little miniature golf and a good place to ride bikes around the park. A fishing lake is also available. It's larger than the swimming pond. We hope to come back sometime to this new KOA to see the improvements they are planning.

Just got here last Friday but so far it's nice 😊 we love the spot we were put in.showers are clean and nice.laundry facility is a huge help. Dog park is a perk..we plan on staying for a while
