Although it gets hot in Florida during the summer months, our area offers several spots to cool off.

Wall Springs Park (Palm Harbor) 
3.7 miles from campground

  • A historic 210-acre preserve featuring a natural freshwater spring that once served as a public bathing spa.
  • Tranquil boardwalk trails and an accessible observation tower offer shaded views over the bayou and Gulf waters.
  • Perfect for light hiking, picnicking, a scenic climb to the top of the tower, or simply relaxing by the spring’s lagoon.

Lake Tarpon

  • Just west of Palm Harbor, this is the largest freshwater lake in Pinellas County, encompassing about 2,500 acres and popular for fishing, kayaking, and sailing.
  • While swimming isn’t advised (due to wildlife and EPA-rated water quality concerns), it’s still a fantastic spot for boating, paddle sports, or casting a line for largemouth bass.

Tarpon Springs Splash Park (near Palm Harbor)

  • This free public splash pad includes multiple fountains and two water slides.
  • Family-friendly with playgrounds, picnic pavilions, restrooms, and dog-park access—ideal for hot afternoons.

Countryside Mall in Clearwater

For those who prefer to shop in air conditioned comfort, Countryside Mall is the destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment in Clearwater, FL. Countryside Mall is home to five anchor stores, a 12-screen CMX Cinemas, and numerous restaurants. What sets this mall apart from others is its full-size, indoor ice skating rink! A perfect spot to cool down. There is an admission fee.
