Join us on your Journey’s adventure, share in our quaint country lifestyle of America’s beginning of the ‘mid-west’! Just remember: When you live in the hills of Ohio, you walk a lot...up and down and all around! Seriously, we just LIKE walking. We especially like walking all the trails just to see where they go! Some days we see people we know...other days...we meet new friends! The sounds of the wind rustling through the woods, the calmness of the water flowing and the smells of being outside combine to give you a sense of nature's finest! For more info go to columbianacountyparkdistrict.org and check out what our parks and trails can do to introduce nature to your senses. We welcome you to explore all we have to offer! This park, located about 1.5 miles south of the campground, is named after the endangered Hellbender Salamander. The salamander grows up to two feet in length and loves fast flowing, pollution-free water. It is found in the Beaver Creek that runs through the park. There are two parking lots for visitors: the main lot is located at 14448 East Liverpool Road, Lisbon, while a smaller lot is located on the north side of the park on Lones Road. Hellbender has 752 acres of public hunting grounds that have been reforested in recent years. The area abounds in deer, turkeys and rabbits. Public hunting laws apply. A 3.5 mile-long trail loops through the park, going through fields, past the West Fork of the Little Beaver Creek, wooded areas, a pond, and the reforested area. The trail should be considered a strenuous walk. There is also a pavillion and a BMX Pump Track. This is a great plast for bird watchers, flower lovers, photographers and outdoorsmen.
