Weathering the Storms

Weathering the Storms

Weather can impact the open and close of a campground and impact maintenance, social and event plans! Due to adverse weather, many campgrounds are only seasonally available. The Butte KOA Journey is not unique with our challenges of completing seasonal maintenance preparation for an April opening!  A prolonged winter in our Continental Divide location erased spring, bringing over 16 days of snow, freezing weather and the impossibility of addressing some of our opening procedures in April - including preparing our pool for seasonal use! Ongoing severe weather, including rain, hail, low temperatures and high winds throughout May and now into early June, have made maintenance a challenge sometimes and has delayed the opening of our pool until at least July 1!

Having said this - we are a hearty bunch and forge forward with our event schedule, onsite activities and commitment to making our guest experience safe, fun and memorable. Despite the nature of Mother Nature trying to conspire against us, we have welcomed over 350 guests to our park in historic Butte over the past month and half with BBQ's, pastry treats and onsite specials (Mother's Day; Memorial Day weekend and upcoming Open House); as well as, food truck and vendor fairs onsite that brought guests and community together with food, fun and promotions!

We are committed to completing our renovations of the Starry Nite Cafe - to be opened soon; reconfiguration of our old bathhouse into a combined community room; new laundry facility and duplex bath; planting partnership and outdoor activities with local youth, community and government groups to create a native plant garden that will help our park's soil and environment and solidifying our Kamp Green commitment to our KOA community of campers!

Remember: "After every storm the sun will smile; for every problem there is a solution, and the soul's indefeasible duty is to be of good cheer."

Happy Trails!
