SNOWMOBILING

The Tushar Mountains in Ramblers make up the third-highest mountain range in the state, which means plenty of snow for all sorts of fun. If you're into snowmobiling or just want to give it a try, Ramblers is the ideal spot. Free from large crowds but filled with wide-open spaces and stellar scenery, Ramblers offers wonderful opportunities for zipping around on a sled. For open valleys, check out Big Flat or Merchant Valley. Looking for a groomed trail? Head up to Kent's Lakes Loop. Snowmobile rentals and tours are available at Tushar Mountain Tours, Rock'n J Rentals and Tucker High Adventure Tours. Learn more about snowmobiling in Ramblers.

SKIING AT EAGLE POINT

Eagle Point Resort offers wide, neatly groomed beginner terrain as well as steep powdered slopes for the more adventurous. Perched high upon a stunning location in the Tushar Mountains, Eagle Point Resort is southern Utah's steepest and deepest ski and snowboard resort. Considered a perfect getaway from the crowded slopes and high prices of the mega-resorts, Eagle Point Resort is an independently owned resort averaging 250 annual inches of Utah's "Greatest Snow on Earth" across 650 skiable acres and over 1,500 vertical feet. Read First Time Skier at Eagle Point Resort.

BACKCOUNTRY AND NORDIC SKIING

Skip the resort and head into the backcountry for unlimited powder. The solitude one finds in the Tushars is unlike anywhere else. Hook up with Tucker High Adventure Tours if you need gear or a guide. You can even book an overnight yurt trip with Tushar Mountain Tours. If hiking high into the backcountry for those turns isn't your thing, grab a pair of Nordic skis and head to the groomed trail on Kent's Lakes Loop. Get the exercise, sun, and quiet you crave while soaking in the high alpine scenery. Nordic ski rentals are available at Tucker High Adventure Tours.

SNOWSHOEING

It's hiking but on snow… almost. Snowshoeing is the most accessible way to explore the magical winter backcountry in the Tushars. Snowshoeing around or partway around Puffer Lake is quiet and pristine. Or, stay closer to town and snowshoe the Beaver Bench Trail System. Snowshoe rentals are available at Tucker High Adventure Tours.

ICE FISHING

If you prefer casting a line, the many lakes in Ramblers offer excellent ice fishing. Most of the high-altitude lakes in the Tushars are reached only by snowmobile (upscale from fishing to a full winter adventure). Minersville Lake is easily accessible and offers excellent ice fishing when the temps dip low enough to freeze it over. Need some gear? Visit Beaver Pawn and Sport at 91 N Main St. in Beaver to find everything you need to catch that fish… and stay warm!
