Here at the Cherokee KOA, our recreation team has discovered the cure for spring fever: planning summer camping getaways! It's actually part of our job to create a fun experience for our campers-a task we don't take lightly. Whether you're peeling out on banana bikes, reclaiming your inner acrobat on the jumping pillow or unwinding in our pool, boredom is not an option.
Join us in season for campground activities including tie-dye t-shirts, scavenger hunts, crafts, campfire time, face painting, crafts, mini golf tournaments and many more! See below for details.
*Many Activities Are Not In Operation Between Labor Day and May 25
Two family sized swimming pools and a kiddie pool - 2 hot tubs. Indoor pool and indoor hot tub open all year. Outdoor pool, hot tub and kiddies pool close Labor Day.
Cherokee KOA Trout tournaments
Some of the finest trout fishing in the eastern United States is located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation adjacent to the Cherokee KOA. Cast your line for a chance at a big one! Compete with other anglers for thousands of dollars in prizes.
Cherokee KOA Trout tournaments are held in March and August. Fishing Season is closed in the month of March until the opening day.
KOA Campfire Time
When the sun goes down, campfire time begins. Gather around the fire pit and get acquainted with fellow campers. Campfire time promises all the classics: toasting marshmallows, eating s'mores, belting out camp tunes during sing-a-longs. We've even been known to swap a scary story or two! (please note that this is in season only).
Movie nights on the outdoor cinema
In season and weather permitting, we will show family friendly movies on movie night. Bring you chair and refreshments and enjoy the movie on the giant outdoor movie screen. Memorial Day-Labor Day is in season.

Meet Your Hosts
"Come enjoy our beautiful campground--your headquarters for fun in the Great Smoky Mountains!"Our campground has guests who have been camping with us for years, in some cases, for five generations! The older campers want their children and grandchildren to have the GREAT family memories that they experienced when they were children," says David Masarik, General Manager of Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA.
David began his KOA journey working at the Oroville/Feather Falls Casino KOA, then joined the COP Manager Trainee program at the Santa Cruz/ Monterey Bay KOA. He was the GM at the Dallas/Arlington KOA and most recently, has been the GM at the Louisville South KOA for several years. He, his wife, Sally, and their family enjoy seeing different parts of the country, and are excited to call the Great Smoky Mountains home.
David credits his staff with making the campground a success. "I am so proud of my staff. Through great customer service, they make our campers feel relaxed so they can have a great time."
Apart from spending time with his family, David enjoys fishing, watching movies and cheering his favorite football team.
