Pay:

Many of the KOA locations are independently owned and operated, and the pay varies based on location and position. The owner or manager of each location holds the responsibility for creating compensation packages and benefits for employees. That means you may find different offerings based on the locations you select.

Housing:

At the majority of KOA campgrounds you will be responsible for providing your own housing. You might choose to camp in your RV, or you may opt for an off-site housing option, depending on your situation. For example, if you live in the area or have relatives in the area, you may choose to stay off-site. Many of our Work Kampers are RV campers.

Job Opportunities Available:

You will find a broad range of job opportunities available at KOA locations across North America. Demands, local needs and current vacancies vary throughout the season in the campgrounds. Each owner or manager determines how many employees to hire and what positions they need to fill to meet the needs of their campground operations. Examples of positions available in the KOA Work Kamper program include maintenance, front desk staff, and managers.

Why Become a Work Kamper?

Being a part of the KOA Work Kamper is one of the best seasonal jobs available to people looking to travel and get paid to do what they love - camping.

One of the biggest draws of the job is the ability to travel. With a traditional job, you are tied to a single location. If you're lucky, you get a few weeks of vacation each year to travel. That's not nearly enough time to see all of the places on your bucket list. As a Work Kamper, you get to choose from KOA locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Head to a sunny coastal location. Spend time in the mountains. Explore the Canadian wilderness. Hang out in the desert. Camp near a favorite tourist attraction. The possibilities are vast. With short seasonal commitments, you can easily work in different locations to see more of North America, and you get paid to do it. Hop from one location to the next to enjoy a regular change of scenery. Plus, if you RV to different work locations, you get to see even more of the countryside and get the most value out of your camper.

The Work Kamper program is an excellent way to build your resume. You gain valuable experience and learn new skills on the job. You benefit from a variety of free training opportunities that build your skills for future employment opportunities. As you gain experience at different KOA locations, you may find more challenging opportunities for which you qualify.

For some people, the rewarding nature of the job is enough of a reason to be a Work Kamper. Your actions have a direct impact on the people you see every day at the campground. Your skills and contributions will help keep the campground operations running smoothly.

Every day, you meet new people; you have the opportunity to make some amazing friendships through the experience, either with campers or fellow Work Kampers. Your shared love of camping already gives you a common interest. Those friendships are bound to last.

Canadians Working in the U.S.

With locations in both the U.S. and Canada, joining the Work Kamper program is the perfect way to cross the border and explore another country. If you are a Canadian who wants to work at U.S. KOA locations, it is important to follow the immigration laws, even if you are only staying temporarily for a seasonal position.

You will need the proper visa to allow you to live and work in the U.S. for the course of your assignment. Find out more about U.S. immigration laws for Canadians to determine the proper channels to ensure you are eligible to work at a U.S. KOA location. Give yourself plenty of time to secure the visas you need to work in the U.S.

U.S. Citizens Working in Canada

Are you a U.S. citizen who wants to work at a KOA location in Canada? You will need to apply for a work permit from the Canadian government. To receive the permit, you need to pass eligibility requirements, including showing that you can support your family financially while in Canada, agreeing to leave when the permit expires, promising to follow the law, and being in good general health. Again, it is important to apply for your work permit early to prevent any delays in arriving at your Canadian KOA location.

Are you ready to make money while traveling and helping people who love camping as much as you do? The KOA Work Kamper program is a unique opportunity full of benefits and rewards that keep you on the road. Sign up now to find out more about the program and to begin your adventure.
