This was our first time staying here and my family had a great time. We are already planning on coming back next year!

Wonderful campground with friendly staff and a variety of activities! The only negative is: the restrooms and showers near the upper 300s sites need some cleaning/repairs/TLC.

We love palmar gulch- our second time in a row staying. We wish on 244 coming west would have a sign notifying that the KOA would be within so many miles. In the dark we miss it and trying to turn around an RV doesn’t make it easy. The eastern side of 244 has a sign and we have yet to miss it, but is more exposed. We’re young but feel elderly would also benefit from signage.

We enjoyed our stay at Palmer Gulch. We tent camped with our kids. They loved the pool and “gold mining.” Close to Custer State Park. I liked the campground but the bathrooms could have been cleaner. I would recommend a more regular bathroom cleaning schedule. Thanks!

Great spot for a tent #34, fun stuff for kids and good food at the grill, all the visiting workers were polite, professional and helpful. We really enjoyed the youth group (Nathan and Alyssa) providing the Sunday worship service, it was an unexpected highlight and great way to end our trip. Kaylee was very helpful at the front desk.

It was a great place to stay. I'm so glad I picked that location. The weather could have been better for our short stay.. But overall it was wonderful

This was a fabulous campground and such a great find! Would 10/10 recommended. So much for the kids to do, clean, and an easy drive to all that South Dakota has to offer!

Nice campground well taken care of

Site not long enough to fix car and 31’ camper, wfiy doesn’t work very well, older kids did good

The site 156 that they put me in was 1-2 feet short, my motorhome/towed vehicle, hung in the roadway, Ialso next to the dumpster, which meant people were slamming the lid in the constantly. Also, next to the showers which meant people were parking in our spot to take showers, people were constantly walking through our site, check in lady was not the friendlies.

KOA with all your needs! Staff are very friendly and professional! Beautiful park with so many amenities!

Your showers in station 4 are disgusting. The stools are covered in dirt, and the shower curtains have black mold on them. For how large your space is, you can throw down $10 for a new curtain and stool. Everything else was great

If your looking for family fun this is the place! The staff and maintenance workers were top notch, we had an issue with our electric box and within minutes someone was there to look at and fix it. The whole campground was clean. This place is close to a lot of hiking, sites to see and thinga to do. Our family will be back. We loved making memories here!

We were told to come here by a coworker and I will tell everyone I know about this campground and how wonderful it was. We had an amazing time. It was an extremely clean and wonderful campground with so much stuff to do for the kids.

Everything was great! Fun resort with lots to do and loved that the rodeo was free for guests! Wish the climbing wall was open in the evening. Our kids didn't have a chance to do it since we were out sightseeing all day when the wall was open.

Fantastic campground!

The view and accommodations were great! The internet or cellular service was nonexistent. Not a place if you are working from home and need to get logged in.

Stay was nice, however, the bathroom/shower area is in need of some serious attention. Mold/mildew in the grout and on shower curtains, the first shower I'd used was dirty beyond all belief and looked like it hadn't had a good cleaning in over a week. The bathrooms were so bad my girlfriend wouldn't even go shower in them, she stated they were, "Too disgusting". Rodeo was really fun.

We wish you would have a loyalty program of some sorts. We come almost every year for the past 8 years and no one ever says thank you for returning.

Very nice but expensive for small cabin and golf cart

By far the best KOA we've ever stayed at. We could've checked in and never left. It was so much fun. There was so much for the kids to enjoy. The pools were our favorite part. And the staff was super nice. We live in South Carolina, and are trying to plan a way to get back over there again soon! I'd give it 100 stars if I could!

Absolutely best KOA we have seen. Close to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and several charming little towns. Next time we visit we will make sure it isn’t right before Stugis Motorcycle Rally weekend. Trip would have been nicer without ear splitting Harley noise everywhere.

One of the negatives was the fact that phone service was almost none existent. We stressed alot about not being able to get help if our car broke down. Or family need to get ahold of us. We were impressed on how fast maintenance came and replaced worn out electric outlet, that wouldn't hold a plug . The resort is beautiful and very large. And close to many parks and attractions.

We were escorted to our campsite by Ernie, who went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. The resort itself, while large and busy, felt relaxed and safe.

Great place for families with lots of kids. Not so great if looking for a quiet campground. Very busy with lots of activities. Clean and staff is very courteous.

Clean level camp spot

The campsite was too small for what it said it was able to handle, also said it had a grass pad which was dirt. The employees were friendly, the pancake breakfast was a bargain and the location was very convenient.

This is a wonderful campground with lots of activities to add to the things to do already in the area. They were VERY helpful in providing us with a place to park our trailer while we toured the area. One item of feedback that would be helpful is to publish the hours of your various facilities in the booklet you give to guests. I could not find the open hours in the booklet or website.

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
