Enjoy the small-town charm of Winterset, home of the Bridges of Madison County and John Wayne's birthplace. West Des Moines has shopping malls, specialty and antique shops and restaurants galore. Living History Farms in Urbandale is an outdoor museum where costumed guides demonstrate how Iowans lived and farmed long ago.
