The Port City Rib Fest is a celebration of great BBQ, cool music and zany fun. It features champion pitmasters from around the country. They cook on a summer circuit and have been at their trade for a long time. Along with the succulent BBQ offerings, a multitude of side items, desserts and drink options are available. The first Port City Rib Fest was held in August of 2013, adjacent to the USS North Carolina battleship, on the shores of the Cape Fear River. Over 17,000 attendees braved the hottest weekend of the year to partake in the festivities.
The variety of BBQ styles alone makes our festival unique, but we have established a reputation of showcasing original acts from all around the country, but it's our other offerings which make us The Nation's Most Unique BBQ Festival. Some traditionalists may say that sword swallowers, Luchadores and fire dancers don't belong at a BBQ festival. Obviously we disagree.
