What's Chocolate gravy you ask? Chocolate gravy is a sweet sauce made with flour, fat, cocoa powder, and sugar. It’s commonly served for breakfast over biscuits in the Appalachian Mountains. This is the perfect addition to your buttermilk biscuits!
Ingredients:
¾ cup white sugar
¼ cup cocoa
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
Step 1- Gather all ingredients
Step 2- Whisk sugar, cocoa, and flour in a medium bowl until no lumps remain.
Step 3- Pour in milk and whisk until well combined.
Step 4- Transfer mixture to a saucepan; cook and stir over medium heat until it thickens to a gravy consistency, 7 to 10 minutes.
Step 5- Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla.
Step 6- Serve warm over biscuits.
Enjoy!
