Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail
This trail is great for hiking, biking, running or just taking a leisurely stroll! Designated as a segment of the Florida National Scenic Trail, this trail circles the second largest freshwater lake in the contiguous United States. The trail itself is located atop the Herbert Hoover Dike, which surrounds the lake for flood protection, and provides views ranging from scenic lakeside to working agricultural landscapes. It also takes users near and through communities that are at the heart of agriculture in this part of the state, such as Clewiston and Belle Glade. The area affords opportunities for viewing wildlife, particularly in fall and winter, when birds such as herons, egrets, and a variety of wintering waterfowl are abundant. And of course, fishing opportunities are endless.

Top of the Lake Art Festival
The ninth annual Top of the Lake Art Fest, sponsored by Okeechobee Main Street, will be held Feb. 7 and 8 at Flagler Park in downtown Okeechobee.The two-day event showcases fine artists and craft artisans from all over the state, as well as local and student artists. This juried art show presents a host of awards to many talented artists.The art fest will also include the third annual Top of the Lake Chalk Walk year with street painting artists creating chalk masterpieces on Fourth Street.Entertainment, food and children's art area will also be featured.Visit the Okeechobee Main Street website or visit them on Facebook.

Decorate your boat and meet the group on Taylor Creek by the Burger King and State Road 70 bridge between 5 and 5:30 p.m. in Okeechobee. The boat parade starts at 6 p.m.
Day of the American Cowboy-Cattle Drive
Okeechobee, Florida is in the heart of cattle country and the best place to celebrate the American Cowboy! Join us January 17, 2015 for our annual Ranch Rodeo and Cattle Drive through the streets. Local ranchers and members of the Seminole tribe bring cattle and wagons through the heart of the city to the Okeechobee Agri Civic Center. Event themed food, clothing and crafts will be available and cowboy demonstrations
Speckled Perch Festival
Okeechobee Main Street welcomes guests and visitors to the 2015 Annual Speckled Perch Festival and Parade, scheduled for Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 in Flagler Park. The Speckled Perch Festival is the oldest celebration in Okeechobee, dating back to 1965. At that time the festival honored the fishing industry with a parade and fish fry in the park during the height of the tourist season and the tradition continues today. There will be local talent, food, arts and crafts and fun. Our Speckled Perch Parade on Saturday at 11:00 am sets the stage for the remainder of the weekend. There is a $10.00 parade permit fee for this parade. This festival has no admission; just fun!
