There's an amazing phenomenon in the Smoky Mountains each year: Synchronous Fireflies. This annual display of light illuminates the mountains with an incredible amount of tiny pulsing lights as thousands of fireflies synchronize their flashes. Join us to celebrate one of the rare species in the world know to synchronize their flashing patterns! We'll have fun education on fireflies, campground crafts and an Ice Cream Social on Saturday. Bring your fairy lights, firefly laser lights and firefly lanterns to help us transform the campground Saturday night into a mesmerizing display that our firefly friends would envy. We'll have a prize for the best display. Then join us on Sunday for a Pancake Breakfast. Interested in watching the Synchronous Fireflies? The exact timing of the phenomenon does vary each year, and the National Park has limited admission for the evenings. Learn more & register for the admission lottery on the National Park Service Website. Subject to change. Some activities require a small purchase.
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
