From I-81 (going South) At the 81/40 Split go toward Asheville After approximately 12 miles, take Exit 435 toward Newport. Our Campground backs right up to the Smoky Mountain National Park with hiking trails available right out our back door. We are just about 45 minutes from Pigeon Forge where Dollywood and many other attractions are located.
Gatlinburg is one of the most popular entrance points into The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can take a day trip to explore some of the most famous destinations within the park, or you can avoid the crowds with a hike that starts right on the campground! Leave your vehicle on the campground (and avoid the parking fees), then take the short walk down a gravel road to the trailhead for Maddron Bald Trail. This trail heads into an undeveloped section of the national park, where you'll pass a few historic structures before climbing the path up past babbling mountain streams and into an old growth forest. Ask the front desk staff for more information and be sure to bring a map!
