Campground Reviews

I waited until the last minute to get a site. Originally I was told the nights I wanted were not available. A short time later A KOA rep called me back and was able to get me in for the nights I wanted. I greatly appreciate the return call and getting us a site. This KOA was incredible and myself and family truly enjoyed our stay. I regret we did not have more time to stay longer. Thank you

I only take one star away from perfect as the city of Central City would not allow this campground a direct driveway into it. (As told to us by someone in Estes Park, CO, who inquired about purchasing and running this KOA. So you have to drive into Central City and turn a curve up to the street to take you to the campground. But we had no problems. Great view. Great campsite. Great people!

We had a nice site up top and the staff was great. Very clean restrooms and when we didn't feel like cooking they had pizza onsite.

We arrived on sat.about 9am and from that point on they did everything possible to make our stay GREAT. Everything was clean and the people were helpful and nice. we plan on staying there again next year! Mark from Minnesota

Excellent location, close to Denver. Spectacular views!

We had a very nice stay. There were nice views from all of the campsites. Pizza delivery (from within the park) and all you can eat pancakes was a nice touch.

All the staff was nice and made us feel welcome. Everything about the campground was clean and comfortable and very scenic. I would highly recommend it to Denver locals like us who want to get out of town to relax and/or gamble. I especially recommend it to out of staters who want a touch of mountains and history without driving clear across the state (if driving isn't your favorite thing).

Great staff, facilities and location. Some road noise towards entrance, but a bargain any way you look at it!

It would be nice to have a bathroom and showers on the top level for those campers.

The KOA was new for us. We enjoyed the site and the view. While the customer service was casual, the staff did their best to ensure we had a good experience.

This is a newer KOA; staff is friendly; I asked one of them to get my towels off the table and put them in my tent; she did not do that; they were soaking wet and dirty when I got back. Can't be depended on to do what they say. I would stay here only when rain is NOT in the forecast.

Great campground. One of the managers was very helpful to us as first time campers at an RV campground site. View of mountains was awesome!

Beautiful facilities, clean, quiet, and way outside city. Great sites, full hook ups. Our biggest challenge was getting to campground, very steep hills and right turns to get to campground.

A very positive and enjoyable experience. This staff treated us like old friends and made sure our stay was the best it could be. Grounds was maintained and clean. Great clubhouse that served pancakes every morning, clean showers and hot tubs. We also tried the excellent pizza they offer that's delivered straight to your campsite. Highly recommend staying here!

Staff is very friendly. Came and stayed for one night as we were traveling through. Showers clean and warm. Tent camp sites are shaded and not on top of each other. Would stay here again when traveling through next time.

This has by far been my favorite KOA camping experience. The camp was so well taken care of, beautiful and organized. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. We will be back some day.

The Spencer family went above and beyond to make our stay great. They also did a great job with the race day events.

Came to Central City as part of a city sponsored car race/show event. Stayed at the KOA. Great views, great management, clean and well run park. Cool temps, definitely better than driving up from Denver each day.

The drive to get to the campground from I 70 is steep, curving and long. Once you finally get to Central City, you have to climb back up to the KOA. Our F350 struggled pulling our 38 ft. fifth wheel up the mountain again and thru the hairpin curves. The mountain view from the sites is pretty, but obscured by apartment buildings right in front of you.

The tent sites in the wooded areas are really not camper friendly. You have to walk up a hill to transport camping gear. The female hostess was rude and snotty and definitely not hospitable. It rained the two nights that we were there and we checked out three days early. When I walked by some of the other staff they did not even smile or acknowledge that I was a GUEST there. NEVER AGAIN!!!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry about the rain.

This KOA was not a good choice for us. It is miles away and UP (almost +4,000 ft!)from Golden, CO. It is inconvenient to go anywhere from the site. Also tent site was up a hill from car parking and so we were hauling stuff up and down the entire time. Finally, there is no dog run. It looks like one is planned though. On a good note, Mike is a happy talkative and astute camp manager.
