Coast Guard Museum

Coast Guard Museum

Do you love history?  Do you love to hike?  How about breathtaking views?  Well, if you do, you will want to make the Port Orford Lifeboat Station (Coast Guard Station #318) one of your many stops.  Here you will learn the history of the Coast Guard Station, what it took to maintain it and what the crew had to do just to fill the boats up with fuel.  If that isn't enough to interest you, don't worry, there are several hiking trails on the point that can lead you to different areas of the headlands, all with spectacular views.  Dive into history, enjoy the outdoors, maybe even spot a whale or two.  Whatever your pleasure, you'll find something here.  The Museum is currently open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Thursday - Saturday, with free admission.

Fishing

Fishing

Want to enjoy a day fishing just to come back to camp and cook your catch? We have several rivers and lakes within a 20-mile radius of the campground. The Sixes River is only 5 miles south and is one of Oregon's most pristine rivers. Elk River, just a few more miles south, also offers a great salmon run in late fall. You can fish from the bank or by drift boat. Even further south is the Rogue River in Gold Beach. Our local lakes are many, but just a few are Floras Lake outside of Langlois, Garrison Lake in Port Orford, Bradley Lake up towards Bandon, Croft Lake and Lural Lake of the 101. Let's not forget the glorious pacific ocean, where you can fish for sea perch right from shore or charter a boat and brave the sea. However you wish to fish, we have you covered here.
