Cape Hatteras KOA

Here at the Cape Hatteras KOA, our recreation team has discovered the cure for spring fever: planning summer camping getaways! It's actually part of our job to create a fun experience for our campers-a task we don't take lightly. Whether you're peeling out on banana bikes, reclaiming your inner acrobat on the jumping pillow or unwinding in our pool, boredom is not an option.

Pancake Breakfast

At our pancake breakfasts we serve up a scrumptious stack of pancakes hot off the griddle. We round out the meal with sausage links, coffee and orange juice. You eat up; we'll clean up!

Top Your Own Sundae

I scream, you scream, we all scream for sundaes! We serve up your favorite toppings such as chocolate syrup and whipped cream, and a chance to mingle with your fellow campers.

Tie-Dyed T-shirts

Bring a piece of your trip home with you: make a t-shirt during craft hour. Your tie-dyed t-shirt will be a wearable memento from your vacation. With a demonstration and all supplies provided, this retro activity satisfies campers of all ages. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to tie dye!

KOA Campfire Time

When the sun goes down, campfire time begins. Gather around the fire pit and get acquainted with fellow campers. Campfire time promises all the classics: toasting marshmallows, eating s'mores, belting out camp tunes during sing-a-longs. We've even been known to swap a scary story or two!

Showtime at the Campfire Theatre

Join us for interactive live entertainment at the Campfire Theatre. From talent shows to slapstick to game show re-creations, this weekly event relies on camper participation. With your involvement, it's never the same show twice!

Summer Recreation Program

Sports Activities
Miniature golf tournaments, pool tournaments, volleyball and basketball tournaments, Ultimate Frisbee, pool volleyball, water aerobics, and horseshoes.

Beach Activities
Beach softball, beach kickball, beach football, beach combing, beach bonfires, and building sandcastles, etc.

Craft Activities
Face painting, tie-die, bead jewelry, finger painting, chalk art, etc. Entertainment/Group Activities Bingo, Outdoor Movie Screen, Karaoke, live family night shows, chapel, fishing trips, Saturday night live skits, movies, game shows, ice cream socials, etc.

Beaches

Fishing

Some of the best fishing on the East Coast is found along the 130 miles of accessible beach. You can fish from one of eight piers located between Kitty Hawk and Hatteras Island. Sound fishing is popular along the short bridge on the Nags Head-Manteo Causeway or the Washington Baum bridge. Offshore fishing is offered at marinas located on the Nags Head-Manteo Causeway, Roanoke Island, Oregon Inlet and on Hatteras Island.

Shelling

The Outer Banks beaches are perfect for shelling. The strong tides and currents makes the beaches ideal for Mother Nature’s repository of shells.

Windsurfing

Often dubbed the “Windsurfing Capitol of the World” steady winds and shallow sounds provides windsurfing opportunities during the spring, summer and fall. Outfitters are located throughout the area providing lessons, clinics, equipment rental and purchase.

Water Activities

There’s so much water around here that there’s a water activity for everyone in the family including jet skiing, surfing, ocean and sound kayaking, sailing, parasailing, and of course, swimming. Outdoor outfitters provide a variety of rentals for equipment and active wear. All you need is a little enthusiasm: Mother Nature will throw in the winds and waves.

Outdoor Cinema

The outdoor cinema is like a drive-in movie without the car. You can enjoy a family-oriented film under the stars. Grab your blanket and some change for the concession stand for freshly popped popcorn, tasty treats and drinks. Be prepared to get comfortable and enjoy the show!

At KOA, we strive to offer something for every member of your family. Which is why we're pleased to announce our new interactive dog park! Lose the leash and let your dog run wild across manicured lawns, free within our fenced play land designed exclusively for canines.

KOA Express Fun Train

The KOA Express chugs through camp daily, with your conductor pointing out campground highlights and local attractions. On board you'll tap your toes to catchy tunes and enjoy an icy treat. All aboard!
