Campground Reviews

Check in was easy, helpful, friendly. Flat dirt ground & not many trees to block wind! The small dog park was out of pick-up bags & trash can was full to the top w/ un-bagged poops. We DID LOVE the perimeter dog walk around the back fence where there WERE SEVERAL disposal stations. Nothing fancy; but all we needed.

We stay here twice a year going to and from Tucson. Best Wifi of all the KOA's we stay at!

OMG, the WiFi worked, the shower was awesome, the owner or operator was helpful with a problem I had with my coach, and overall - totally worth the he money.

Dirty bathrooms.

Nice quiet camp ground. Wet weather made the camp sites a little muddy/messy . Recommend laying down more pea gravel.

I have been stopping there for the past six years. The staff is very friendly and the grounds are well kept. It's a very easy place to get into and out.

The only reason it’s not getting full stars is that the bathrooms were not very well maintained….at least the working women’s side. We showed up to use the facilities and every stall was covered in cobwebs and spiderwebs. No toilet paper or paper towels. Even after each day of use it remained untouched. I don’t know if it’s because of the off season or what. Other than that great stay.

the baths were not cleaned for what looked like awhile, quite dirty and all of the trash barrels were full

Excellent WiFi and cable TV. Very friendly and helpful owner.

Very clean. Very convenient for our travels. Shower fixtures and shower floors could stand to be replaced, but since the water was nice and hot, guess the fixtures don’t really matter. Thanks for a great stay!

Very nice campground. Person in the office was very friendly and helpful. Answered all our questions and made us feel at home. Explained everything about the campground with a sense of pride. (Loved it) would recommend to anyone traveling through Raton.

Pleasant staff, flat sites, nice location. Appears to be a nice place with grassy areas. The water tap was frozen, I think that the heat tape wasn’t turned on. The garbage can by the bathrooms was overflowing and trash on the ground. Bathrooms are very dated But relatively clean.

Good two night stop to avoid driving in a snow storm. We very much appreciate that this KOA is open all year to serve travelers.

Clean and spacious. Level spaces and great amenities. Thanks for the great overnight stay!

Raton is one of our favorite KOA camps to stay at. We always use the little cabins which have comfortable beds and a mini fridge. I was very pleased to see a new heater that was thermostat controlled and worked perfectly to keep us warm. That speaks to the responsiveness of management to suggestions from customers as we had shared that we were uncomfortably cold our last stay. 5 plus stars now!

little weekend away with the wife in our camper van.. Campground and bathrooms were clean and well taken care of. Great stay thanks for hosting us!

Nice site but the restrooms and showers could use an update, very old.

Thank you Grant for the great stay!

Great place for an overnight stay. The sites and roads were a bit muddy and all could use a new layer of crushed rock or course gravel.

Clean, quiet and friendly as always.

The bathrooms in this place were very poorly maintained. No toilet paper in one of the stalls and the trash cans were overflowing. Only one shower in the women's bathroom had hot water and all stalls had hairy drains and poor shower heads. This was disappointing for the amount we spent to stay there that night and we won't be back to this KOA.

Friendly check-in. Inner roads weren't adequately cleaned of snow, making it difficult to maneuver.

If you are going to camp in Raton look no further! The front desk employee Grant is by far the sweetest KOA employee we have ever met. This location is also very convenient and affordable. They have the cheapest laundry we have found in the west and the facilities (restroom, showers, laundry room) were clean. They have ice cream in the front office/store. They have a dog park, a playground, and a dog walk. They also have take a book leave a book.

A quiet spot near the northeast NM/CO border. Stayed here end of Mar 2024. Pull-through FHU 50 amp. Dirt pad. Site #15 General: 1) Peaceful place. 2) Close to Taos and a few other interesting spots. 3) Some sites have shared connection areas Campground WiFi: Worked pretty well. Cell/hotspot using booster: AT&T (3 of 4 bars—4G). Able to work on VPN, Zoom meetings, and stream. Cell/hotspot using booster: Verizon (3 of 4 bars, sometimes 4 bars—4G). Able to work on VPN, Zoom meetings, and stream. Details: Check-in: Normal KOA checkin at office. Simple and easy. Sites: Dirt/ gravel pad. Fairly spacious sites. Site 19: Was not our site but we noticed that the patio side connects directly to laundry and restrooms, so folks seem to forget their manners and cut through that site's patio spot. Campground Road: Dirt road but not bumpy. Grounds: Clean. Bathrooms/Showers: Very clean and well-maintained. Laundry: Worked well. 4 washers. 4 dryers. Washers were a touch smaller than normal, if that is of a concern to you. Location: Gas 3 min from entrance. Restaurants are about 5 min away. Restaurants—Alfonso's: I had never tried gas station tacos/burritos until this location and they were pretty darn good. Similar experience to having a McDonalds/Taco Bell/etc at a gas stop. Near highway: Yes. Close but cannot hear the interstate. The KOA is directly off of a main road so there is a touch noise during the day. Near train: Not that I recall.
