KOA Kamp Green Recognition
KOA Kamp Green Recognition
This KOA meets the established criteria to become a greener campground operation and is recognized by the "Kamp Green" icon.
Established more than 40 years ago, it's now in the heart of this coastal city's myriad attractions.
You simply won't find a better camping location in this vacation mecca than the Myrtle Beach KOA . Established more than 40 years ago, it's now in the heart of this coastal city's myriad attractions - within walking distance of two amusement / water parks, four miniature golf courses, live music theaters, more than 40 restaurants and, of course, dazzling sand beaches. Also nearby is the NASCAR SpeedPark and more than 100 golf courses .
Myrtle Beach KOA offers a lot of fun for the entire family, including your pet. New to our campground is a Big Bouncer, Kamp K9, two great playgrounds, outdoor movie cinema , kampfire theatre and hay wagon rides ! Recreational items are available in-season.
With all that fun and convenience, you'll be delightfully surprised by the campground's setting with shady sites scattered among mature trees. kamping kabins , lodges and park homes also are available.
Meet Your Hosts
Mo and Beth Vandesteene may never have been introduced to the world of KOA if their transmission hadn't failed.
"On a trip to the Florida Keys in 1998, we were held up for two weeks by the tranny repair shop, so we bought a tent and headed to the Miami/Everglades KOA. We had a great time and met and worked with the staff at the campground until our rig was finished," says Mo.
The following summer the manager of the Miami/Everglades KOA asked Mo and Beth to be the activity directors for the upcoming winter season. For several years, they worked as activities directors in the winter months in Florida.
Mo's interests grew into a management position for KOA. "It's challenging and exciting. It's a lifestyle that works well for us, although we don't camp as much as we used to. We look forward to being on the road again someday," says Mo.
"We want our campers to be "KOA campers for life," says Beth. "Our staff members are trained to constantly seek out opportunities to make positive impressions with our guests. We encourage our staff to be fanatical about their roles in all aspects of our operation."
The Vandesteenes pay attention to every detail and love to see the campers' comment cards that mention how clean and well-maintained the campground is. "We are very proud when campers' kids want to stay because they're having fun, rather than go home," says Mo.
Mo and Beth are familiar with the ways of children - their tenth grandchild is on the way! Besides spending time with family, Beth is an avid gardener and Mo relaxes by reading about business and sports.

Need something to do?
Here at the Myrtle Beach KOA, our recreation team has discovered the cure for seasonal blues - keep busy with planned activities! Whether you're peeling out on banana bikes, burn off some energy on the Big Bouncer or unwinding in our pool, boredom is not an option.
Click here for October's calendar of activities on the campground.
Splash Pad
Our new Splash Pad will feature overhead buckets dumping gallons of water, a rainbow tunnel of spray, a group of gurgling fountains and more. You'll find a variety of fun ways to cool off without any standing water on the ground! This innovative water play land is safe for swimmers and non-swimmers alike.
Tie-Dyed T-shirts
Bring a piece of your trip home with you: make a t-shirt during craft hour. Your tie-dyed t-shirt will be a wearable memento from your vacation. With a demonstration and all supplies provided, this retro activity satisfies campers of all ages. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to tie dye!
Campfire Time
When the sun goes down, campfire time begins. Campfire time promises all the classics: toasting marshmallows, eating s'mores and sing-a-longs. Also join us for interactive live entertainment at the Campfire Theatre. From talent shows to slapstick to game show re-creations, this weekly event relies on camper participation.
Climbing Wall
